  • In this episode of our New Orleans travel vlog we are on a best hot dog search as we visit Dat Dog which has three locations in New Orleans on Magazine Street, Freret Street and Frenchmen Street. We are going to start our visit at the Dat Dog location at 3336 Magazine Street which is which is about 12 minutes and 3 miles away from the New Orleans French Quarter. We will also be making a visit to the location at 5030 Freret Street which is about 14 minutes and 4 miles away from the New Orleans French Quarter. Dat Dog started back in 2011 but this is my first visit to this establishment as I’m not the biggest fan of most hot dogs. So join me as part of our search for best hot dog options in the New Orleans area. New Orleans has a lot of great food and that also includes some of the best hot dogs I have ever eaten anywhere so I don’t really have to travel for best hot dog options that I already know about that are some of my favorites. I might go so far as to say that New Orleans might have the best hot dogs in the USA to my taste but first we feast on what could be the USA best hot dog candidate for you to judge for yourself. I am constantly asking where is the best hot dog and who has the best hot dog and often I find the best hot dogs are still found in New Orleans so we will eat with me hot dog perfection so let’s get started with a hot dog eat with me on our travel vlog.

    You should've tried the crawfish eutoffe dog and the alligator dog. Those are my favorites anyway. Enjoyed the video.

      The etouffee I had on my Tater Tots didn't have much in the way of crawfish unfortunately. Crawfish have been in short supply and expensive this year though and at least prices are finally coming down. It certainly has been a challenging time for crawfish! Hopefully we have a better season next year. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for this video! Looks like a cool place, aesthetically. I had wondered about this plans and thought perhaps I would try it when we come out again, but none of the hot dogs sou sound that appealing. I like straight up hot dogs.

      Thanks for watching! They have a lot of very different kinds of hot dogs but for the price I would rather have a poboy!

    I've ate at the one on Magazine. I rented an Airbnb behind the Bulldog Uptown. Pricey for hot dogs but they were delicious. Have you ever had breakfast at Slim Goodies? Thanks for posting!

      I'm surprised they haven't expanded to Metairie and the Westbank yet... although I have never seen a whole lot of people at any of the locations in quite awhile. They have a LOT of staff so I'm not sure how their business model works? Kudos to them for employing a lot of folks.

      @@NOLAGent1 I think people go there mostly for the atmosphere and bar as opposed to the food.

      @blaineaustin-ml9xz Yes that food certainly is not a motivation factor to me to ever return 😀👍

    You do NOLA a great service. How many restaurants are on Magazine St ?

    • @NOLAGent1
      @NOLAGent1  7 місяців тому

      I couldn't tell you an exact number as they keep opening new ones and others close so I can't keep up with it. We also have these pop up restaurants at bars as well. My most accurate number would be "a lot" as nearly every block seems to have at least one these days on Magazine.

    I could get a Rib Eye steak at those prices. What are people thinking??? Happy hour prices are ok. I guess

    • @NOLAGent1

      These gourmet hot dogs didn't seem gourmet to me... The steak sounds way better!

    Looks like an under 25 drinking joint with some cheap food to accompany alcohol intake.

    • @studio95951

      Not really very cheap if you have to pay 9 bucks or more for one hot dog.

    • @NOLAGent1
      @NOLAGent1  8 місяців тому

      Not very competitive with Costco's $1.50 huge hotdog with a drink but maybe the cool factor makes it worth it to some folks?

    • @NOLAGent1
      @NOLAGent1  8 місяців тому

      That is probably an accurate assessment 👍😀
