- While we wait as the snow melts, prep work continues.
The lumber budget was blown, so perhaps with a little time, elbow grease, power tools and free waste pallets we can recoup some of that, for the bunky floor, and bonus 2x4s for framing.
Another experimental video. This one showing the process of busting up pallets & preparing the waste wood to be ready to re-use as a hardwood floor, instead of buying it at $5/square foot.
Cracking stuff mate. I love doing this, despite it probably costing "more". The creative process is what counts.
Tongue and groove ?
Skip the plaining process and make sure they are same width and glue them to the floor. Take a floor sander with 60 grit and sand it level. Then use a higher grit to smooth it out. Stain and coat you are done. Use epoxy and epoxy leveler to coat the floor and you do not even need to sand perfectly then.
I agree, I would also leave all the nail holes and stains , that character is what makes reclamated barn boards for flooring and wall covering so desirable.

If Yu woulda just Invented the pallet breaker you wouldn't have to do the hard work LOL
Where to get a pallet breaker?
whats that blue tool that you use to pry wood apart with?
looks like a bar bull pallet buster
Where can I get pallets that would be weatherized and protected against termites for cheap?
Its deffently worth it done for a customer. Her in florida on a 12×14 bed room running in to an accent wall the best way i found is to prep all the peaces as hole than cut to what you want than run your starting board edge on the jointer and then both sides of every board after words than where you are going to lay them lay out bar clamps glue. The edges of your boards and creat sections to fill the hole space lay out your first sections and put two part appoxy only in the corners glue the rest of your sections as you go than the last two corners and if you really want it to look good lightly hit with a torch going with the grain than seal
how bout you adjust that audio - voice levels at 5 .. planers and saws are at level 11
Never burn pallet wood as it's treated
