I used to do some tounaments but the only time I come with an unusual strat who worked was in early gen 9 OU (February/March 2023) with no item Corviknight with Thief. The idea was to pair it with Garganacl, and because Gholdengo was mostly played at that time with covert clock and really want to block Defog from Corv, I was able to steal Gholdengo's corvert clock early in the match and weaken easily my opponent's team with Salt Cure later on the match.
These tricks must be really confusing for your opponents on the first go, like a Zoroark swap without Zoroark. I'm reminded of the witch in Willow yelling "Impossible!!!!". These are really cool ways to play around expectations to lay traps.
I love strategies like this. My favorite that I've personally come up with is Choice Scarf Barraskewda with Primordial Sea (this is in AAA). NOBODY expects Barraskewda to have choice scarf. It's really funny to outspeed and OHKO Regieleki.
I think one of the coolest strats I used was Force Palm on my Technician Marshadow, I know that I lose a little damage, but the chance of paralysis is quite invaluable.
