The original idea for eddie's death was so cool, peter pulls him out of the symbiote like what we saw in the movie, but only his skeleton came out, and the symbiote tries to rebound to peter only to be killed by the falling spikes resonating in his body

@@Lvestfold4143 nah nah im not denying that, but venom not working in spiderman 3 was not self-sabotage by any stretch of the imagination. He didn’t want venom in the movie, but he clearly did do his best to do justice to the most popular spiderman villain
I feel like everything could have gone smoother if they just focused on the black suit and sandman for SM3, maybe with Vulture, and saved Venom and Carnage for 4 and 5 respectfully. Topher Grace would have had time to bulk up for a new appearance. With all respect to Andy Serkis, Sam Raimi would have a field day adapting maximum Carnage.
The reason they went so heavy on the cosmic body horror element was because the FX crew and Sam raimi himself were heavily inspired by "John Carpenters The Thing" . I prefer this style of FX for the venom character on screen. It calls back to classic venom were he wasn't enormous like he is today. The muscle and size came from eddie brock, which makes eddie a more important factor when he becomes venom. Now a daysthe size for eddie doesn't matter. they've been making venom almost the size of hulk for years. It doesn't matter who wears the symbiote now if they all land up looking huge. It takes some specialty away from the bond that eddie and the suit have. Whats the point of "WE" if anyone like a homeless man can were the suit and look just like venom. It takes me back to an old quote from the comics. "The symbiote could have bonded with anyone.....but only the rage and vengefulness of eddie brock could have created venom"
No bs. My. Favorite. Quote. About venom ever. I love that quote ever since I was a 7-year-old kid till now as a 33 year old man. I don't mind some of the other hosts, Flash Thompson did great, but the true Venom will always be Eddie brock.
well to be fair with venom being super big and eddie being big but not that BIG, the symbiote exaggerates everything about its host, not just emotions, but physicallity too, however for the most part i agree with you
The venom eating Eddie's skin makes sense since it has the characteristics of symbiosis which needs a host to survive and the unused animatronic does look better than what we got in the movie
@@GodzillaMonsters-ch6gv if Venom bonded with peter being naked, MAYBE it could have eaten peter, plus i think Its not the symbiote fault but its peter's fault which made him have a agressive and emo attitude which affected the symbiote to have a attitude similiar to him.
I love the horror element of some of that. I’m in the minority I know but I liked the way Venom looked in Spider-Man 3. He was muscular and bigger than Parker but not hulking. The original venom was strong and big but it still fit the wearer Eddie Brock perfectly. Brock was a body builder so it didn’t increase his mass. Then marvel went nuts making Venom this huge hulking monster that no normal human could fit in. Sure they were in there floating around I guess.
@@matthewrivera9759 the hulking monster concept was invented in the 2000's with Ultimate Venom, who was gigantic, and while inside the suit it seemed like the wearer would melt away until they came out of it
I don't mind the monstrous venom approach, like someone in this comment section wrote it feeds on emotions. And makes the user significantly stronger. I think it kind of makes sense he can control his muscle mass to become more intimidating because he's a fucking goo monster.
I don't mind a big venom. But carnage on the other hand is just strange being so large. That's one of my gripes with let there be carnage is at the end when carnage is like 20 feet tall.
My headcanon about why Eddie's transformation into Venom was more intense than Peter's and the alternate death scene with the skeleton was because Peter was only ever bonded with the Symbiote on a surface level as a suit, unlike Eddie, whose bonding process with the symbiote goes way deeper, literally, it crawled it way inside of his body.
I feel the test audience and obviously the studio really destroyed some cool things that could have been like the concept art with venom hurting and Deforming the body really works especially for how venom was suppose to represent addiction and rage mixing and how they create monsters
@@spidergoblin. Except Peter would be an allegorical example of someone who stumbled into illicit use and defaulted to it when down on his luck, but refused to continue and let it change the kind of person he was after realizing how badly it was affecting him. Brock on the other hand, leaned into it with utter abandon. He didn’t just get a bit too comfortable with it for a bit, he embraced it as a lifestyle because he valued the feelings it provided far more than his relationships or own integrity. It’s basically an illustration of a sketchy phase one grows from in the end, vs indifferently letting it consume your life.
