A man of elegance both on and off the field. Was booked just twice in his entire career. So articulate with a calm and soothing voice. Cannot speak highly of him. A lot to learn from this thorough gentleman.
Charlton on the ball was devastating, he always looked like he was going to create a goal or score himself, amazing control and vision of the game. He's also a warm and humble man.
Thank God for sir Matt Busby. His ideology of bringing young players, has payved the way for generations and generations and will continue to do so!!! #GGMU !!!
Without a doubt, Bobby was the most fabulous player, humble man, and the finest player I ever saw on the football field, saw him many times during his career, thank you Bobby . I don’t think there’s ever an award that could truly say how honoured Bobby is
To this day Sir Bobby Charlton remains the greatest player ever to put on an England shirt. He has also been the perfect ambassador for both Man Utd and England, known and respected all over the world. There will never be another like Sir Bobby. The word "legend" is over-used these days, but Bobby is a true footballing legend.
Couldn't agree more. He is head and shoulders the very best English player ever. He never went missing for any game. So many English greats, like the Golden Generation, never imposed themselves like Bobby did. He was a phenomenal workhorse.
I don’t think Bobby Charlton would agree. He says edwards was much better than him. There were also 3 or 4 other Busby babes who were as good, such as Eddie Colman. All the pros who saw Edwards play say he was the best they’ve ever seen.
The nicest most humble man, a magnificent footballer, an amazing human being, along with George and Denis Law, made me a Man United fan as a wee boy, i have been a Rangers fan for 50 years, but Bobby is a man i admire most as a football fan, a true great, no question, just a delight to listen to. Long live you Bobby and your delightful wife.
His everything that was great about british football . Worshipped the guy as a kid and still do . When Man United and Best , Law and Charlton were in town the grounds were a sell out . And anything outside the 18yrd box would probably serve up a Charlton thunderbolt I can still remember a few of his specials against the likes of Spurs and Arsenal,s of this world . The goal against mexico in 66 , as soon as he picked it up and started running towards the Mexican goal you just new he would unleash one of his specials . A very special english footballer is our Bobby .

I'm from Belfast Ireland 🇮🇪 and as you can see I claim to be Irish. So what I'm trying to say is this, our two nations have had extremely troubled past, but I would like to let you English into our secret here in west Belfast. Every time England plays we all support you and are looking forward to the time when the football world is right again, and England wins the World Cup.
RIP Sir Bobby when he talks about the 1999 final you can see he gets emotional at the end Manchester United meant everything to him he really was Mr Manchester United.
From being a schoolboy apprentice at United no other British player has such an interesting football career as this humble man. What a story. He has the important medals to back it up.What a player Bobby was,I was lucky enough to see him play.R.I.P
He's even spoken decently of Leeds; a much better man than I. Sir Bobby, thank you for always being a perfect example of how to be a footballer and a manager, an ambassador and a man. My hat's off to you Sir.
Just watched this in full, and what a great level headed person Bobby was. He has been a truly great advocate and leader of the game I love. Never to be forgotten. RIP BOBBY.

Bobby Charlton….an absolute legend. His memory and recall of games was superb !, God bless you Bobby…You were and absolute inspiration to millions of people…I could listen to you for hours ! May you be with your loved ones in heaven and catching up with the Busby babes..👍😇
Sir Bobby is so modest. Talking sbout the Mexico match in the 1966 World Cup he merely says he managed to score a goal. I remember that moment, as a 15 year old, and when he unleashed that pile-driver and it hit the back of the net it was electrifying! No wonder the team settled down after that and started playing with confidence.
When the subject of the 1966 World Cup came up, I wish the interviewer had asked him about Jimmy Greaves, England's greatest ever goal-scorer, who was omitted from the final.
Great Player, one of the best, but in the "Mega Millions" world we live in now, with the Diving, flashy,"Super Star's" and yet Bobby Charlton&his Brother Jack(a tremendous tough&effective Centre half) and successful Manager with Ireland☘️(who had some decent individuals from time to time, but were expected to get beat, until he took over&we know the rest!)always maintained a classy, dignified,"Down to earth" manner.. Although Bobby Charlton was unquestionably one of our greatest players ever, and gets a spot in my all-time England XI, he wasn't the best player in our '66 squad: that honour goes to Bobby Moore, cited to this day as the best defender of all time by none other than Franz Beckenbauer. That squad boasted 4, maybe 5 world class players: Banks, Moore, Charlton, Greaves, and according to observers at the time, Ray Wilson, regarded by many as the best left back in the world.
When I used to follow utd all over fans might not appreciated utd but they all appreciated bobby.great interview .best interview ever of Bobby and I'm sure many more fans would love this ,I don't know why I've never seen it before
Great stuff. One thing that got glossed over, probably due to his modesty, was his transition from winger to midfield general. She asked the question then was probably to polite to follow up. He mentioned Don Revie is that role but he was the master. I was so lucky to see him from 63 to 70 and even now, he doesn't really get his due. Naturally people focus on the power of his shot, with both feet but his control of midfield has never been surpassed. Nobby and Crerand, predominantly, would get him the ball (he's candid about his own lack of tackling) and he would take over. Not just hitting passes of all lengths but controlling the spin. Outside of the right foot to curl into the stride of the left winger. Hit high like a wedge shot with backspin for Law to collect at speed. Artistry..
Saw this legend walking towards me years ago on his way to his car at Old Trafford, was there late as with others who went to meet utd players as they were a utd supporters group, but being a Southampton supporter I waited outside .. glad i did shook the hand of this legend and a true gent .....
The question about how he 'personally' was affected by Munich was superb - I don't he'd ever been asked about Munich like that before, and his answer was beautiful. I also loved what he said about his crying -but when he won, ever when he lost - and how he cries even now when watching great sporting achievements. He's wrong though about a defender making a mistake enabling George Best to go through and score the vital goal in the 1968 European Cup final - it did look look that at first glance, but a close look reveals that George was so quick he whipped the ball away from the defender in a fraction of a second, the defender could do nothing about it. GREAT interview, thank you!
Wonderful to have this interview in the light of Sir Bobby's subsequent dementia diagnosis. What a classy man. I can see how Best's lifestyle would have driven Sir Bobby mad. Sir Bobby was the ultimate professional and like George was a genius.
As an Irishman Bobby Charlton is part of why I have supported England. Fair minded and confident in his own abilities. Friends with former opponents, says it all.

I grew up watching Bobby. I was not a United fan. I've seen all the best English players since. But I feel he is the greatest ever English player to have ever played the game. Some have now scored more, played more games, got more caps Etc. But he is loved and respected so much because he never coasted, and was a great representative both on and off the field. He was my boyhood hero, and the player I must wanted to be like.

I watched this because I love listening to Bobby Charlton. I hate soccer. ....or at least I do not care about it. But he is a great man and a gentleman, and he is awesome.
Excellent questions, and it's nice to hear an interviewer not interrupt. However, a few more follow-up questions and interaction with would Bobby said would have improved it. Have a conversation rather than just going through a list of pre-prepared questions and making it all one way.
I watched this interview completely and I can honestly say that sir Bobby Charlton is a great man and a true English legend
