I dont care about music genre when it comes to BTS...BTS doesnt limit to any genre. They opened my mind and my taste in music which is limitless!

Well, let's start by saying that Kpop is a term coined in the West to describe "Korean popular music" and the term in itself doesn't even exist in Korea. It would be more correct to say that Kpop is an industry instead of a genre. And BTS are often described as a genre in itself: they definitely do not classify as typical "Kpop band" because they tend to be experimental and they came from the hip-hop underground (which is something that, as you can see, is part of their own style). Most BTS songs are in Korean mixed with some English, but recently they have released a few songs only in English. I don't know if for Butter they got inspired by Bruno Mars, but BTS got together in 2010 and debuted in 2013 so, as you can see, a little before Bruno Mars blew up ;-) They are kissing their own hand because the youngest in the group, Jungkook, has the name of the fandom, ARMY, tattooed on his hand: they are symbolically kissing ARMY :-) (to whom the song is dedicated). Actually, not only Jin (the one you pointed out) but several members are wearing a skirt. Why? Well, why not? :-) BTS work often with a director called Lumpens that tends to not like CGI, but there are definitely MVs where there's a green screen. For Butter, if I remember correctly, it was mostly practical with a green screen (for example, in the last scene the platform was there 100% but the background should be a green screen). Lastly, with all due respect to Back Street Boys, the comparison with them HURTS. You were fun and positive. Thank you for the reaction :-)

Very good comment. @Send1t they have over 300 songs in just about every genre except country or opera. There's definitely something for everyone. Their foundation is hip hop and these boys are legit. I'm from Detroit and they are most certainly "invited to the cookout"
Enjoyed your reaction. I am a 75 year old woman in Alabama who grew up on rock and roll and real country music and I'm addicted to BTS. I don't like boy bands and hate rap but love these guys. They have fans in every country and every age group. I don't consider them k-pop because they are one of a kind. Just like there could only be one Elvis and one Beatles there can only be one BTS. They helped me get through a depression and have done the same for untold numbers of people. They sing so many different styles of music there is something for everyone. They can be cute and silly or smoking hot sexy. They have overcome so many hardships to get to where they are. The more I learned about them the more I came to love them. They are like family to each other and they never fail to show their love for ARMY. They have remained humble and never forget where they came from. And that is why they have so many devoted fans.

To answer a few of your questions, they are not English, they truly are Korean, though they do have a few English songs. Also, the scene with all the lights pointing up from the floor, not green screen😊 Also they have so many styles of songs, you would be shook. Of the bat i recommend you check out BTS Black Swan mv, and also On Kinetic Manifesto. Just remember to turn on your closed caption as they are mostly in korean language. All in all i really enjoyed your reaction and hope that you will give them more chances to draw you in. It's worth it. A little Information on the 7 members, there are three rappers and 4 vocalists. I wont bother giving you names right now😅. Hope you check out more💜

To be more clear, Kpop is not a genre is a whole Industry ( the popular culture of south korea) BTS came from from kpop but they remain very different ( talking about how the Industry works) these guys discribe as a hip hop/R&B/pop group but they cover and mix A LOT of musical genres that is insane, I mean it's not crazy to make the statement: "BTS is the actual genre" because is really difficult to categorize their musical identity

Kpop is not a genre like everyone thinks. Kpop is an industry. It's Korean pop (popular) music. So that means any genre is represented by it, just like in America. If you want to give BTS another try, try Black Swan or On: Kinetic Manifesto. Remember to turn on closed captions as BTS only has three songs in English!

BTS is the biggest group in the world. Yes they are at forefront of Kpop but they are way past that. They have over 250 songs in their discography that varies from hiphop, pop, edm, ballads, rock, etc.
BTS wear corsets, skirts, makeup, jewelry...they have cross dressed and so on. They are NOT quiet on what they think fashion should be...here's a couple of their quotes:

They are careful with they're lyrics and you won't find any girls shakin their booties anywhere near them. BTS and ANYTHING misogynisticis are a no go... They are careful about that in their lyrics after the US hit them with it for one of their early songs they don't perform here anymore. Which is ridiculous...(also one of my favs...)

Bighit is financially very strong company so most of the mvs, including that set at last wasn't green screen. They literally create a whole set for a small scene in mvs. You can even check the "behind the scenes" of mv to see that it wasn't green screen. The efforts they put into every single small thing is what make them huge. 💜
better than any other previous boy band... you haven't seen them fully dance, rap hard, and sing at the same time. No lip singing for these guys when they perform live and they are fit.
The giant connect 4 stage at the end was not a green screen. They literally danced on top of a giant plexiglass stage with yellow holes underneath. There’s a behind-the-scenes video of the music video shoot and they were joking about whether or not the stage was safe because it was kind of wobbly. BTS rarely uses green screens and CGI, preferring to use real sets whenever possible.
BTS only used cgi in Dna , Idol but still less compared to other artists

