By the way totally left off even had pulled but was off to the side THE CROWN - Deathrace King. DEFINITELY IN TOP FUCKING 10!!!!
Good picks, just wanted to ask where you rate god dethroned’s lair of the white worm.
absolutely. KILLING STAR KILLING STAR
That one, Hell Is Here, and Eternal Death send every other band of that style home on a stretcher. Janne's drum performance on Hell Is Here is one of the craziest things I've ever heard.
Great picks overall. Swedish death metal rules for various reasons. So many good releases.
@@letumvultur God Dethroned is from the Netherlands, brah
5. Ensponged - Left Hand Patrick
4. Spongemember - Indescene and Bobscene
3. Bobphobic - Dark Sponges
2. Spongebath - Nightmares Made Wet
1. Unsponged - Patrick in the Deep
Disponge- nothing but the krust
General spongery- krustology
Spongeslaughter - Yellow is the color of F.U.N.
Spongepocrisy - Alien Trousers
@PigeonSmuggler the band has to be Swedish, but good one nonetheless
Like an Ever Flowing Bikini Bottom
Seance - Fornever laid to rest ( Very brutal vocals)
Luciferion Demonication ( like a mix of Deicide and Morbid Angel)
seance is boring as hell.
Demonication is way ahead of everything hate eternal and nile speeds before those bands had albums also very techincal aswell one of my top death metal albums of all time!
Spongebob. Squarepants.
"Fvckin ninja turtles slay that shit"
Pink. Panty.
What's heavier than SpongeBob SquarePants?
Dirty. Dan.
@@FumesofHatred”who you calling pinhead!”
Anytime i see a modern band jock the Entombed logo is normally a hard pass. But personally Gorement -The Ending Quest although the EP is UNREAL.
Are ya ready kids?
J Dawg, how many times have you completed Kingdom Hearts brah brah?
Priceless video, thanks 🤘🤘I've been waiting awhile for Hypocrisy's new album.
Personal faves
Grave- Soulless (Has my favorite Grave song on it, that being Bullets Are Mine)
Seance- Saltrubbed Eyes
Dismember- Indecent and Obscene
Defaced Creation- Serenity In Chaos
Insision- Beneath The Folds of Flesh
Edge of Sanity- Purgatory Afterglow
Vomitory- Raped In Their Own Blood
Crown of Thorns aka The Crown- Eternal Death
At The Gates- With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness
Necrophobic- The Nocturnal Silence
Hypocrisy- Osculum Obscenum
Grotesque- In The Embrace of Evil
Deranged- High On Blood
Visceral Bleeding- Transcend Into Ferocity
Murder Squad- Ravenous, Murderous
Indescent and Obscene is also my fav Dismember! The blood and rawness blast through the speakers!
@@jeremyhassell7911 My man! I love every Dismember album, but that one takes the gold. Pure, unadulterated brutality from beginning to end.
Crematory - "Wrath from the Unknown" fucking crushes all of that
Cool about the Deranged LP on Hell's another reissue I look forward to!
III is a great Deranged album. It's hard to pick a favorite amongst the first 5 but i do love Plainfield Cemetery. Definitely want that "Cut, Carve, Rip Serve" vinyl!
That is a nice list. I spoke to Fred from Dismember when they were on the "Pieces" Tour about the songs on the Carnage "Dark Recollections" and he stated that all those songs were Dismember songs that got transferred to Carnage songs. That is why they used to play Carnage songs on tour during the "Pieces" Tour. I remember them playing Dark Recollections, Malignant Epitaph, and Deranged from Blood. This was in the US Tour with Suffocation during 1993, I think; memory is foggy.
I don't know if you like these other bands from Sweden:
Seance - Fornever Laid to Rest - A Picture disc would be nice
Cemetary - Evil Shade of Grey - A Picture disc would be nice too
Crematory - Denial
Goddefied - Inhumation of Shred Compilation
Defleshed - Ma belle scalpelle
Glad to see Merciless on there, that album rules!