@@spidergoblin. Maybe, symbiote took more aggressive approach with Eddie, because “just suit” didn't work out with Peter, besides Eddie must be augmented by greater degree to compete with Peter. I believe eventually Peter would be changed aswell.
@@spidergoblin. They could've had it where it became more aggressive after Peter ripped it off almost feeling betrayed. In this new aggressive form it starts to eat the user.
Am I the only one who liked that they were leaning full-on into body horror with Venom? That last one that showed how the symbiote had pretty much and transformed and devoured Eddie, using his skeleton as a meat suit was AWESOME. Really embodied the idea that Eddie wasn't wearing the suit, it was the suit wearing Eddie.
Raimi’s concepts for Venom would have been WAY better. Tweak Eddie’s character into someone with a little more depth, don’t make him a complete douche, and then gradually show this horrific mutation take place and make your audience sympathize with Eddie. Some of those mock ups were genius
I feel like most test audiences aren't complete fans of the movies they are selected to view. The Venom/Eddie skeleton has had a resounding love in the fan community. Shame a select few test audiences can change beats of a film.
As much as I love Venom, I would've loved to see Vulture as the antagonist instead. Not only is he an interesting choice but he was one of Spider-Man's first enemies but it could have opened an opportunity for more aerial battles, atleast we got that with Harry in the end.

I thought that Raimi himself decided to cut ends because of how much meddling Sony was putting on his potential scripts for 4. Like he suggested a movie focusing on the Vulture but then Sony (probably Avi Arad) asked him to add in elements that he didn't want just like what they did with 3.
@@frixkingly507considering how the Venom franchise is forming, i'm 100% sure Arad wanted a symbiote fest on that fourth film lol if that's the case i'm actually glad Raimi got out bc that movie would be another mess with all the studio interferencez
I actually really like the slimmed down, downsized look for Venom, I actually think he could work really well as a lanky, spindly and slender character, and I also really like the more creepy and grotesque concept designs, and I much prefer them to the Tom Hardy Venom, which is nice looking and comic accurate but I also think there's a levél of goofiness to it, and it's entirely CGI so there's no practical suit, which is always a downside for me
I get it’s your opinion, but the Venom you described is closer to how Carnage looks. Granted, in the movie Carange is slightly larger than Venom, but in the comics he’s smaller and more spindly-inspired by his sociopathic personality. Also, you’re never gonna get a good buff suit to make a more monstrous Venom. It would be too heavy for the actors. Also, for the CGI argument, disregarding their bodies, both live action Venoms have CGI heads.
@@jared2879 You don’t say. But when people see an Eddie Brock Venom, they usually expect a buff, Hulk-sized Venom. Venom doubles the strength of Eddie, and doubles his size. That’s how a majority of Eddie Brock Venom interpretations go. He’s supposed to be the antithesis of Spider-Man. Monstrous. Brutal. Cruel. And hulking. This ain’t an argument of how Venom would look on other characters like Deadpool, or Spider-Man. This is an argument of Venom attached to Eddie Brock. Their shared hatred and vindictive personalities combine to form the beast that is Venom.
While it's true that Venom initially lacks humanity, being more of a monster in his early career, it's not like the character never gains humanity as time goes on and his bond with Eddie strengthens. Obviously, it wouldn't have worked for a single feature film to have Eddie become Venom, AND become a good guy in the end after some clashes with Spider-Man, but still, could have been quite interesting had Raimi been given more time to really learn about the character and how Eddie and the symbiote have a complex relationship that could easily have weaved into multiple films. Of course, it's clear that the third Raimi film was just a mess of conflicting wants and demands from everybody involved in its creation. Hopefully the success of No Way Home means we could get a revival, even if it's just a much more satisfying conclusion in the form of a fourth film or a one-off comic.
