There is a big issue with the Ai which is that it's imploding the art of metal, the visual art and the music as a package. If Deicide was controversial in the 90s it was outward, this is attacking itself, unless the band's core was fake to begin with. That's a tough one to tiptoe around.

If we're talking about edginess, Arghoslent wins it in the death metal category ahead of Cannibal and Deicide. They're banned from iTunes and all major metal festivals
The best part is they’re not even that edgy.. lyrically. Activist Jews that police music scenes just take huge offense to unflattering lyrics about black ppl (especially in a literate, historically accurate sense) so they were extremely targeted.

There's something about bands becoming too popular that makes me stop enjoying them as much as I did when their fanbase was more selective. Death not only transcends the Death Metal fanbase, they have successfully crossed over to being accepted by casual everyday music customers that occasionally buy music while shopping at Walmart.

Drummer here. Fastest blasts ever? Not Pete, Tony or Longstreth. It's Flo Mounier of Cryptopsy. There was a Czech band in the early 00's called Alienation Mental that had some pretty insane blasts. Brad from Devourment is pretty quick. Columbian band with members of Internal Suffering called Goretrade were fast as fuck also. Today? Probably Archspire. But who cares It's been a 50 way tie for 25 years now.

I think you're confusing death metal with just sounding brutal. Human is progressive death metal. It's just a different kind of death metal. Deathcore can sound brutal but it's not death metal. Just like not all death metal is ultra brutal.

Brutal truth extreme conditions demand extreme responses (1992) has very noticeably faster blast beats than formulas and the inexorable, hell, some parts on those Kevin Talley dying fetus albums have faster blast beats, how about the first song on blasphemy made flesh, or how about something like gorgasm orgy of murder. I know people are going to say that extreme conditions is grindcore, because metal fans just love splitting hairs and arguing over stupid things that don’t actually matter where most people don’t care about (I know I’m kind of one them) but their first album (brutal truth) goes both ways for death metal and grindcore.

Human is Traditional Metal with Cookie Monster Vocals, and some jazz elements. Perseverance of Power is the Heaviest Death album released after Leprosy. Only Scream Bloody Gore, and Leprosy are remotely Death Metal. Human is by far the weakest Death album, and the album cover art sucks. Anything related to Cynic is wimpy. Human is Cynic with Chuck Schuldiner as a session musician. Children of Bodom is more Death Metal than Human, even Control Denied is more Death Metal than Human and the lame KISS cover tune. Flattering of the Emotions is about as 'Brutal ' as Taylor Swift. Wimpy save the environment lyrics. The artwork on the new Deicide is better than the horrible quality of the Human art. Human is the St Anger of Death Metal.