Cemetery An Evil Shade of Grey is a really underrated album.....and the Nihlist Premature Autopsy demo kills
Unleashed Across the Open Sea was such a killer release! 🤘🏼
That’s my personal favorite one by them.
I love that album
Their first 3 are all good. If They Had Eyes was the best Unleashed song
@@Hecatecrossways That song does kick major ass
I think all first 3 releases are very worthy, Warrior they really started to change, but sitll an OK album, fucking live CDs are excellent too.

Hell yeah. Gotta do that top favorite grindcore/goregrind list now Dawg 🤘
Patiently waiting haha we need a top 100 eps count haha
Grindcore: Listen to 8 full length albums in under 90min
@@KaaiHawaiianDeathMetalthe sound of a jack hammer and the tracks keep counting and going hahaha
@@humanbrisket7718 I love me some old school grind
Here’s one for you guys, since the Dawg was just talking about Sweden. Retaliation- The Execution. It’s like 20 tracks in 15 minutes, just the way I like my grind haha
Nice shirt J-Dawg!
17:19 new J-Dawg soundbite just dropped
There's several new soundbites to be had on this one and I recorded em. Dawg was definitely stoked to do this vid.
2 more swedish albums worth checking out are
Apostle- dusk for convenience
Morbid illusion - in the crypt of the stifled
Great to see Authorize getting props. I discovered that when The Crypt did a reissue. They do excellent work.
You should do your top Ohio albums Dawg. So many great bands from your state. Blessed Sickness, Lucifixion, Gutted, Blood Coven, Embalmer, you name em
Midnight
Integrity
Does the ALMIGHTY Nunslaughter count?
200 Stab Wounds is from Ohio too- know how much the Dawg loves them😂
J dawg will you guys ever release special presses like Centvrians of purest fire with burnt Bible pages and Chronozoic with the blood? I got both of those and they are awesome
Me too...LOVE those 1st 2 records with Seth on vocs! Their following albums are good too but? Are missing those Seth vocs that made those early releases just savage! 🤘🔥🤘
I've got an original Anti Mosh (Deathlike Silence) pressing of that Merciless. Smells like a librarians kunt. Worth a pretty penny. "Unbound" is a great album too. Gorement "The Ending Quest" is killer too.
what the hell does a librarians Knut smell like and how do you know? ;)
Jdawg any lift tips ? I’m trying two marshmallows till failure but I can’t get it off the ground
I never got in to entombed. I never will. As for the rest of your list. Pretty damn solid. I bought Unleashed-Where No Life Dwells when it was the hit new jam. Came out right after my 15th birthday. That album is still badass
For me it was the early Entombed stuff..wasn't really into the Wolverine Blues either. I kinda like Dismember better with that similar 'buzzsaw' guitar aound or whatever they call it. Funny I bought Unleashed 'where no life dwells' used copy randomly at one of those book and music exchange type places just cause the cover looked death metal lol. I was probably 18/19? Good times..its somewhere in my stash
Was at a party and this friend was playing songs on the ipod and I noticed he was trying to get tomas from morbosidads attention. Once he played the first song off lhp he got off his set to air guitar the intro haha. I hear ya Paul, that experience made me pick up lhp but I couldn’t get into their other material like clandestine or the other stuff
Nothing from Entombed really did anything for me. A friend of mine, one of the other 8 metalheads in town used to blast left hand path all the damn time when it came out. I just didn’t t like it. Yet I was jamming Dismember right and left. As well as Unleashed.
If I went by guitar sound. I never would’ve liked Dismember
@@KaaiHawaiianDeathMetalI hear ya when it comes to albums I can’t stop hearing it’s the first two carcass, repulsion horrified, severed survival, ultimo mondo and horror of the zombies, world downfall. I enjoy the Swedish bands but damn those I can’t get enough haha
Edge of Sanity "Purgatory Afterglow " Dan Swanö was killer on that. Heard it as a young teenager back in -96, -97. That was my intro to metal. 🤘
Unorthodox and The Spectral Sorrow are superior in my opinion
spectral sorrows = more classic swedish death metal, crimson = peak edge of sanity, imho
Unorthodox, their best.