@silicone unicorn Not “in love” the “in love” has romantic sexual connotations, which isn't the case for an asexual space goo, but probably loves in “special space symbiote goo” type of way which humans can't relate.
@@libertyprime1614 More like "loved in a symbiotic space goo way" as Venom, the symbiote, is pretty much a scorned lover who finds a new lover in the form of a fellow Peter Parker hater. It's ultimately why the symbiote chose Eddie, despite better candidates potentially existing (it's the Marvel Comics, there's a bajillion people with powers it could have bonded with instead).
@@GrammarNaziAUS The asexual symbiote goo doesn't need sexual instincts, they are worthless for it and even detrimental, but it does need to protect the host from harm, which may be some kind of "love". Calling them lovers is just an analogue, the same way you could call them brothers/friends, and hatred can come when one betrays the other or the other perceives this in such way. The truth is this kind of "love" doesn't exist in our world, there is just overlap like it is between love of a parent towards their child and love between two lovers, but there are still crucial differences.
@@libertyprime1614 I never disagreed with this assessment. It's asexual and asexually reproduces, and has no sexual organs, and therefore, has no sexual urges. It simply needs a host to survive, and the Venom symbiote was one of the few of its' species that thought a more permanent bond would work better. Lovers is simply an analogous term that you yourself used. I simply co-opted that and turned it into *former* lovers. The important part is the fact it was scorned. Not the lovers part, as I was just building off of you. My point ultimately was, once Peter rejects the symbiote, it goes to Brock, and becomes "his" lover. Get me?
I'm still really hurt that they built up Connor's to eventually be the Lizard, but that sadly never happened. I just didn't like how in TASM we already knew he was going to turn, where with the trilogy we saw him and Peter connect more etc.
A venom that's a bit more veiny and grotesque with some dripping sludge along with perhaps some pain and fear as Venom manipulates his host would have been nice. A little more tension between Eddy and Venom in SM3 would have been dope. Along with a little more conversation about a part of Venom being in Peter's body and lingering within him would have been dope in a more Venom centric Spiderman joint.
It really is a shame that so much of the horror elements were cut. We can even see in the final movie what a more monstrous creature venom is when Peter removed Eddie from the symbiote and all that is left is a screeching black mass that only vaguely resembles it’s former hosts.
Sony should have let Raimi do his original idea(maybe Vulture wasn't really needed though), and have the movie end with the church scene and Eddy getting the symbiote for the sequel.
Wow... That alternative ending was dark. I Honestly always wondered why Spiderman 3's venom was so slim and I got a satisfying answer. Very informative video and I really quite enjoyed it.
bruh theres so many concepts here that are ultimately unnecessary but would've just made the movie ever so slightly better. like the idea of having the movie be set during winter doesnt really matter at all, but also why not use that idea if it adds just a litter more distinctness?
They would have to change the production schedule to film during the winter time. Since they need to make this film quickly to avoid losing the rights; they couldn’t risk waiting.
I really like the purple, leaner, more liquidy venom concepts. It really sells the whole alien idea more than the obvious fabricish, hexagonal texture that the final suit had
2:56 I'm gonna be that one guy and say that Ultimate Spider-Man's Venom's color is black and it just has a purple hue to it so the artists could detail it more like muscle definition, and proper shading.
My Favorite movie of the Trilogy. I really wish it was Set during Winter/Christmas time because it’s my favorite time of the Year and always make a movie more memorable for me
Because of this video. I respect Sam Raimi and love Spider-man 3 more. No matter what Sam did. He created the best storyline, concept, and fight scene for Spider-man movies.
3:46 this actually makes more sense as the symbiote overlaps its host not create a creature like hulk buster iron suit where the host is on top of its helmet
Scrapping the warped skull and Eddie Brock actually being dead already feels like a huge missed opportunity to me. Would’ve made Venom’s defeat at the end even better, if you ask me
I love the look of the lizard in these concepts especially the second design of lizard I would've liked to have seen Dylan Baker get to be lizard in Sam Raimis vision of spider-Man 4
That's actually a common misconception. Sam Raimi doesn't really think venom lacks humanity. He simply didn't plan on using that character. It was something that was mandated by the studio.

