I bought one 2005 E500 V8 with 126000 mile 5 yrs ago. I paid $4000 for it but last owner just spent $3000 in dealer service . I DIY changed the new air struts , fuel injectors, spark plugs and fuel pumps , transmission fluid with filter gasket service and 4 new tires. It total cost me about $9000. Pretty stoked to find a video like this. I had an 05 E320 in Miami back in 2016 I bought for about $6k at the time. It had about 100k miles on it when I bought it and me being 23 at the time was just amazed by how well the 11 year old car looked and drove. I had it for about 2 years and spent about $4k on various repair costs such as: Repairing leaky valve cover gaskets Replacing a leaky radiator Replacing the AC unit Replacing the wiper motor Replacing control arms Replacing spark plugs and some belts Replacing rear brake discs and pads Straight piped it (removed cats) 4 new tires 2 services I was into this car for about $10k but sold in 2018 with 140k miles on it for about $4k. Although it was money lost, it taught me a lot about older Mercedes cars and well built they are how comfortably they ride on the highway. It has changed my driving style too. I have now switched over to another E Class a W213 E300. Although the 300’s 2.0 engine is more powerful than the 320, I miss the linear torque and smoothness of the V6. The new car is better than the 320 in many ways but the 211 320 had that something special to it. Everytime I see one in good shape go by, I stare at it.
Don't know how this video got suggested, but glad i chose to view it! Enjoyed the laughs this parody provided! You nailing the Doug Demuro squat next to the car, in shorts, had me dying laughing!!!
Very pleasurable to drive a bit under powered for it's weight but quite comfortable on long trips though . My favorite thing about the Merc brand is their features ,.
lol e320 underpowered ? i have the same model w211 but with a 220 engine 4 cylinders and it drives like a fucking beast. Everytime i go for long trips in highways i make sure to pull the max from her like 220 km. E320 is better i know but in my country fuel is very expensive and car prices here are like: 4 cylinders very expensive and are very trusted, v6 average price but cost more to maintain,V8's are cheap as hell cause they consume more and they are very very expensive to maintain...take example a bmw 7 series v8 have timing change and vanos issues, head gaskets etc. You can find this w211 e500 cheap as hell here where i am. V12 are cheaper than V6 but more expensive than v8 cause they are more rare. They are fucked up worse than V8's, with oil leaks, fuel consumptiom, high cost of mainteance...take an example of Merc W220 S600. Here you can find a s500 for like 2000$ decent condition and a S600 for like 3500$.
W210 had four headlights, 2006-2007 E350 had bad balance shafts and transmission issues. Most of these cars had MB text a leather like material. Only the avanguard versions had real leather. No Bluetooth until 2007
I know a man who purchased a new 2022 Mercedes last year. It has 16,000 miles on it, and my scan tool shows 26 fault codes already. It drives and handles fine, but that's for now.....[jaws music]
I'm still driving a W211 2005 E350 AvantGarde. The car has 109,000 km (~70,000 miles) and remains a great pleasure to drive. Nearly 20 years post-release it is more than competitive with the many horrible goods produced now. The W211 was not only "advanced for its time" as the first drive by wire vehicle, it remains advanced in 2024. This is especially true now, when MB no longer fits classic, proven, under stressed, sophisticated, high capacity V6 or V8 engines to any models at all :-(( Now, top of the line Benz cars use twin-turbo, over stressed little 2.0 litre engines, rather than the E350's superior quad cam, quad valve 3.5 litre V6 producing just under 300 bhp. It rarely needs 2000 rpm but happily revs out to 6,700 rpm, if you're blunt. It has the world's first 9-speed auto box (7 forward, 2 reverse), 10 airbags, 10 speakers and COMAND still does everything well, all without a touchscreen. It does much more than any 2024 consumer product and always with greater safety. Tip: The 2-zone climate control is completely set and forget if Auto mode is selected.
I guess I never realized these were also European. I recently was rear-ended pretty badly in my Audi. I just got reimbursed for it and I’m looking to probably purchase another European car. I was in another wreck which was my own fault when I was about 19 or 20- it was in a VW. I flipped my car 5 1/2 times on my way to work super early. I know the only reason I’m alive today from either of those wrecks (the recent one, I had been parked on the side of the road with a flat tire, and barreled into by a sleeping driver ) are bc of the safety features in those European vehicles. But the Audi is 4 cylinder. .. granted, it’s fast, but as someone who used to own a 3.2 L Mitsubishi 3000 GT (special edition) 5 speed, I am very impressed with the 6 cylinders on this car! I’m going Wednesday to start shopping around, and I’m definitely going to keep this one in mind !
