    This video saved my life in working with my local planning department ; they were adamant about us matching the historic look. We wanted to do nail on. This is the way to go.

    I know this is old but I wonder if the old school roofing tar in the one gallon cans would work as well as these expensive new style liquid stuff ? And this is another great reason to have the largest overhangs on your house that you can, if water can't get to the window, it cannot leak.

    Im curious, what the cost of this product versus brake metal flashing is? Im curious because I have always used sill pan brake metal flashing in the shape of the window subframe profile. Also, how does this stuff react to silicone, house wrap, waterproofing membrane etc...

    Great video. Curious as to finished sill detail. Jus Stucco or something to shed water out onto the stucco surface below. Similarly on the head. Is there any weep screed at the head to allow for any water int he rainscreen detail to drain out?

    can a product like "flex seal" be used instead of liquid flashing? flex seal basically is a rubberized spray that can be applied much faster

    How do you then finish the surroundings of the window so that gray material doesn't show?

    What do you recommend for a contemporary/modern home 10ft ceiling, the rough opening size of a recess window? 3, 4.5, 6 inches?An should I frame it with 2x6 or 2x8? What look better in your opinion?

    Matt....HELP...i have a unique problem....have 9 Andersen doublehung windows that have attached 1/2 rounds on top.....how do i install them with Typar drainage housewrap and 3/4" sheet foam insulation. I know i need to correctly fold in the housewrap in the rough opening and then a flap at the top and tape but how do i add the foam insulation withough "burying" my windows with the foamboard. I can't add 3/4" furing strips around the rough opening to bring the window out without not doing the housewrap correctly.......remember we are dealing with a window with a arched top....also have a large 3' x'5' oval window that is going in the 2nd story. Siding with vinyl "Cedar Shake" panels that require a ONE INCH "J" channel around each window....Maybe you could demonstrate how to do this in a vid....Thanks

    matt; what about zip with roxul panel/comfort board on a retrofit in Canada little to no insulation on this house hot in summer cold in winter leaks air like a open window . electric heat /baseboard only but at winter set right it keeps us warm and combats the cold a kinda. crawl space has some sort of underfloor heater to heat it as well. is a odd duck.

    Please help. I'm doing a detail like this on a castle home I'm building. It will have a 3/8" rolled rainscreen, 1/2" cement board , a laticrete fluid applied water barrier over cement board then cultured stone veneer. Can you show me how to detail the rainscreen and stone around the recessed windows? Thankyou

    This appears to have sheathing with integral weather barrier. How does fluid applied flashing and lapping work if you have conventional building paper?

    • @OOpSjm
      @OOpSjm 3 роки тому

      Tape the edges then lap on to tape with fluid flashing

    Do you have a video on flashing windows without nailing flanges? Up here in canada, nailing flanges are almost unheard of, and so is sill flashing apparently. very sad state of affairs up here.

  • @flightmedic7169

    You have any arched windows on stucco videos ?

  • @GabrielTrif
    @GabrielTrif 2 роки тому

    Seems like the wrong type of window (with a nailing flange) to be installed recessed. One with an anchor bracket would be more suitable.

    Can you just use this product as the finished layer and paint it instead of stucco

    I see the purpose of doing joints, but just covering the face of a 2x seems like a waste and useless.

    I'm curious what is done around these
    recessed windows when siding is applied.

    • @kookiethebear
      @kookiethebear 6 років тому

      Matt mentioned, "whether siding or stucco, this install is the same". However, for such a modern build, I can't imagine using board siding.
