The pusher wasn’t out there to replicate or for show. It was because of how Orient acquired these movements from the Seiko 7000 series which is a date only movement. They had to add the date and put the pusher in there.
Thank you for watching. The Orient caliber 46943 is a reliable, well proven, workhorse movement; which has been used in many watches over the years. Seiko Epson are the parent company of both Seiko and Orient. Epson make the Orient movements, Seiko make the Seiko branded movements. Problems with the date pusher usually come from people changing the date around 12 which they shouldn't do as it can cause damage. Personally I prefer using the crown to set the day-date complications on a watch. It suited the design of the watch to have a pusher, as the Planet Ocean has a helium escape valve at 10 (opposite side of the case in the same position). Can you see the similarity between the Planet Ocean bezel insert, and the Mako XL one? I think Orient were trying to make a homage to it with this piece; hence the XL case size, as the Planet Ocean was 45.5mm. Regards.
Old time dive watches never had any AR coating so it’s not that big of a deal. It’s a a beautiful watch that is good enough for diving and swimming. No one’s going to be diving at night with this so the missing lume pip isn’t a problem. I recommend it. Despite your efforts to trash this beautiful watch I’m going to order my second one just to keep on hand because they don’t make them anymore.
Thank you for watching Mike. I will be reviewing a Phoibos PX002C next week, so that may be of interest to you. Wear your pieces in good health. Regards.
It was due to arrive today; but has been delayed so will now arrive Monday. I will review it and upload it then. I thought it would be an interesting piece to review as its only £100; but uses a quality Swiss Ronda 515 quartz movement; which is well proven. Similar looking case to the Steinhart Ocean One; but a less expensive option for collectors that prefer the practicality of quartz. I enjoy looking for excellent quality/value pieces under £200 as often that is the price point collectors can afford. Personally I don't think one should look down on watches in the low-tier; just because one can afford high-tier pieces such as Rolex etc. I enjoy my Casio Duro £52 watch just as much as my Tudor Black Bay to be honest with you Mike. Regards.
Thank you for watching Radou. Glad you enjoyed it. The Kamasu is an excellent quality/value watch at the respective price point. Congratulations. Wear yours in good health. Regards.
Orient kamaus is their best looking reasonably priced watch at the minute i think...defiantly worth a look if you haven't seen them yet...great reviews by the way
@@watchreviews4k i was thinking of either buying the red dial or green one at some stage but that green seiko alpinist is giving compulsive buy feeling 😀😀
The Alpinist is an excellent quality/value watch; but it is expensive. I prefer the previous version without the cyclops magnifier, rather than the current version. Regards.
Agreed, the prices have rocketed on eBay since their discontinuation. The blue even more than the green version. It's a shame Seiko didn't just update the specification, without adding the cyclops. Wear your pieces in good health. Regards.
thanks for the review, but i think you're being too critical and negative about this watch this wathc is going for 130usd in amazon, which is less than 100 pounds for it. so you're basically asking for a watch that has an in house movement, sapphire crystal with AR, solid end links and milled clasp with a 200m WR for this price?? you also forgot this watch came out in 2011, so you can't really use 2020 standards as you kept saying in the review...also if you did your research, all first gen orient divers with this movement has that pusher date changer, not really trying to copy omega...
Thank you for watching. No, I can't name a watch that meets all your specification for £100. However the Pagani Design PD1639 comes close; the only exception being the Seiko NH35A movement (rather than in-house). That watch is typically under £75 on Aliexpress. Regards.
@@watchreviews4k yes, but now you're talking about a chinese watch factory that has no history and only straight out copy designs. this orient, other than the orange bezel, has complete different dial, hands and than the omega. So between the pagani design and this orient, you're going to choose the pagani??
@@micofok730 Pagani Design don't just make "straight out copy designs". See link below, the also make many of their own original designs. I wouldn't choose either the PD1639 or Mako XL. I think the Kamasu is a better option to both. It has a sapphire crystal, and the in-house caliber F6922 movement. I also like its an original design from Orient, rather than Submariner homage. The one I reviewed was on the rubber strap; so that also solves the hollow end link, and pressed clasp negatives. See my review of it below. Regards. www.paganidesignwatch.com/?aff=23 ua-cam.com/video/ulh4--PDWLE/v-deo.html&t=
Of course, everyone knows kamasu is better with the sapphire and such, but it's also double the price. That's the thing about this review, you're critically negative about this watch because you're comparing to much watches at higher price point. So biased.. And you lose me completely when you say PD has original designs....good luck with future reviews
Orient is a low-tier Japanese brand. Omega is a high-tier Swiss brand. One cannot make a fair comparison as a result. Both brands make some excellent quality/value pieces at their respective price points. Regards.
Just came cross your review. It's a beautiful watch and well made and only $165! Your review is so negative! Get yourself an Omega watch and then you will be positive and happy review. I have to leave now!
Thank you for watching. I wear a Submariner Date, check out my review of it. I am also critical, and objective in my review. Also check out my Orient Kamasu review, which is positive as I consider it excellent quality/value at the respective price point. It is easy to make a wholly positive review as a fanboy of a brand; ignoring the negatives. But that isn't reality; collectors need to hear about the negatives, as well as the positives of a watch. Regards.
I think the master chronometer movements such as the caliber 8900 used in the Planet Ocean doesn't get the respect it is due. I also prefer the METAS chronometer certification to COSC used by Rolex. As the chronometer accuracy is tested when the movement is at 30% of its power reserve, not 100% as per COSC testing of Rolex movements. So for that reason I regard Omega as an underrated (rather than overrated) brand. They are also making other innovations such as using ceramic dials; while many other brands such as Rolex are still using painted dials. Regards.

Thanks for the review. I was undecided which one to buy, this one or the Kamasu with the blue dial. I guess you know which was my final choice. 😀
