EW&F - one of the best bands EVER! Great live in concert, too. They have lots of other great songs to explore, most upbeat and danceable like this one. Plus some beautiful, beautiful sad ballads.
This is one of Phil Collins’ all time favorite groups. He spent a lot of time backstage at their concerts and did a collaboration with the man with the falsetto, Philip Bailey. The song is called Easy Lover that you will love I think.
Btw, ad- libbing is inherently a part of R&b/Soul music which is why Michael does it also although he became more of a pop artist later in his career.
As a gen X’er, I’ve heard this song sooo many times. Every wedding I’ve ever been to and countless parties have played this. It’s a great get up and boogie song!

It’s not disco it’s classic Soul Music
This group had a lot of hits man. But IMO their masterpiece was "Fantasy", although "Let's Groove", "After The Love Is Gone", "That's The Way Of The World", "Shining Star", "Reasons", "Sing A Song", "Sun Goddess", and "Boogie Wonderland" are also favorites of mine.

FACTS:
September is a previously unreleased song on their Greatest Hits album (1978) that would go on to become their greatest hit. LOL
Also known as the greatest filler song all the times (I gotta disagree).
This song is a re-working of sorts of the song "Whole Lot of Shakin", which Maurice White and Al McKay wrote for The Emotions (another american soul/R&B group).

Maurice White was the main force behind EWF, but the legendary Philip Bailey had that fantastic falsetto voice. My next choice would have been “Fantasy,” where Bailey got to sing lead on the whole song, and also would love to see you react a concert of EWF.

During the 70’s thousands of people went to witness their incredible shows, including celebrities, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀.
Verdine and Ralph (EWF's members) remember in a documentary how 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 went to see their shows very often, being surprised by the magic tricks and other things, causing a young 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹, still in the process of developing as a star, to analyze everything that appeared on stage and would implement in shows in the future. Some clear examples are the 1981 Triumph Tour, 1984 Victory Tour and 1987 Bad Tour as a solo artist. ✨
At a black wedding, this song is as mandatory as the vows (if older folks have access to the DJ 😆).