Alright. So BTS stands for bangtan sonyeondan which in English means bulletproof boyscouts. The group is made of 3 rappers and 4 vocalists and all members have participated in writing and producing and composing their music. BTS' company big hit entertainment has an underdog story. They were a small company in Korea and were not very popular in the media sector so they promoted their music thru UA-cam and that's how they gained their international audience. But that's not the only reason they became well loved and popular. Their message they give out to fans has always been to love yourself, accept who you are flaws and all and its OK to fail and have bad days. They also have cameras on them almost 24/7 so their fans have a Truly deeper connection with the guys and they are very transparent about who they are. They went thru many hardships along their journey and because of this they consider each other family.
I would not compare them to backstreet boy- more appropriate to say like Michael Jackson
Also the fan base is not all teeenage girls. Their reach goes far beyond that to people that are 20+ men and women.

You're personality is awesome! Hope you continue to check more BTS out. This is just a fun pop track they released during the pandemic to cheer people up. Their Korean discography is top tier, their lyrics are amazing! Not sure what genre of music you normally listen to but, whatever it is you prefer, I guarantee there is BTS songs to suit it. Not sure if you're into rap, but if you are I highly recommend checking out Outro Tear, live from wembley if you can. There should be versions on UA-cam with English subs. One of my favourite songs from them. The lyrics are really deep and one of the members, Suga, wrote it during the time when the group were considering disbanding due to the pressure of getting so big, so it is a song written for the group, they cried when he played it for them. You will find BTS describes themselves as genre fluid (pop, rock, r&b, hip hop, rap, edm, disco, funk) creating music that provides both an auditory and visual experience. Their group is 8 years old and actually started as a full on hip hop group. They write and produce much of their own music.
You really can't compare BTS to other kpop groups.

As for the song being in english-they have literally had to make some english songs because US radio stations are really not into playing their foreign language songs

BTS has many layers to them. They go very deep with the art they create. Their English songs are definitely bops to help brighten our days during this global health crisis. I just found your channel and really like your personality you seem like so much fun! There's a lot to explore with BTS, they do songs in Korean primarily but also have tracks in Japanese and 3 other English singles! They also bend and play with all genres from throwback and modern hip-hop to pop to even rock and neo-soul! I hope you try more songs since they're such a diverse group! The members of BTS (all seven) are also highly involved in all of their music so all songs show their creativity and musical genius!

The kiss of the hand always struck me as being a specific nod towards ARMY. Usually the camera focuses on Jungkook at that part, and he actually has the fandom name tattooed onto his hand (incidentally, it's also written out in a way that represents all of his group members as well) in that exact spot. So it's sort of like giving a kiss to ARMY, but also something that mostly only ARMY would notice/know about.
BTS is a genre unto itself. They have recorded just about every style of music. This is one of their few English songs. They mostly sing in Korean, but also have a lot of Japanese tracks.
Kpop is an industry including fashion/cosmetics. BTS is way beyond being labelled that. Others already probably commented but BTS is their own genre because they a have a whole lot of variety to their songs. I have been into boy bands since early in my teens but there is no one compared to these guys, from their music, to their dancing to their personality and love for their fans. They are always greatful and the connection they have with ARMY is what sets them apart way beyond any other group past and present.
With BTS you never really know what you're gonna get when you click on that play button. They tend to switch genres alot. Butter is one of their "poppiest" songs. Oh and you're definitely not stupid lol they usually sing in Korean this is one of their only 3 songs in english
BTS records in Korean, Japanese, and English. Their Korean songs are often really deep and fierce, and are in all kinds of different genres. Their Japanese songs tend to be softer and sweeter (and not really my taste, but still good!). So far, their English songs are big, dumb, fun summer bops because they're designed to appeal to the big, dumb, fun American pop music market... sigh. To be fair, BTS doesn’t typically write their non-Korean songs. I feel like if they get more comfortable writing songs in other languages than we’ll start to see what we already see in their Korean ones.
I wouldn't call it dumb most of these songs are dedicated to ARMYS all around the world and just because they don't do always deep songs is a bad thing don't know why people are so annoyed at these songs

Kpop is not a stile, but a musical industry from korea. BTS has music in many styles! They're 3 rappers and 4 vocals/singers. They have a lot of great songs in three idioms (korean, japanese and more recently english also).
I recommend "Room Live Festa 2021", it's a mash up with a part of many musics from different styles and different moment of their carrer.

Bts has always had English mixed into their Korean lyrics but since they world wide they have a couple of songs that are full English.. I love Bts and every song they have but I honestly love their Korean songs better than their English songs. Their Korean songs have meaning behind the lyrics, and if you dive into them more with an open mind you will see what I mean =)

LOL JHope ( the butter eater 😂 ) spat it out quickly after that take. BTS does a bit of everything. They started as a hip-hop group initially but realized they wanted to explore more music styles, to put it simply. As an older person my tastes run to metal etc.( black sabbath -og sabbath. CCR, Zep etc. ) but I appreciate talent, hard work ethics which BTS has in droves. They have def earned the recognition they've recieved.