Good one. 🤘
The awakening sounds like Pleasure to Kill and Into the Macabre being taken to the next level, great album.
All albums are great. Need to be blasted and scare the neighbors to the grave.
yes yes the Grotesque! I have the double wax version of it. IF you have read the Swedish Death metal book i think digby pearson says that grotesque was the only other band in sweden after Nihlist that he would have signed, but they broke up...
Under rated as fuuuuuk. real evil bizzo
the swedish death metal book compilation just got reissued on silver vinyl if you're so inclined. the only way to get Katalysator and the House of Usher song on vinyl.
What do you think of all the occult metal like portal ,teitenblood, mitochondrion, abyssal, ulcerate, antideluvian, imperial triumphant, all that chaotic stuff?
fecal matter
1. Clandestine 2. Where no life dwells 3. Like an ever flowing stream 4. Purgatory afterglow 5. Dark recollections 6. An evil shade of grey 7. Beyond Sanctorum 8. The Awakening 9. Nocturnal Silence 10. High on blood 11. Fourth Dimension 12. Supreme force of eternity 13. Burning bridges 14. The Burning 15. Hellfuck 16. Khaoohs
uh where's Unorthodox. you're picking a number of clown stuff bro.
@ian.swift.31614 love all EOS, can't chose everything
understood, i just rate unorthodox the highest beyond purgatory afterglow, that one does seem to be the most popular though. @@under-one-flag
@ian.swift.31614 it's difficult when I've been into extreme metal for over 30 years.
Top 10, probably forgot most stuff released;) 1-2. Entombed : Clandestine & Left Hand Path 3 Edge of Sanity : Pugatory Afterglow 4. Hypocrisy : Abducted 5. Dismember : Indecent & Obscene 6. Desultory : Into Eternity 7. Necrophobic : The Third Antichrist 8. Taetre : The Art 9. Carnage - Dark Recollections 10. Grave - You'll Never See..I wanted to include Dissection too, but I was not sure to put them in the death metal or black metal camp
taetre isnt death metal
Not Crimson from Edge of Sanity?
Nahhhh Dissection is definitely Black Metal. I definitely still think it's a respectable list on a top 10 though if it was just either Metal in general or Black Metal, because I know it's their most popular song but The Somberlain is popular for the good reasons, the best reasons even. Genuinely some of the best Melodic Black Metal riffing I've ever heard.
@@SuicidalGrind Dissection had a few songs that could be considered death metal like ''Son Of the Mourning'', And some people consider Reinkaos as melodic death metal, but I think it still sounds way more black metal than dm...
@@lopolik That's what I thought since the first time I heard Reinkaos, if I had to say then some of the riffs on there are more Black n Roll than Death Metal honestly...
Cracking up at the title.
I definitely agree with you on owning the album, best one for me on Swedish death metal(as far as the ones I own) I love the Victory album from Unleashed
Great album. I listened to that fucker for the 900th time last week
DUUUUDE Luciferion - The Apostate.
Yes, Hate Campaign is very underrated. Amazing album.
Saw Unleashed, Entombed and Morbid Angel in Oslo in early 90s. It was called Death Metal Nights I, and the first DM concert in Norway👌 FUN
Hey J Dawg. Curious why the Pale Fuck 7” is $30. Can you talk about the reason behind that? Packaging special. Thanks….
Random fact about Carnage-Dark Recollections. 4 of the songs originally appeared on Dismember demos. 2 other songs were re-recorded by Dismember one on an album, one on an ep.
So you saw Flesher in Indianapolis right?? What are your thoughts J Dawg. They're heavier than Pantera. They're first album is due out on September 15th!!
Morning dawg
🤘🏻🍺 excellent list
Carnage, Dark Recollections was the first death Metal Cd I ever Bought. in early 90's. It was a split with a band called Cadaver. Total Classic Release.

