Dude, I think I found the world's truest and most dedicated Spider-Man 3. I can tell you make your content on a low to none budget, but you have heart, creativity, and like you said, passion. I guess I'm in the majority who prefers Spider-Man 2, but I do believe Spider-Man 3 is overhated. I'm just glad to see someone express this much love and care for Spider-Man 3. Like I said, I prefer SM2, but SM3 really deserves its fans. I was thoroughly satisfied and impressed with this. You are on the right track. Keep making content like this, and you'll catch on.
There are two times in my childhood where a marketing campaign was specifically enjoyable to me. Usually marketing is whatever, but I’m genuinely super nostalgic for everything around Spider-Man 3. when i came out of seeing spiderman 2 i was 7 years old, and i remember that i came out too excited and completely in love with the character, and when i came out of seeing spiderman 3 it was the opposite, i'm sorry but i don't think SM3 was underrated, it had everything to be the best... and it failed.
I was 10! It actually came out on my 10th birthday and my Grandma took me to the drive-in to see it! Unfortunately, it was really late so I fell asleep for a lot of it. Don't remember too much outside of that because it was so long ago, but I do remember the drive-in was PACKED. There were even people who lived near it who got to see it for free by taking advantage of the location.
So cool there are people as nostalgic about the MARKETING as I was back then. These have such an amazing feel to them that showcase the aesthetic that was relevant back then. The beautiful early days of the internet and societial changes.

Honestly, the tone was so different. There was a dark, grim, introspective tone in the marketing, it felt like Requiem for a Dream, but with Spider-Man and the black suit instead of drugs.
I remember owning a sticker album that EVERYONE in the neighbourhood wanted to complete. I was so close to completing mine (only 4 or 5 stickers missing), and it still pisses me off to this day.
I’m so glad someone made a video particularly about the marketing of this movie. It was absolutely incredible and one of my favorite/memorable campaigns to look back on

SM3 came out on my birthday and my b-day party was at the theater. My mom even called into the Howard Stern show and got Tobey to say happy birthday! SM3 will always hold a special place for that alone

Great job with this, you did an awesome summarization of the zeitgeist at the time. I was 12 and thriving with all the SM3, it really did encompass so much of my life at that age and was there for all of it. I feel thankful for growing up with the movies and remember the hype for all of them and you're right as big as the first two felt, the marketing made 3 feel even larger.

Boy, I was on the hype train at the time. And there were even some fan trailers by WormyT and fan posters that even today looks very unconvincing. All because of the teaser that appeared in the Monster House DVD. VENOM THE BEST!

I still have my Spider-Man 3 cup from 7-Eleven. I dragged my wife to the midnight opening showing and the theater was electric. Two people dressed up in red and black costumes were play fighting and it was so cool. The movie didn’t live up to the hype but I still had a great time.

But I feel like the overwhelming marketing was too overhyped that it made people completely turn on it once it came out. I'm a year late on this vid but I too was completely engaged in the Spider-Man 3 marketing. TL:DR, I indulge in my childhood. I already loved Spider-Man from the first two movies on Full screen DVD & the cartoons comics available at the time. I'm pretty sure I first noticed the moody teaser poster when I looked up Spider-Man 3 one day on Google's I'm feeling Lucky tab. (I certainly don't use that feature anymore) & later on the equally moody teaser trailer right on my grandparents computer! (Does anyone download trailers anymore?) I was a happy kid. From there I'd journey on some fansites, not actually reading anything but admiring the promotional material wherever, like the Spidey chest posters. ❤❤❤ (One of these fansites was where I first saw the leaked Comic Con trailer with the scary Venom jump scare) l loved the trailers with the epic choir music but I also loved the trailers for the video game which were equally hype. (The game itself thou...) The main website was very atmospheric. Plus the Hasbro Kids website with the Flash games was my YT before YT & also where I saw that funny *THIS SATURDAY* commercial. (Really spoiled me cuz promotional websites started to dwindle during the 2010's 😞) I also indulged in Spider-Man 3 fan trailers which were my first exposure to UA-cam & my crippling addiction to it ever since! (Thank gosh I was only 6 & didn't read the comments cuz I might've had a different outlook back then 🤔) Commercials were everywhere on YTV & comic books. (YTV might as well have been TV for me) For the toys I had the New Goblin & black suit + a suit up Tobey & Sandman (I got a large Venom toy after the movie I think) I even got the Mega Bloks builds after the film came out & wore the black suit for Halloween. (No I didn't replicate the dance scene. It wasn't a meme yet) Walking down the Spider-Man 3 section at Toys R Us was a delight. I couldn't believe it when the movie came out. Saw the film that Friday (I don't remember who I watched it with...) AAAANNNNDDD...I liked it. I saw it twice in theaters & watched it just as much as the first two on DVD. (no special features disc thou 😥) I kinda forgot about the marketing afterwards (As I assume you were supposed to 😆) I wasn't aware of the discourse until I watched Nostalgia Critic's top 11 stupid Spider-Man moments of all things. & watching videos from CinemaSins & other UA-camrs alike. I wasn't prepared for the internet to shape my own views of movies & games. A pretty gullible trait in hindsight. Later on after the TASM hype, I started thinking about the trailers & how the choir music gave off a very different & darker vibe compared to the film itself. (Admittingly Christopher Young's soundtrack also played a part in that) It got me thinking about how different films & trailers used to be. Ever since though I've come back to loving the film on it's own merits, & fondly remembering the marketing campaign as well. (& I don't watch Nostalgia Critic or CinemaSins anymore haha)