The kissing on the back of their hand is because one of the members jungkook has the tattoo of the fandom's logo ARMY (FYI ARMY stands for adorable representative M.C for youth ) on the back of his hand. They basically used that in the dance to show their love and affection to their fandom

BTS definitely uses green screens, it's just that a lot of the things you THINK would be green screen are not. The only gs in Butter is the open door behind them in the gym. The MV for "Fake Love" has a TON of incredible shots that are practical that everyone assumes are gs... like a floor falling out.

BTS is a genre beyond, try other songs, they have huge variety of sounds,

First I would like to say welcome to the world of BTS. Please keep an open mind about these wonderful young men. But to answer your question. No, they do not only sing in English. However, they have a lot of songs that has English mixed into their Korean songs. I'm sure ARMY will drop you a few songs to check out. I'm 3 years in and 47.5 years old and LOVE them. Their music is, for the most part in korean. Kpop is just music in korean really. It is more of an industry than a genre because not all of the music is pop music. But, they released "Butter", "Dynamite", and "Permission to Dance" in full English as healing music for international fans during the pandemic. They did not really plan on making any english music. But they felt disconnected from international fans and decided to make these songs and they really helped lift everyones spirits. Just like fun english songs for everyone to dance and be happy too. So other than the pandemic music, their music will mostly be korean. Actually a lot of their songs will be mixed with korean and some english thrown in. It is really cool!
I understand why your first reaction to BTS is BUTTER. It's the song of the year! And it's a great song. BTS released it to cheer us up on pandemic times. But if you think this is it you got it all wrong and if you stop listening to BTS now and don't give them another try you will be missing so much. There are so many songs covering so many genres that I'm pretty sure you will be surprised. On Kinetic Manifesto, Black Swan, Blood sweat and tears, Outro tear, Film out, House of cards, Whalien 52, 132340, Mic Drop, Airplane pt. 2, Pied Piper, Wings Paradise, Your eyes tell, Mycrokosmos, Ugh, DDAENG, The Cyphers, so much content!!! I could be here all day.
And if you don't want to give it a try it's ok but don't judge a book by its cover.

When BTS was formed, it was all by luck and chance that it would work out. They came from a very small industry that was about to go bankrupt, yet BTS's magic was the key to everything. They grew a bond and became true Brothers, and if you go down the BTS Rabbit Hole, you will see how much they care for each other, and their fandom, ARMY. They are not like any other artist I have seen (and I grew up on BSB). The love they have for their fans is crazy and ARMY is crazy for our boys.
I honestly believe they have a song for EVERYONE within the huge range they have made over the 10 years they have been together (8 years performing, 2 training).
The names:
Kim NamJoon (RM) He is the group leader, and Rapper.
Kim SeokJin (Jin) The oldest, he is a vocalist and Visual of the group.
Min Yoongi (Suga) he is the second oldest, and is a rapper.
Jung Hoseok (J-Hope) He is the Dance Leader, Rapper, and Sub-Vocals. (the man you said was "Getting it" during the solo dance break)
Park Jimin (Jimin) He is part of the dance line, and Vocalist.
Kim Taehyung (V) He is in the dance line (became a part of it in 2018), Vocalist and Visual.
Jeon JungKook (JungKook, JK) He is the youngest member, main Vocalist, Dancer, Center and Sub-Rapper. (Not sure if he is a visual or not, but truthfully, all 7 of them are stunning enough to be)
Everyone of them have credits in producing, and writing music for the group. (They are VERY hands on when it comes to the music they release)
There is so much deep meaning in their music, from issues like Depression, to helping people love themselves more.
Enjoy the ride, if you choose the start learning about them, it's really fun, and they are funny AF.

Not all BTS songs are in English they have a few English hits such as Dynamite, Butter, and Permission To Dance. But most their music is in their native language of Korean, but their lyrics in their Korean music more often than not have deep meaning. They often talk about self love, equality and fighting injustices. They also talk a lot about mental health.
Haha yeah that was me, I talked about how kpop like to use practical effects. There are exceptions at times of course, but for the most part, sets and props and explosions or anything like that are real. I think I said it on a blackpink video you did, right?
If you get to check out
more of their discography you will realize that they are super different from BSB. They have a rapline and their dance choreos are harder than what BSB had. They are not typical boyband. Happy that BTS is truly breaking barriers and esp breaking thru the preconceptions of what kpop is.

As Army fan for over 4 years.. they just started singing in English.. Dynamite is the first .. butter and permission to dance are also English.. but they mostly sing in Korean and Japanese too
They do use green screen, but at a bare minimum. The big yellow and black with big holes stage is actually real. There is a "making of" video that shows them waiting for it to be finished so they can film.
They are Korean, and they have been working hard on learning english. Their leader RM has spoke english for quite a few years, he taught him self by watching "Friends". They have 3 all english songs the rest of their music is Korean with a mix of english.
The BTS discography has many different genres, you really can't pigeon hole them as "kpop" anymore. If you give them a chance they will surprise you.
