I love how incredibly normal George is. I just read an interview he did talking about how he’s been doing Weight Watchers for a while and has lost like 35lbs.

George has just done so well in life. Not only did he make a comfortable living achieving his dream of singing death metal, but he has a nice home and a great family. And on top of it all, he's one of the happiest and friendliest people you'll ever meet. Dude just totally deserves everything he has.

Crabington Not surprising that you feel that way at all, specially when there's a stereotype about people who are in these type of bands. You would think that they're pretty tough and intimidating but when you get to know them, its so different. In reality what they do is just a fraction of who they are, its just a show.
Actually I think the stereotype is what you describe. There is no better way to make believe that one is an absolutely harmless and conformed individual than being death metal nowadays. Not fitting the stereotype is a stereotype too and it is as boring as watching mr. fisher do shopping instead of fucking people with knives.

In every facet of life we have people that do authentically constructive and positive things and those that scam or mask in any way that they can. It's awesome when a "good" person can express extremes artistically and we can enjoy and appreciate that in an abstract sense. However, there's corrupt and damaged people out there. The worst is when those people create really great art, and after finding out other things the person did, we have to collectively battle whether the art can truly exist separate the person creating it. We argue the premise, but it's slimy business no matter the outcome.

metfan4l we live in a crazy time. Just 10-15 years ago every image of an artist was measured and planned. 10,000 photos taken with just one released to the public. A photo of Dio shopping at Kmart would have been insane & unheard of. Now Cannibal Corpse shows us bargain hunting at Target & I am sure it only helps his career...but definitely does not hurt it. Metallica with Some Kind of Monster seemed so intrusive at the time. Now the world has 24/7 access to everyone. Always.

My buddy used to take care of bands at the Academy in Dublin... he said Mumford & Sons were the biggest assholes he ever met but Cannibal Corpse were insanely friendly, down to earth dudes.