The marketing was WAY bigger than NWH. But the the raw hype behind NWH was bigger, without a doubt. But yea Movies like Batman 89, 02 & 07 Spidey will always have the most insane marketing.
Don’t forget how huge the marketing for The Dark Knight,The first iron man film,the Incredible Hulk,transformers 07,Superman returns,Star Wars Episode 3: revenge of the sith,Shrek the third,and other films that came out in that era are
@ every film’s marketing from that era wasn’t as big as Spider-Man/89, ROTS & Transformers yea sure. Though Transformers hype/merch/Ads alone mainly grew after the movie released. I just remember people being enthusiastic on seeing it. I will say once the movie released the hype might’ve eclipsed Spider-Man 3 lol. But it’s marketing before hand was not on Spidey or 89’s lvl. Nolan’s movies had a UNQIUE marketing strategy for fans to unlock hints/trailers in a detective scavenger hunt kinda way, but the Dark knight wasn’t borderline everywhere before the movie released. & there was controversy anyway because of Heath Ledger, which of course aged poorly.
Still love how Spider-Mania was at such an all-time high around the SM3 era that Sony even gave its next PlayStation the same look... and honestly it goes kinda hard despite how much nicer looking the subsequent rebrand from 2009 onward is The PS3 ITSELF is a Spider-Man 3 tie in

I'm a year late on this vid but I too was completely engaged in the Spider-Man 3 marketing. TL:DR, I indulge in my childhood.
I already loved Spider-Man from the first two movies on Full screen DVD & the cartoons comics available at the time. I'm pretty sure I first noticed the moody teaser poster when I looked up Spider-Man 3 one day on Google's I'm feeling Lucky tab. (I certainly don't use that feature anymore) & later on the equally moody teaser trailer right on my grandparents computer! (Does anyone download trailers anymore?) I was a happy kid. From there I'd journey on some fansites, not actually reading anything but admiring the promotional material wherever, like the Spidey chest posters. ❤❤❤ (One of these fansites was where I first saw the leaked Comic Con trailer with the scary Venom jump scare) l loved the trailers with the epic choir music but I also loved the trailers for the video game which were equally hype. (The game itself thou...) The main website was very atmospheric. Plus the Hasbro Kids website with the Flash games was my YT before YT & also where I saw that funny *THIS SATURDAY* commercial. (Really spoiled me cuz promotional websites started to dwindle during the 2010's 😞) I also indulged in Spider-Man 3 fan trailers which were my first exposure to UA-cam & my crippling addiction to it ever since! (Thank gosh I was only 6 & didn't read the comments cuz I might've had a different outlook back then 🤔) Commercials were everywhere on YTV & comic books. (YTV might as well have been TV for me) For the toys I had the New Goblin & black suit + a suit up Tobey & Sandman (I got a large Venom toy after the movie I think) I even got the Mega Bloks builds after the film came out & wore the black suit for Halloween. (No I didn't replicate the dance scene. It wasn't a meme yet) Walking down the Spider-Man 3 section at Toys R Us was a delight.
I couldn't believe it when the movie came out. Saw the film that Friday (I don't remember who I watched it with...) AAAANNNNDDD...I liked it.
I saw it twice in theaters & watched it just as much as the first two on DVD. (no special features disc thou 😥) I kinda forgot about the marketing afterwards (As I assume you were supposed to 😆) I wasn't aware of the discourse until I watched Nostalgia Critic's top 11 stupid Spider-Man moments of all things. & watching videos from CinemaSins & other UA-camrs alike. I wasn't prepared for the internet to shape my own views of movies & games. A pretty gullible trait in hindsight. Later on after the TASM hype, I started thinking about the trailers & how the choir music gave off a very different & darker vibe compared to the film itself. (Admittingly Christopher Young's soundtrack also played a part in that) It got me thinking about how different films & trailers used to be.
Ever since though I've come back to loving the film on it's own merits, & fondly remembering the marketing campaign as well. (& I don't watch Nostalgia Critic or CinemaSins anymore haha)
Damn, there were these LEGO Spider-Man sets that I wanted with all my heart. I saved my money to buy them all but, as every 15 y/o, I got distracted and invested that money in every teenager pocket money's kryptonite: *dating a girl.*
You want to talk about that hype, here's something I'm sure no one else remembers there is Spider-Man 3 green apples soda...... It was the best Green Apple soda I had outside of the Fanta one which isn't available in my state apparently

ROTS & Transformers yea sure. Though Transformers hype/merch/Ads alone mainly grew after the movie released. I just remember people being enthusiastic on seeing it. I will say once the movie released the hype might’ve eclipsed Spider-Man 3 lol. But it’s marketing before hand was not on Spidey or 89’s lvl.
Nolan’s movies had a UNQIUE marketing strategy for fans to unlock hints/trailers in a detective scavenger hunt kinda way, but the Dark knight wasn’t borderline everywhere before the movie released. & there was controversy anyway because of Heath Ledger, which of course aged poorly.
