Hi dad! Happy Father’s Day I love you so darn much and I wish you the best of luck with your UA-cam channel! I can’t wait to make great memories in the summer with you! Love, ✨Maddy✨
I had a broken intake pushrod today, was about to open the engine up but watched your video through and decided to try and remove the broken half from inside first. The inspection camera showed it resting inside not touching any moving parts but being aluminium a magnet couldn't grab it, I inserted a couple of cable ties into the broken end and friction held it as I lifted the broken part straight out through the head. No glitter in the oil so I think I'm good for just a new pushrod. Thank you so much for your video and advice.
Good to see you get that rod out of there! I change oil & filter by draining & then flipping the tractor on it’s side to also scrape out the deck spooge & sharpen the blades. With my luck, the rod would have moved into the cam gears…
Yes I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing that pushrod being down in there even though 3 1/2 inches from the sump but the right thing to do . Good video DW6
I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing the pushrod was laying at the bottom of the engine. I had just assumed you had removed it on the original repair and didn't show it. Seems like a good unit... especially for the price you paid :)
This is a very good video and I was hoping it would address my slightly different problem. My exhause push rod detached and I can now see it in the lower bore hole. I have tried to remove it with needle nose pliers to no avail. Something is holding it back and I have rotated the fly wheel in hopes that this would help. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Great video. Just had this happen on the same tractor. What causes this in the first place? And if one pushrod goes should they all be replaced? Thanks
Taking that push rod out of the engine was the right thing to do. I would NEVER leave a piece of metal in an engine that doesn't belong there. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤷🏿♂️
Question. If if you knew it wasn't going to bother anything and were selling, would you tell, list in description ect... that it was in fact inside the engine? Or knowing it wasn't going to bother anything just not include that information. Great Channel very descriptive and the explanations very helpful for the learning part. Thanks!
Not like it's hard to do or very time consuming or expensive. If you're going to sell it and we all know you are. You either tell the buyer or do the right thing and fix it properly.
I took one apart to find the missing push rod and it was wrapped like a pretzel around the camshaft. Perfectly placed so it kept it captured and away from any meshing gears. My neighbor still has that twisted push rod as a show and tell piece. 🥨
You say it's okay for a push rod to lay on the bottom because it's not going to hit anything well you're wrong absolutely wrong ! Because that rod will bounce around, the reason I say this is because you don't know or anybody if that push rod is bent in two ways or sticking up or what . All you know is that the push rod fell into the lower end of the block. You always no matter what don't leave nothing inside the engine that's loose it will tear something up eventually and be very expensive. It doesn't matter if it's a steel rod or aluminum rod you remove it.

Good job Bob, hate you had to pull the engine to get it out but you have it purring now. 👍

Is have to get it out
@@MunkyWrench true I would have took it out also

I always take them out. Mainly because I don't want the person that bought it coming back because of something I should have done. Great video Bob.
Better to get it out and know customer won't bring it back later
I would get it fished out for piece of mind. I would then follow that up with a new crankshaft seal and sump gasket😊
I think you did the right thing, why take chances right? Thanks for the vid DW6. 👍👍
Definitely
Those oil drains…I always convert to hard pipe! Happy Father’s Day!
What was the pushrod from? How did it fall outta place? Would it run without replacing it?

don't even know if it could be done , but would've been interesting to take sump off with engine upright , to see where pushrod ended up .
Could be done but difficult n messy to open t right side up

When I lose my push rod in my twin I just lean it back and stick magnet down the oil fill tube to retrieve it.
Great job, got it up and chugging

Agreed
I have to get myself a little lift. I'm getting older so, the aches and pain stick around a little longer.
Hats off! fixed it the correct way. 👍
Definitely
B/S needs to put a magnet in sump to catch all there junk parts. Right???
I would of done what you did. I don't think I would of been comfortable leaving the push rod in the sump.
Would drive me crazy in my machine and if customer repair it would be worse.. def take it out
I might take my engine off my oil seal around the shaft that spins the shaft is leaking. Is that common
i just ran mine all day with a rod at the bottom no issues

Not telling wouldn't be ethical. Also if the rod got loose it would be bad for the sellers reputation.
@@jC-kc4si unfortunately some people are not ethical .. I would tell my customers
I always tell my customers.. thats why I film my repairs so they know exactly what they are getting. Beat biz practice to build trust with clients
I had the exact same thing happen to the exact same mower
Same here
What would happen, driving on a side hill, with the push rod lying in the sump?
You would need to be on 60 degrees because it’s to steep
What ever it takes to get it out
How did it happen?
I the rocker arm was loose

That engine was hungry for it ate the push rod that is not great for the engine
