This is a 2005 Mercedes E320 CDI add a CDI means common rail direct injection and they put a diesel 6 cylinder engine not the V6 engine it's a pretty cool car the diesel beast the diesel powered e-class you know and obviously CDI means common rail direct injection like having a new 2005 CDI 2005 E320 CDI so anyway let's get started with the car and has parking sensors on the car called parktronic thank you parktronic pop the hood of this car to see what engine does this guy have so here she is let's see what she's got under the hood so Mercedes-Benz went to a diesel V6 engine to a diesel 6 cylinder under the hood is the 3.2 l turbo diesel inline 6 which is called the om648 and this engine is better than a V6 or a V8 which is better from the 2005 model year to 2006 and when you started these warning lights pop up you know that stupid version of OnStar in this car it has tell aid at 8:35 definitely sounded like did the OM 648 turbo diesel inline 6 cylinder that it sounds like
Mine is a 2006. Mileage? I set my cruise control to 80 MPH and I get between 39.8 to 42 miles per GALLON. Of course, if I set it at 55 or 60 MPH it goes even higher. LOVE IT.

The W211 with the inline6 diesel is probably one of the best cars MB ever built. I have this car and guess what..... I'm never gonna sell it. Unfortunately, E Classes built after the W211 have been built and to the specification of accountants' rather than engineers. Love your posts.
@@atos.nympha3451 Yes it is on the new W223 S Class (2022 S Class) but it was also on the facelift W222 S Class from 2019. The W213 E Class also has it in the E400d. The new GLE and GLS also has them in both petrol and diesel. Both are 3 litre inline 6 petrol and diesel.

It's something about Mercedes and the doors closing so perfectly. I have a W211 E200 Kompressor and a Renault Laguna, and closing the doors on a Renault feels like slamming a glass plate into a wall.
Mercedes doors are heavier and has more materials that's why it closes just perfect, had e270cdi 2005 and now have e46 328i. The e46 doors is very cheap made and very light thats why it closes like it's gonna fall apart

Bought my mates ex company car 2007 e220cdi wagon with 164,000 miles on the clock for 1300 quid , used it for my business and sold it when I retired after 3 years with 204,000 on the clock for 1500 quid , WHAT A CAR TOOK ALL THE ABUSE I THREW AT IT . FANTASTIC
It wasn't too early for blue tooth. My stock 2005 E320 CDI has blue tooth that works fine with my new cell phone. Also the factory sound system plays mp3 dvds which is great. I can fit over 40 albums on 1 dvd disk.
@@XGenBoomer, just make sure the car has the lastest software update for the head unit/ cd player. I had to update my car to be able to play the mp3's. You should be able to play mp3 cds in the cd player and mp3 dvds in the head unit.

I have the very same car, same year, same colour, same engine, 700k miles on mine, no issues. SBC had to be swapped because that isn't covered under warranty in the uk like it is in the USA. Mine also has an official Brabus D6 tuning kit which is joke funny when you put your foot down. Brilliant cars, brilliant engine and as Bill says, inline 6 is the way on Mercs. This one has a great spec, HK audio, both electric seats and the sliding cupholder. Mine has the same but no sliding cupholder and mine has the sports suspension which is harsh at times.
@@Hymerati nice, normal day use for 280/300km daily i need to swap my old beatten opel vectra 2.2 dti couting 708k km today runs ok but its old school and it will need injectors and a tlc on fuel pump aswell , original block and head , new turbo at 375k km and 2 complete clutch , liqui moly 5w40 every 7.500km ,filters and work a lot . Love the w211 320 cdi L6 . Next choice very soon im looking too mutch time now , time to act .