One of movie history's most prominent casting mistakes was choosing Topher Grace for the role of Venom, when Dolph Lundgren would have been the obvious choice at that time. As I was watching this, I remembered that time where Kingpin beat Peter Parker to an inch of his life and thought, "that would be cool/disturbing to see in live action."

0:57 - 1:02 that's misinformation, Raimi didn't want to do Venom because he didn't know the character enough to do him justice. got nothing to do with the fact Venom "lacked humanity", Raimi just wasn't confident he could pull off Venom in a way respectful enough to the source material since he didn't have as much knowledge on it
People never notice but the Animatronic was also used in the scene on the news where Venom jumps at the camera, where Peter finds it on the Television at the Convenience Store.
The real reason why we didn't get to see the animatronic Venom is because of the stupid test audience. They found it so scary and suggested the studio to remove it according to them this is so scary for kids. This is how they ruined the whole movie.
Can you get me a source for this? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you have to at least finish principal photography before you can do a test screening, while the Venom animatronic seems to have been scrapped much earlier than that.
No he wanted vulture and sandman while harry was between good and bad, before they added venom and the new goblin, the hobgoblin idea was made in another channel called what if venom wasn't in spider man 3
So Spiderman 3 was filmed in my hometown of Cleveland Ohio. I can tell you exactly why it wasn't set in the winter. While the past 5 or so years we've had pretty warm winters with little snow. In the 2000's this was FAR from the case. Cleveland is located on the south shore of lake Erie. When it gets cold, the lake will cool down and make the city even COLDER. As well as the water if the lake condensing into even more snow than some regions of Canada. Very good information I knew about the black suit being changed but the rest not so much glad I watched this video so I’ll give it a like so I can watch again later if I need to
Venom and carnage would have been cool for 4 and 5 after Peter faces a lot of human problems to see how he applies this to a human who’s corrupted and one who was never really human to begin with
2:29 oh I like this one especially with the mouth which I would love to see the concept on the Predator, Aliens, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, the Creeper from Jeepers Creepers and Dracula from Blade Trinity and never like the new goblin both in concept and execution and I have heard that they were going to make Harry the Hobgoblin instead of Roderick Kingsley which I’m glad that they didn’t.

Then why didn't venom eat Spiderman since peter had it longer but he didn't even had a scratch
@@Spider-Hoger hmmm explain more pls
I love the horror element of some of that. I’m in the minority I know but I liked the way Venom looked in Spider-Man 3. He was muscular and bigger than Parker but not hulking. The original venom was strong and big but it still fit the wearer Eddie Brock perfectly. Brock was a body builder so it didn’t increase his mass.
Then marvel went nuts making Venom this huge hulking monster that no normal human could fit in. Sure they were in there floating around I guess.
Venom just exaggerates everything its host has, especially negative emotions.
It’s not marvels fault it’s Sony’s, we shouldn’t blame marvel for Sony’s mistakes😂😂
Though, it seems doesn't make any sense because Venom should deform Peter as well
@@spidergoblin.
I wish there is no test audience movie after this. Sometimes test audience is just annoying
I think it would've been awesome to have the movie set in winter. Especially with the black suit contrasting with the white snow
Reminds me of another Columbian Pictures movie: MEN IN BLACK.
Specifically with how the cockroach wore Edgar the farmer's skin as a suit.
would love to see one of these for Tom Hardy's Venom. would be really interesting to compare the concept work
Bruh what on earth would their be? It won’t be able to be in a video longer then 4:30 mins
I think Venom turned out pretty well
Yep should’ve used that OG suit, iconic as the murdered out suit is, the while widow symbol and white tarantula are just chefs kiss perfection.
