- On March Tenth a Granite Rock hopper train derailed at Taylor Street in
Downtown S.J. due to a faulty truck (wheel). This is video 2 of 2 that
documents the re-rail of the two end cars on the train. - Авто та транспорт
FYI those cats was originally design for pipeline work they are pipe laying cats they are not called sidewinders.
I wonder if they could possibly squeeze just a couple more guys in there??
I counted 14 people plus the operator.Tough dangerous job.
John, must be universal, same as here in UK
I was on scene too taking as many photos and videos as I can of the derailment. I think you got me somewhere in the video.
GS Productions Oh, that's cool! It was quite the scene! I'll check out your videos too!
Train101 It was rare for me considering this was the first time I've witnessed an aftermath of a derailment.
I agree, this was my first derailment too.
Reminds me of my time in the Corps. Lotta dudes standing around, four guys working, one person comes over and touches whatever you're working on, then the guys leaning up yell at the ones actually working about something or other hahahaha.
You have equipment operators of the contactor (hulcher), the ground guys, usually 4, the wreckmaster and his assistant. The ones in the yellow vests are supervisors from different departments of the railroad, Engineering, transportation and mechanical department. You don't know the situation, it's really none of your business. It's a private company doing what they need to get back to operations.
Everyone of them is a pretty good sized fella, I don't think you would say that to their faces.
How many men does it take to change a tyre ?
They need a few more guys standing round with there hands in there pockets.
Which one is the safety geek and which one is the boss? The guys in the orange vest seem to the labor from Hilcher. The yellow vests are likely railroad employees who screwed up and derailed the train.
In this kind of work people standing around moving their bodies and arms around telling fishing stories or talking about the football game is very distracting to the operators doing the lifting you probably never operated heavy lifting equipment other than a fork and spoon at dinner so in their pockets is the best place for them
Looks like a state job.
This job is not for everybody this is no state job no walk in the park you on call 24/7 and 82 of hours you you might be in another state from where you started from you might have just this might be a second the train derailment within two days I done this for five years you'll see the sky could you see the sun go down and sun coming up. Did a lot of times your training new guys write down what they doing right now is putting the wheels together for the Springs back in the axle solix it set the wheels back on the Railcar
Some of those people that are standing around are investigators and insurance adjusters and the like. My old man used to go to disasters and he would look like a worker in orange vest, hard hat etc. But it was mandatory for him to be there because he was the adjuster and it was required for him to watch the cleanup and see all damages that his company would be providing reimbursement for. There’s more going on behind the scenes that we know what these incidences.
The "sidewinder" Cat always mystified me until some of you fellas put up the videos showing their uses. Thanks. A "sidewinder" for a train car or engine that got sideways on the grade.
Cat 583 sidebooms

I guess everyone knows where San Jose is located? Or Is that San Joaquin? Or is that St. Joseph? There are lots of cities with the abbreviation S.J.
(chuckle) On a railroad job, three people working and 10 supervising.
John Buffum The crew in yellow green is the railroad crews the people in orange vest are contracted help .
Also remember that "railroading" consists of many fields, and each field has a job to do. But if there's nothing for them to do at that moment, they're going to stand around and wait.
Easy money...
Not easy money.
@@AllanLoveJr I would guess you don't have or want a job
You generally see older Cat's doing this stuff. Do they not make these versions in the new machines? Or is it where you put older machines?
They do make new pipelayers, but the'yre not common and therefore expensive. Older machines can generally be had for cheaper, and are still supported by Cat. Better investment than buying a new machine, generally
The same number must watch the work as do the work clause 4 rule 445 railroad workers and watcher rule book
There's a few relective bright jackets that need replacing.
The men that do the most need it the most
It appears that there was too much graffiti on one side of the orange gondola and the imbalance caused the car to tip.
Well if they put the same amount of graffiti on the other side this wouldn't have happened.
I was watching a series on penguins when this video showed up. Sadly no penguins, only a wagon on the floor :-(
🐧 here you go
The man with hands in pocket, very proffesional! Hardworker!!!
now now..... lets give some credit to the ones with their arms crossed too........ actually I didn't see any yellow vest men doing a thing..
@@willow9530 Railroad supervisors from different departments
Too many chiefs and not enough indians.
I've counted at least three sets of twins there??!
Now, I watch these “derailment videos” and I wonder how do they get derailed?
I agree. Too many supervising and not enough doers.
What? The railroad hired the contractor. Those are supervisors from different departments. A general and Senior general car foreman, a signal foreman, probably a mid level engineering manager along with the roadmaster. You people talk out your ass on shit you know nothing about.
All these workers, with the yellow vests, are the same size as the cranes.
All it takes is for two railroad cars to start goofing off and it ruins my day.
Find the kids from the movie "Six Pack" they can get it up and running in no time with parts stolen from another rail company. LOL
Probability of a lost toe=high.
Well, if it isn't a little passel of Hulcher's.
They put it down on the truck with a spring missing from one side.
They have to go to a car shop anyways.
It will be uneven for the weight on the truck but hopefully they didnt go far lol
Fonud? Oh, I guess you meant Found.
beep beep beep beep.. that would drive me mad
Unexceptionable amount of time.
I used to work for that company
You musta been the only one (who worked).
@J.R. 48 Numbskull, I didn't say anything about fingers. You crowed about once working for that company, and in watching this video, many of their employed are not working at all. unless you count hands on hips and watching. You must be a snowflake to get triggered so easily. The men who ARE working do a fascinating job.
More standing around than working ,look at the size of them
i bet ,,,,,,,,if you even have a job that you're the only guy in the company going full bore 8 hours a day and NEVER HAVE ANY DOWN TIME............OR NEVER TRY TO SHOVE SOME OF YOUR WORK OFF ON SOMEBODY ELSE.........RIGHT OR WRONG ERIC.......
Great repurposing of old D8K pipe-lying tractors.
10 guys standing around and only 4 working.lol
they ones watching work for the same company that you do that's all you do is talk like you know whats going on
None of y'all know what's going on I work for hulcher services in 5 years Port Allen and Memphis division
Train wreaking is dangerous JOB
This is what happens when you put pennies on the track. See boys and girls?
