    Just went canoe camping for the first time with my lady this summer Minnesota. Incredibly rewarding and we're itching to give it another go. The only down side... on our way out we took some wake from an impatient speed boat at a channel crossing. Soaked our gear which was in our backcountry backpacks, including our sleeping bag which made for a rough night. Going to have to look into those dry bags for our next go, and maybe look in AR for our next cross country go.

    • @GatewoodBrown
      @GatewoodBrown  2 роки тому

      Man sounds like a good time minus the wake! I always say that if you’re boating the gear will get wet somehow. So whatever needs to stay dry should be stashed away in a dry bag. Good thing you guys were heading in!

    The Ouachita’s are truly a gorgeous place, been there many times. You captured the beauty of this area very well. For me personally, there’s this strange mysterious energy in this area, it might have something to do with the lack of development, not much tourism, etc. Not sure, but I feel as though as long as we have skilled outdoorsy individuals (such as yourselves) treating these places right, everything will be right with the world.

    • @GatewoodBrown

    Hey buddy how's it going. This was a great adventure you & Lisa did. The island looks so nice and peaceful and so did the water. I like how you had so many islands to choose from. This video was perfect timing cuz I am staring at eight inches of snow on the ground right now. My kids wanted me to go kayak snowing with them! I see no thank you I do not have a dry suit for that white water & it's cold too. Love those sandals you was wearing. I'm trying to get me a pair in the springtime for kayaking. My flip-flops broke on me in the river back in the summertime & I had to finish the rest of my day barefooted 👣 & I had to take my kids to like Walmart & the grocery store school was getting ready to start. It was challenging trying to get in the store and walk around the stores barefooted 👣 but was able to do it the only problem I had was a guy in Walmart laughing at me about how fat I was , how fat my toes were , & how wide my foot was. He was yelling it out real loud in the store for everybody to hear it. How was kind of embarrassed cuz this is a problem that I cannot help. When he walked by me and my son's real real slow staring at my feet I was trying to figure out why he was he staring at them like that I should had known he was going to say something about me having wide feet & being Barefooted 👣. Good video brother thank you for sharing. This helped take the snow off my mind.

      @@GatewoodBrown oh yes it's brutal man & we about to get more snow 3" to 6" inches tomorrow night. I'm a little okay with it cuz at least my toes are stay warm this year with my new shoes. You're right man I can't wait until spring is here. I'm ninety-five percent of the time barefooted 👣 more than I am wearing my flip-flops. But I usually have my flip-flops on when I go into the store cuz no shoes no service. When my flip-flops broke I was no where Coast to home & Walmart do not carry any size 15 Footwear. Yeah I could fix that my wife said I just need to leave another pair of flip-flops underneath the seat so the sun does not shrink them up. Thank you buddy & cheers to the new years for you and your family too.

      @@GatewoodBrown yes I agree with you that is a lot of snow. Yes that is true my neighbor was shocked to see me having shoes on my feet and was shoveling my driveway. My neighbor usually helps my kids shovels my driveway cuz I couldn't shovel my driveway in flip-flops. I have a real good neighbor I tried to pay him for it and it will not let me pay him. Oh yes my feet are built really tough. I have been used to doing things barefooted 👣 ever since I was born. I can walk across black pavement barefooted 👣 in 90° temperatures with no problem. All five of my kids try to do that but they can't do it. The only problem that I have now is since I broke both of my feet in the truck 🚛 accident. When cold weather get to my feet they make my feet hurt really really bad that's why I had to find some shoes really fast. I still can wear flip-flops in 30° temperature . I just was on Monday wearing flip flops in 30 degree temperatures with 4" inches of snow on the ground & putting gas in my car & my feet were not cold.