Correct me if I'm wrong but that is a 5 cylinder, basically they called it the 320cdi for marketing reasons in the states before the V6 real 320CDI arrived a few years later. In Europe it was called the 270CDI
The pre 2006 320cdi featured an inline 6 diesel engine, being upgraded to a v6 diesel engine afterwards. The 270cdi is a different model featuring an inline 5 cylinder diesel engine which got discontinued after 2005 due to emissions.
I have one, 58k miles on it so will probably outlive me! Can be a bit thirsty round town 25 mpg (US gallons), they're true mile munchers and only really at home on motorways (or interstate's)
in my opinion the CLS as a coupe has a better styling , more features but also shares the same engine and platform ... I would rather get the CLS but both are the same mechanically.
Where I live you can pick these up for less than a grand. They really are the benchmark for cars. C class is generally the car your work gives you and S is what the boss gets driven about in. The E is the sweeetspot. If you spent more than a grand on your bucket is it beter than this?
There’s a large selection of these in Europe,you can probably pick up a clean one like this one for 4-5 k€ with 200.000 on the odo.just don’t get the bluetec V6…stick to the inline cdi
2019 .....I have a 2003 W211 Dark Blue E320 merc , no intensions of upgrading because ive always love the classic look front and back of these cars. I have sunroof and beautiful wide tread low profile tyres. Drives like a dream not diesel however i dont care.
I have the same model, same color, but Wagon. It's a great car, very fuel efficient, spacious and fast. But you get this "black death" which ruin everything good about this car. You need to change the rings and sealing, and clean the diesel injectors every 10 or 15k. Or else the diesel will come out everywhere.

The intro section of this video should be mentioning at the end of each sentence "AT LEAST IN THE US" - this model is not some "returnal" of Mercedes to diesel passenger cars, nor has it anything to do with a boat engine, nor did it come out in 2006 - Mercedes has been selling E, C and most other classes (even S) with diesel engines for decades, and this model (the W211) came out in 2003, in 2006 it had a face (or engine)-lift where specifically the 320 guise transitioned from I6 to V6... I've watched three minutes of the video, the guy talks like he was a pro, but has very assuredly said at least 3 factual bullshits - or if not BS, than at least wrong for everywhere else, MAYBE except US (I've no knowledge about Merc model availabilities and yearly ranges in US) - as all carmakers, Merc DESIGNS cars primarily for their own market, in this case - Germany and by extension EU.
you don't have any idea about mechanics I'm assuming? Just do yourself a favor and don't start trying to talk about the engineering or mechanical properties of that engine until you've studied up. Its sounds really dumb you trying to talk about something you don't know. The reason it doesn't smoke and make a bunch of noise is because the first, it has a conservative fuel map in the tuning. Diesel engines smoke because you rich up the fuel mixture so much that it cannot burn all the fuel being provided. Secondly, the quietness comes from good lubrication, perhaps a thicker valve cover to block some of the valve/injector noise and lastly a well designed exhaust system. Now that you've been educated a little bit, next time just stick to explaining what you do know, and research what you don't.

I had one with over 270,000 miles and still running strong before I was hit, it actually still ran beautifully after being totaled.

I've seen these with very high miles, more reliable than most Mercedes from the era, and still a great looking car today.
Mine has 700,000 miles here in the UK, it's never been a taxi either, 2004 320CDi

We had a 2006 E320 CDI. It was a beautiful car overall. Only issue was it was horrible in winter being RWD with so much torque.

Well their in line 6 cylinder petrol and diesels are back. The new 350d and 400d models have the new inline 6s and it is glorious.

it will go up to 1mil with proper mainentance, especially diesel 2.7, 3.0, 3.2, smaller engines not worth it, they have bigger wear
we have those as taxies, they go up to 1mil, i think abut buying one with 400km on it, even interior looks mint when they reach 600k

The e220 diesel Evo version I had was a four cylinder , but 170bhp and 400 newton metres of torque, terrific acceleration

I had the same engine on my W210 was torquey but a little loud
W210 has om613, this has om648. They are similar but not the same

1979 240D owner here. Father had the 1987 300SDL. I loved that car and the 603 once the trap oxidizer was removed.

I've watched three minutes of the video, the guy talks like he was a pro, but has very assuredly said at least 3 factual bullshits - or if not BS, than at least wrong for everywhere else, MAYBE except US (I've no knowledge about Merc model availabilities and yearly ranges in US) - as all carmakers, Merc DESIGNS cars primarily for their own market, in this case - Germany and by extension EU.

you don't have any idea about mechanics I'm assuming? Just do yourself a favor and don't start trying to talk about the engineering or mechanical properties of that engine until you've studied up. Its sounds really dumb you trying to talk about something you don't know. The reason it doesn't smoke and make a bunch of noise is because the first, it has a conservative fuel map in the tuning. Diesel engines smoke because you rich up the fuel mixture so much that it cannot burn all the fuel being provided. Secondly, the quietness comes from good lubrication, perhaps a thicker valve cover to block some of the valve/injector noise and lastly a well designed exhaust system. Now that you've been educated a little bit, next time just stick to explaining what you do know, and research what you don't.
