Haha, yeah, let's not talk about my backlog... On a different note though, I completely get where you're coming from. I really enjoy making the Humble reviews partially for others but also partially because it gets me to try every game in the bundle, which I definitely wasn't doing before. I suppose in a way it makes it a bit more worth it, but I definitely get adding more games that just sit in a digital library. I'm really looking forward to your new content though! I thought you came up with some good videos in the past. Honestly, I would love to create other content as well but time is such a constraining factor. Game reviews were fun and maybe I'll get back to that some day but it will be Humble and the occasional devlog for now.
Yeah, I really enjoyed making the reviews for the community, as well as trying all the different games. Something inside me though is internally irked when I play a few hours of each game, then never go back. Or if I do go back, I need to re-play through the parts of the game I've already played... bit of a nitpick I'll admit, but becomes increasingly annoying when it happens even with games outside of Humble Choice bundles. And thanks so much man! I basically started this channel for game reviews, so I could see myself shifting to more individual game reviews rather than whole bundles, but we'll see! Looking forward to your next devlog :)
Yeah, technically mine is still paused as well, the option is always nice to unpause/redeem, however this is the first time I've paused/skipped in many months, and the first time I don't intend on unpausing :O
There have been plenty of times I've gotten the bundle for the "non-main" games when the main game had no interest to me. One man's trash and all that.
I randomly stumbled across this video but I myself stopped getting humble choice for very similar reasons. A combination of my rampant uncontrollable backlog of games never getting played and a decline in the quality of games being offered each month. On top of that I noticed that a lot of the games offered each month were games I already owned or games that were or will be given out free on other platforms at some point (like Encased in this month's choice was free 2 weeks ago on epic).
Yep, definitely the 2 primary reasons I cancelled mine as well..... and yeah that's a great point! Not so much recently, but a few of the bundles of 2022 had headliners that had been offered free within the past 2 months.. and most weren't even on Steam (not a huge problem, but annoying when 90% of Humble games Steam keys) Thanks for randomly stumbling and leaving a comment! :D
Btw after watching "A Misguided Guide To Finishing Your Gaming Backlog" by Daryl Talks Games and "SMASH through your game backlog using THIS method!" by Starved for Time (TSBM) I started playing my backlog with the help of playnite and I gotta say I finished Samorost 3 yesterday (this game
That's awesome I'm glad to hear it! I'll give those both a watch, I recently watched a different one which talked about how you don't need to see a game to the ending to have "completed" the game, you can be done whenever you decide, whether that means 100% the game, or even quitting early if it becomes unenjoyable. I haven't really done this yet, but have also thought about other topics from those videos, like how it may be a good idea to only play 1-2 games at once, instead of 5+. as it's hard to keep track of all those storylines! And that's another thing about the backlog! Many of the games on it you may not enjoy and probably won't, but since you haven't played them yet, and that's okay! Never should feel pressured or stressed to play a particular game, as there will literally always be more for you to try :D Best of luck with the backlog my friend! o7
@@NardView I think I saw the same video yeah !!! Yeah especially if you plan on finishing them, it can be hard having so many stories at once haha I agree ! Playnite can sort and filter to help 'cause I literally have thousands of games I might as well only the positive reviews ones ! Maybe if I had 50 I wouldn't care but 1000+ you gotta try only the good ones 'cause there's not enough time for them all ! So far so good, trying the good games from my backlog journey and sometimes sharing my screen with a friend (I like people watching me play and discovering things as I do) as been a blast 🥰🥰
OMG you could play a different game everyday for the next few years.... if you ever get tired of GOG Galaxy, I made a video a few months back about Playnite, which is extremely similar, with a few nice changes :)
@@NardView I was using playnite for a while but I had a large collection of games that had no meta data thru playnite and it was irritating just going and updating those one by one. GOG Galaxy has the same issues but it was just a 10% of the playnite issue. I share the same feeling of having multiple untouched games. Only reason I kept buying is because of the excitement when the payment goes through. I haven't explored Humble Bundle that much, but I know I won't be able to maximize their subscription plan. I already struggle to maximize Game Pass because I only play one game at a time.
Exactly, it's a good feeling to have more games in your library, but people like me have a hard time knowingly adding games that I don't really want, when I have literally hundreds waiting to play o.o and that is also the exact reason why I don't have Game Pass, I cannot justify paying another monthly charge for games I won't be able to play enough of D:
@@NardView I love and hate Game Pass for the massive selection of games. I just use it once to check which games are interesting then I can decide on which one to get for Steam. Other than that, it's pretty useless :∆

If I have several games from humble choice that I still haven't redeemed (because I haven't yet decided which ones I wanna keep for myself and which ones to gift to friends), do I still get access to them after cancelling my subscription, or should I redeem them first?
That's a great question, since you lose your Humble Store discount, which increases the longer you are subscribed. Bad logic. When you decide to try a new game, if you missed an entire year of more of humble bundle you will have LESS choices to pick from when you play a new game. Overall you'll still have less, no matter how you try to rationalize it. You're just paying to have more options to pick from when you do play. Each month of choice costs less than 1 game. So if you pick 1 $50 AAA game to play out of 3 months of choice, you still got a fair deal. And if your time is worth, lets say $20/hr, you can further break down the value you get by dividing the cost of the game against your hourly rate. So 1 AAA title needs to be played for only around 3 hours for you to get your hourly ratee's worth out of it. This is great for those who like to try new games and not commit to each one they play. And also, for some people collecting games is fun by itself, even if they don't play them all that much.
