@HefHeresy so true, i rarely anyone mention it, but i remember getting into these dungeons/tombs with living corpses, fighting the dagoth family, etc. That was pretty suspense heavy at the time😅
It's supposed to be dark: that's what the Night Eye spell and torches are for. It's supposed to be immersive: night time should be difficult to navigate and spooky. You can also just pass time until the day. There's a lot of ways to deal with it.
I think it will be once it allows full support of MWSE mods. It’s heading in the right direction for now though. There are some absolutely amazing mods on the old engine that unfortunately aren’t useable on OpenMW until then
@@SilentSerpant18It never will, people will have to rebuild those mods for OpenMw because its a totally different engine. They are completely incompatible and never will be. Open Mw will always be more stable, because its a brand new engine custom built for Morrowind, but mwse will obviously always have come first, and has decades more content. It’s just the way it is.
The most important thing is to load godrays and most other effects after volumetric fog so it looks realistic. But if I remember correctly you gotta put ambient occlusion before it, or else dense models will look too dark.
I'm curious, have you done anything special to make it look so smooth? As in no weird stuttering when moving the camera around. Or is it just cos you have a high powered setup?
I have a very good setup but there are still some mods that caused stuttering. If I find one that causes it I just remove it. So, yeah I suppose it's mostly due to my setup. If you're having stuttering issues just remember that it's likely caused by meshes, rather than lighting.
I'm really impressed by what people can achieve with Morrowind's graphics. It's fascinating to see how they can transform the game's visuals with mods. The problem is that you guys don't provide download files for their mods packs. This makes it difficult for players to experience the amazing graphics that they show. Every time I decide to play Morrowind, I end up playing the original version because I can't find a mod pack for graphics that has a download file.
guys I played this game as a kid, never beat it, want to gve it a go now. Is it recommended to play morrowind open mw vanilla or add some mods?? I want to play original game as much as possible
Vanilla openmw is great without mods, but there are a lot of vanilla friendly graphics enhancements like Enhanced textures and the openmw shaders that would probably be worth your time. You might also want to check out some quality of life mods like graphic herbalism and better dialogue font.
@@heynow5263 Definitely get the graphic herbalism mod, I too played as a kid but the original Morrowind treats wild alchemy stuff like chests and that was always weird. There are some vanilla friendly mod collections floating around on nexus you should look at.

So, the HOA in Balmoral is really lax and never enforces its "mow your own pavements" policy. I love the fact that we have things like Daggerfall Unity and OpenMW. I don't really understand the whole "let's put grass everywhere" aesthetic, but I'll accept it for all the other cool stuff. Just wish it wasn't so hard to see things sometimes.
Not quite. Most of the graphics mods like the shaders and enhanced textures will drop fps to unplayable rates, and many mods that edit the UI don't work because it's different than PC. However, almost all other mods will work. Better Sounds, MCAR, Graphic Herbalism, Familiar Faces, Containers animated, Vurt's armor and weapon retexture, tree replacers, and similar mods work fabulously. I hope this helps and I strongly suggest you give it a try.
Not that I know of. It is very tedious but it's also fun in my opinion, that's why I do it. I'm not sure if mod packs work for Morrowind but if they do I might look into that.
@@Journeyman107 Its tedious, but with Nexus Mods and Open Morrowind it isnt too much work, if you have the paid version of Nexus its really fast and easy, espeically if you just want a mod collection. I just went on there today and started a new playthrough with 200 or so mods.
I don't like the camera angle. Just because ESO did it doesn't mean its a good idea, I hope there's at least a toggle to have a normal 3rd person view where the camera is directly behind and above the player model instead of at a weird angle like that.
it irks me when graphical update mods add foliage to areas that are clearly meant to be walkable, for example the entrance to the Census and Excise office. that part is walked through by people and guards in heavy metal boots all the time ,there should be no shrubs and ferns growing in the way
The problem is that the grass is procedurally generated so it will never be perfect. Personally I prefer having some grass in strange places than no grass at all.
The game looks great. But the harshness between light and shade is too much. It's too dark in the shade and light looks overly orange.
I've found that Morrowind has this problem a lot when recording. You're right it is too dark in places but it's less severe in the actual game.
@HefHeresy so true, i rarely anyone mention it, but i remember getting into these dungeons/tombs with living corpses, fighting the dagoth family, etc. That was pretty suspense heavy at the time😅
@HefHeresy Yep, pretty odd that you like it. Better keep it out.

I think it will be once it allows full support of MWSE mods. It’s heading in the right direction for now though. There are some absolutely amazing mods on the old engine that unfortunately aren’t useable on OpenMW until then
I know! Honestly, the more mod-able the better. Still always in awe of Tamriel Rebuilt and the multiplayer mod!
it will be when openmw is feature completed 1.0 release. With full graphical mods like graphics extender

too dark. hard to see anything.
The dynamic range is amazing!
I wish someone would make a replacer for all the armors. I can get the terrain and scenery looking PERFECT but the armor still looks so low resolution

Darknuts textures as well I believe?

Looks beautiful, but the filter ruins it, by being too dark, contrasted and gloomy..Turn off SSAO for a frame boost and cleaner look..
