I love these early marketing videos, it’s wild to go back to a time when these franchises getting a live action movie was a huge deal with so much build up and everyone wondering how everything is going to look, while nowadays when they say “Galactus is in the upcoming fantastic four film” everyone kinda has a general idea of how he’ll look and there’s nowhere near as much hype as live action venom in 2006/7

Honestly after seeing the film in theaters again earlier this year (2024), it's held up pretty well, especially compared to some of the slop we've been getting recently.
Apocalypse Sandman was one of my favorite theories, it was just so cool. If I’m not mistaken this was domestically the number 1 movie in the states that year. It was a slow year if you compared to previous ones. Spider-Man 3 has some of the most interesting history behind it. The history behind it makes it my second favorite behind the first one (SM2 is obviously a much better film but I'm just so fascinated by everything about SM3)
I think Spider-Man 3’s number one issue and why it was so controversial at the time is and was always venom. Had he been slightly more comic accurate in both look and portrayal many wouldn’t have an issue with this film.
Idk if it was me, most likely me, and I was 6 or 7 at the time. But I swear they advertised a giant Venom, the size of a building in one of the tv spots. Yet looking back that might have been Sandman.

People only bitched AFTER the film came out cause they were mad Venom got killed off...and thus fans started trying to find any and every excuse they could to hate on the movie as whole, Sam Raimi, Avi Arad, and Sony... and it's been affecting the Fandom and all Sony related Spidey projects ever since.
“Fans were excited without preconceived ideas of the film’s quality.”
I mean, they were probably expecting it to not be choppy, unfocused shit, otherwise they wouldn’t have been excited.
The Wormy T trailers were extremely professional for the time, better than 100% of the fan-made ones nowadays. That guy worked at some big animation company, they were perfect animations.
7:42 I wish you talked more about Avi Arad who's responsible destroy Sam Spider-Man 3 trilogy cuz Sam never knew Venom and it killed his work plans with the original plans he had Sandman and Harry Osborne the new Goblin
At first, Symbiote King Kong made me laugh. Now that i think on, it sounds cool af.
this will forever be my favorite weezer song spider-man movie i wanted all the toys
An early rumour I remember was that John Jamieson would become the man-wolf. 😂
Good old days...
I think Venom's portrayal is only partly responsible for why the movie is disliked. I think it has more to do with pacing overall.
Sam Raimi's amazing
But you can feel his passion reduced because of Avi Arad's interference
Anyone else wish it turned the way it was suppose to?
i can remember being 7 seeing this.
Ds lite nostalgia hit me😭😭
Idk if it was me, most likely me, and I was 6 or 7 at the time. But I swear they advertised a giant Venom, the size of a building in one of the tv spots. Yet looking back that might have been Sandman.
