Damn, this brings me back. I remember being in my early teens going online almost every day during this era and searching up “civil war Spider-Man” “Spider-Man news”. I was so excited that Spider-Man would finally get to meet the avengers on screen because as a kid I just never understood why the avengers never had Spider-Man 😂. The hype for Spider-Man in civil war was so epic. All the fan trailers with Logan lerman (for some reason he was my top choice), the fake fan made art of Spider-Man’s suit. Ofcourse going on sevenwebheads every day to keep up with any news. Who remember that famous fake post credits scene from age of Ultron?
@ Everyone thought marvel had shot a last minute cameo scene when age of Ultron was coming out and even channels like IGN we’re posting videos like “if Spider-Man was in age of Ultron”. But that post credits video went viral 😭😭 to the point where joss whedon had to clarify it was fake. Funnily Spider-Man was actually considered by marvel to appear at the very end of that movie as a member of the new avengers team.
Holy shirt , same here exactly , before they had a name for homecoming I remember a fan made trailer that made the movie look like a web of shadows adaptation with dramatic music and everything. 😅

I love that feeling as a 10 year old kid watching the new trailer for captain america civil war not expecting anything out of the ordinary and had no clue what leaks were at the time, suddenly spiderman showed up at the end of the trailer which made my 10 year old self super super excited for the film even begging my parents to buy me figures of everything spiderman to show how excited and happy I was for it.
Ever since the first Avengers film, when I saw it when I was very little, I keep asking myself where was Spider-Man, I keep thinking to myself, Andrew Garfield Spider-Man would’ve definitely worked. After the amazing Spider-Man three was canceled I remember keeping up with all of the latest Spider-Man news, casting design choices, and where the story would go and being genuinely excited and this was back in middle school, Jesus time goes by fast.
What really got to me was how Tom Spidey's introduction was literally TWO YEARS after Amazing Spider-Man 2 There are literally longer waits for sequels in the same film franchise but Sony and Marvel just rushed him in there like it was an attempt to forget about the TASM films even though those were heavily marketed. And I remember having to explain to my classmates why Spider-Man was just now with the Avengers and what happened to Andrew Garfield Crazy times
I feel so old man, I was 14 a freshman in high school when I followed all the news in this time, I especially remember watching the reveal trailer for captain America civil war in my high school classroom in the middle of class
I remember the era of Spider-Man entering the MCU. I was a child, & remember being intrigued to see what he'd look like. That fan made teaser where Spider-Man's costume didn't have webs on it had me geeked. In my child eyes it looked legit. And what made me even more excited was that fan made Age of Ultron fan made post credit scene where a window cleaner is cleaning a window in NYC when Andrew Garfield Spider-Man is in the background watching on the side of a building & says “Hey, you missed a spot!" Ah good times. Thanks for the dose of nostalgia.
Homecoming was IMO a great setup for a great street level, a true Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man trilogy, but the sequels didn´t play on that idea. Don´t know if it was Marvel or Sony though that made that decision.
I remember watching lhugeney’s Civil War video and being shocked to see Spider-Man. Also fun fact: An early Iron Man Script was going to have Tony Stark as the one who built Raimiverse Otto’s tentacles, but it was scrapped because Sony didn’t want to share the rights with Marvel at the time
I'm genuinely amazed Asa was able to get shortlisted. He is amazing actor and has proved himself with Sex Ed, Then You Came and House of Tomorrow, but he really doesn't have much range for the Hollywood blockbuster movies.
this brings a lot of memories from High School back in 2015 going to websites and imagining what would the new Spider-Man look like as well as following some news plus also looking at the fanart and fake leaks
Damn, part of me wished they went with Sony's older Spider-Man concept and be a Kraven's Last Night adaptation. But I guess it still worked out considering we got Peter B Parker which was basically what Sony wanted with their reboot.
What a time, man. I remember being like 12 wondering why Andrew wasn’t in the avengers movies and hearing the news that the character was going to the mcu then eventually seeing the civil war trailer it was all so crazy

I will always hate sony for cutting andrew garfield. civi war could perfectly fit his spiderman. also I remember that fake post-credits scene we all believed was real
Ah the good old days. I was in Middle School 9 years ago when this was all unfolding and it definitely helped combating being so depressed back then, in fact I fantasized the idea of Green Goblin and Carnage being the villains for new Avengers movies and them adapting Maximum Carnage and Dark Reign as Avengers movies and thought about the idea of Norman Osborn being the next Thanos before I knew that Sony was and still are very stingy when it comes to the IP.
Even though I don’t love it as much as I did 8 years ago… I will have to admit… it was pretty cool to see Tom Holland as Spider-Man. Let alone Spider-Man finally being in the MCU at a time where some Marvel characters couldn’t make it in the shared universe.
Man i still remember how hyped i was back in 2016 i was 12 and first saw Spider-Man in the civil war trailer show during the nickelodeon kids choice awards he had what i though at at the time was the perfect costume just for the moving eyes i was a young optimistic tween no I'm a sinical adult in collage wondering how i could ever get a job 😢😭