not a single person mentioning Gorement - The Ending Quest.
it's a lot better than some of the stuff that's getting thrown out there...
I second that.
Another 3 bands that need a mention
Sorcery- bloochilling tales
Internal decay- a forgotten dream
Morpheus- son of hypnos
@@blackwintersday Sorcery has a perfect discography, imo.
@@FumesofHatred
Yes they have but for some reason I like there first album the best that's the album I got when it came out in 1991
@@blackwintersdayThat's my favorite, too. Just wanted to bring up how overall awesome they are. Excellent live band, too. \m/
"Into Eternity" is Desultory's best for sure.
Fuck yeah it is. Every song is pretty much awesome
Dude I am almost 50. And I grew up in Australia. We had a killer death metal scene in the 80’s 90’s. And I collected it all. But I will say that it wasn’t until I really moved to the states that I realized I missed so so fucking much. I watch these videos everyday now mostly to figure out how much I missed out on. Lol.
share some of the best kangaroo bands from the 80s and 90s sometime. the only 80s ones i know are that metallica clone Mortal Sin and the inimitable Slaughter Lord.
i'm only familiar with the most well known like slaughter lord, martire, destruktor, astriaal, and all the newer bands who share members with nocturnal graves and d666.
What's your all-time favorite Aussie band? I'd have to go with Hobb's, with Destroyer 666 right behind them.
Bestial warlust short run. Sick art covers
Can I suggest Furbowl-those shredded dreams, for anyone that doesnt know it,check it out,you won't be disappointed
no. very bad nonsense
Great album
Basically pre-Arch Enemy
Deranged "High on blood" is damn good.
Great selection! Deranged III was also my introduction to the band, but I got my copy from Peter who does the band Bloodsoaked. Before Bloodsoaked was a band, it was a distro he ran, and it was one of the ones at that time that opened the door for me getting into more underground death metal. I remember specifically getting Deranged III, Avusled-Stabwound Orgasm, Regurgitation-Tales of Necrophilia, Kabak-Decomposicion Cerebral, and Disgore(Mex)-Chronic Corpora Infest, in the first order I ever placed with him.
Peter put in more work on his own than most multi-member bands in Brutal DM do. Always respected that dude and the homie, Steve Green.
Are you counting Fist Full of Metal in the top 3 Anthrax albums? People always forget FFOM for some reason (Neil Turbin on vocals).
That’s the only Anthrax album I like
??? J-dawg we need a top 10 canoes video! What do you say?
DERANGED/Rated X is Definitely an underrated oldschool BDM masterpiece too!! I still have the original double-disc with sculpture of the dead!! 💀 😎 👍
Seance, Centinex and Sorcery are worth mentioning
Sorcery, yes.
Hi! I was the singer of the first cd you showed there, band was called Authorize. I was a punkrocker at that time so I didnt knew so much about that kind of music then but the times back then was amazing🤘
You lie
Barrett from SEVARED rules!!! Great dude/ friend!! Got some sick stuff from him over the years!!! 💀 😎 👍
Title is killing me 😂
Speaking of Master, Four More Years of Terror is a super underrated record to me.
Death Strike!!
I pledge allegiance to the flag…..
Bought Left Hand Path on tape when it first came out later on CD

@@ian.swift.31614 I think so. She's attractive, but insufferable.
Happy to see Megaslaughter - Calls From the Beyond made the cut.
Entombed should not have made the cut. They should’ve been pushed out by Edge Of Sanity or Europe
@@KaaiHawaiianDeathMetalGive Morbid Devourment another listen, Paulski.

Into the Grave is a classic
I own multiple copies of Like An Everflowing Stream . Great album, but I don't care much about their other material
No Vomitory???? Redemption is definitely in my top 10 favorite death metal records ever.

Exodus Bonded by Blood is a one of a kind great album.
