Just wanted to say a decade later this trick worked, and fixed my ka sensors for me. Just saved me a ton of headache and another 100 bucks. Can't say thanks enough
Worked perfectly on a 2019 Hori Switch tatakon. I had exactly the same problem, non-responsive left rim. Those rubber tags are a pita to pull out and back in!
second time this video help me, so, for the record I have a Hori Taiko for switch and ka didn't respond, so it was stuck as they say, you can test this with a software or with the test on the switch, after you open test every sensor one by one, they all respond as one input but if it stuck only one black bar will respond, probably the faulty one, open and clean AND remove any particle, this includes some parts of the black sensor itself, as it shatters into tiny pieces because of the use, if you clean with isopropyl alcohol you are done, enjoy using your Taiko :)
A taiko drum is composed of a central sensor for the red musical notes, and sensors on the edge for the blue musical notes. It should be known that even when the drum is new, the sensors on the edge are much less sensitive than those of the center. It cleans the sensors at the edge of the drum with alcohol to burn.
I just wanted to say thanks so much for posting this video! I found a Taiko Drum Master PS2 bundle for sale at a local thrift store and everything worked except the controller; I lost hope thinking I wouldn't be able to fix it or find another cheap controller, and then I found your video, which inspired me to take mine apart and swab it down with some rubbing alcohol. It works like brand new! Thanks for the tip and for saving me some money/trouble!
@@heheing dollroom.sakura.ne.jp/doll929/doll929.html don’t mind the creepy doll in the images lmfao also do this at your own discretion as my drum has actually started to fail recently due to complications related to modding it.
Do you know how the DON works? I guessed it was a piezoelectrical sensor but then I remember that the DON has 2 sides for the big notes, so I'm clueless about how it works XD
i wish it had piezo sensors there are small circular pressure sensors riddled accross the whole don area. the small nubs on the drum face press against the don sensors to trigger them

I dont want to be that guy.... but could you kinda explain what you did?
He opens and cleans his drum. The sensors on the edge of the drum respond badly, so he opens the drum to clean with alcohol.
just bought a new one for nintendo switch, this same tutorial fix a blue right non responsive , thanks a lot man

Bro I now it's been 10 years. I got one bundle but it's another game but same controller. I AM CURRENTLY FIXING MINE LOL
Thank you so much cause I bought the drum for the switch game and it stopped working. Hopefully this will fix it for me! ❤
@taikoguide It's a strong alcohol
And yeah, if you don't wanna take any risk to damage your tatacon, take a swab
The switch works this way too?
yep, works the same way
Any advise on the center? I'm about to try this on my 4 wii drums
my tatacon is responsive but the zone for the blue hitpoints is very small and not easy to hit.
I don't get it: what was the problem?
his sensors on the edge of the drum were not responding well, so he opens the drum to clean with alcohol.
Why is rubbing alcohol packaged in drinking water bottles over there?
Thank you so much!
@flavio24h You're welcome ^^
If you have some questions, go ahead ! :3
What kind of alcohol is that?
alcohol to burn
Can you increase the drum sensitivity on the games?
yes but this involves switching out the stock foam with cork and filling parts of the interior of the drum with rubber
@@JKelly756 is there a tutorial on how to do that?

@taikoguide I think the taiko PS2 has the same kind of sensors, but I'm not sure ^^
MrRoganis whoa im replying to an old comment