Raimi’s concepts for Venom would have been WAY better. Tweak Eddie’s character into someone with a little more depth, don’t make him a complete douche, and then gradually show this horrific mutation take place and make your audience sympathize with Eddie. Some of those mock ups were genius
An unused concepts for the 2 Webb TASM and MCU Home trilogy would be an interesting follow-up for this series
I think the concept with Eddie’s skin bubbling and rotting away it’s because of the explosions from the pumpkin bombs that hery throws at him
That sounds awesome to see
I feel like most test audiences aren't complete fans of the movies they are selected to view. The Venom/Eddie skeleton has had a resounding love in the fan community. Shame a select few test audiences can change beats of a film.

Goddaaaaaaaaaaamn! Just imagine what Spider-Man 3 would've been like if it was fully focused on Venom.
But Sam Raimi doesn't understand venom so maybe it should have been in spider man 3
@@RagingBlazeBloodBaka he does.
Nicely done breakdown of how this film could've turned out. Raimis roots as a horror filmmaker really shine through in these venom concept art pieces.
Actually, Sam Raimi didn’t want Venom in the sequel because he wasn’t all that familiar with the character. Raimi’s real knowledge of Spiderman and all of his supporting characters all stem from the original Stan Lee and Steve Ditko run along with the John Romita Senior run. By the time Spiderman got rid of the Black Suit and the Symbiote found it’s way to Eddie Brock, Sam Raimi wasn’t reading Spiderman comics. Whenever Sam Raimi discussed the basic plot and storyline for the Spiderman movies, he liked to pull from the comics he either read or was familiar with. On top of that, Sony was hell-bent on shoehorning Venom into the third sequel regardless if Sam Raimi wanted that. That’s the main reason why Spiderman 3 is a bit disjointed upon viewing. It’s always a shame when the studio meddles with the director’s vision (I’m looking at you WB) because Spiderman 3 could’ve been an excellent sequel. That’s what makes it even more heartbreaking that Raimi and co were never given the opportunity to make Spiderman 4. Sam Raimi has stated that Spiderman 4 was going to be a serious return to form. Instead, Sony haphazardly decided to reboot the entire franchise thus scrapping all of the preproduction work for Spiderman 4. I really wanted to see John Malkovich as the Vulture and I wanted to see Spiderman interact with the Black Cat.
I thought that Raimi himself decided to cut ends because of how much meddling Sony was putting on his potential scripts for 4. Like he suggested a movie focusing on the Vulture but then Sony (probably Avi Arad) asked him to add in elements that he didn't want just like what they did with 3.
@@frixkingly507 That, plus the fact that they were filming the reboot behind his back anyway.
@@theserpent8667 Those studio execs really were a bunch of "vultures".
@@fisher3317 Ironic.
@@jaydonmagan4694 literally venom is not the size it’s the character and characters can be changed jeez
@@Iobsterpeterson Only for a few parts. Most of that time, that is a CGI head. No practical alien monster head mask is gonna move that fluidly.
@silicone unicorn
Try reading what I wrote before you mouth off like that
@silicone unicorn Not “in love” the “in love” has romantic sexual connotations, which isn't the case for an asexual space goo, but probably loves in “special space symbiote goo” type of way which humans can't relate.
Get me?

Yes pleas
I'm still really hurt that they built up Connor's to eventually be the Lizard, but that sadly never happened. I just didn't like how in TASM we already knew he was going to turn, where with the trilogy we saw him and Peter connect more etc.
It is pretty upsetting. I think that the lizard and maybe Mysterio or the Vulture could've been excellent for Spider-Man 4
Eh .....I am OK with Lizard as his first year villain
A venom that's a bit more veiny and grotesque with some dripping sludge along with perhaps some pain and fear as Venom manipulates his host would have been nice. A little more tension between Eddy and Venom in SM3 would have been dope. Along with a little more conversation about a part of Venom being in Peter's body and lingering within him would have been dope in a more Venom centric Spiderman joint.
I love how crazy most of these Venom designs are, he genuinely looks like an alien with flesh

A mutilated Venom is a unique take on the symbiote that I like personally. Makes the symbiote seem more dangerous and evil
Back when I was a kid we had the storm of 07' and I had to shovel several feet of the stuff every morning before school.