As Swedish as it gets
Thematic=🇸🇪
Seance- fornever laid to rest
First two Entomed killer back to back
The Red in the Sky is Ours wasn’t supposed to be evil, more like a melodic and sombre piece of Progressive Death Metal.
Equilibrium between melancholy & catharsis in elite musical form.
Gardens of Grief sounding 'wimpy' makes no goddamn sense by any relevant criteria for timeless metal.
The Dawg only likes "down with the devil" or "Dead heavy dead evil Death Metal" as he calls it.
@@SuicidalGrind I know. Just clearing the air here.
well it is very thin sounding. needledong style. i'm still surprised they haven't released a remixed version of it considering the band hasconstantly acknowledged that the people in the mixing booth had no idea what they were doing and were rock fans, without any understanding of death metal.
Love the frantic arrangement of the album.
Grave's probably my favorite Swedeath band overall but the 2nd album You'll Never See is the album you want, not Into the Grave. Whatever you do stay away from Soulless, don't know wtf they were thinking with that one. Take it from an old geezer. Glad to see he had Nocturnal Silence on his list otherwise I'd have to say duh Dawg has his head up his butt. And nice call on the Authorize, killer record, I didn't know that one til this video. But jeez what's the deal, a Swedeath list with Unleashed but no Vomitory?!? I'd put Vomitory ahead of Dismember or Entombed on my Swedeath tier list personally, Unleashed can eat a big one.
Don't know if it cracks top 15 but Anata is another killer band to check out.
Preach, The Infernal Depths of Hatred is up there, while their last two are also stellar.
A damn shame that counterpoint-heavy melodic technical death metal hasn't become a more prominent movement since Anata's absence (especially in the face of masturbatory drivel like Necrophagist, Spawn of Possession, The Faceless & Brain Drill being the blueprint for tekdef for way too long).
Awesome band. Been a hot minute since I’ve listened but seriously killer band with killer riffs.
isnt that some lame Cynic type nonsense?
@@ian.swift.31614 No, it's heavier than Cynic. They can be technical but they don't sound wanky.

Cool to see these lists! As for Sweden, anyone listen to that ep called “nothing but the truth” by dispense? Great crusty d beat from Sweden
I hate to be that guy, but because I'm Swedish I get to say that they're more Hardcore Punk than Death Metal, but they just barely would fit in with Death Metal just because they kind of sound like a much more punky NunSlaughter (to me at least)
As for Swedish D-beat worship *Death Metal* that I find really awesome though you can't go wrong with Crawl and their album "Rituals" seen them live twice and their vocalist is definitely NOT an out of the loop guy, loves Mortician and all that good shit, caught him in a longsleeve last time I saw them.
That’s cool I don’t think I have heard them! I thought I would throw in a band I know then one I have no clue about. A lot of the essentials were mentioned from other devils someone mentioned crematory I thought that was cool. Another essential for me would be necrology if we go death metal route!
@@humanbrisket7718 Necrology by General Surgery? If that's the case I think that's another case of the Genre police thing with them being Goregrind, also I've seen them live when they and Nifelheim opened for Dismember in Stockholm 2022.
@@humanbrisket7718 Crematory I'd definitely have to check out to know what they sound like though, but I have a good idea just from the name alone.

Btw arch enemy is on their second female singer J Dawg
Doyle’s gf Alisa White Gluz..
I think some of it is ok personally but I get how the Dawg wouldn’t
That Merciless album is a rager, but definitely thrashy, like early Kreator, but not Left Hand Path straight forward Swedish death.

Bro is low key hilarious 💀
surprised you didnt mention MURDER SQUAD considering it's matti karki from dismember's Autopsy worship band
Autopsy worship band? I mean knowing Dismember already is partially Autopsy worship (words of the band themselves not mine) I definitely have to listen to that.
But also he probably didn't mention that because he doesn't like Autopsy so if it's straight up copying Autopsy's style then yeah I see why the Dawg isn't too hot on it.
give it a try the next time you feel like listening to something new man, you'll probably like it@@SuicidalGrind
