Chasing the Union Pacific Permanente Local
After months of inactivity with the exception of a few night runs, Union Pacific's Permanente Local took to the rails in daylight once more as the train brought a pair of empty cement hoppers up to the plant for storage. Although its not much, its still awesome to see trains return to the rails of this super cool branch line!

Trains Return to the Union Pacific Permanente Branch!
Переглядів 4253 роки тому
After not seeing any rail traffic for the better part of a year, Union Pacific's Permanente Branch roared to life once more as 10 hoppers went up to the cement plant for storage on February 12th; however, due to a mudslide, the train got stranded at the cement plant and was unable to return to Warm Springs. 2 days later on Valintines Day Morning, a crew was dispatched to Permanente to rescue to...

After getting stopped a few times throughout the morning, UP 1989 flies through Plesanton Ca, on their way to the Port of Oakland! This video was taken earlier in the year, but was a cool catch nonetheless! Hopefully more neat engines like this one will show up soon!
A Short Chase of the Union Pacific Permanente/54 Local
Переглядів 4873 роки тому
Filmed Spring 2020 Earlier this year, one of the last big pulls from the Permanente Cement Plant before its shut down happened where UP 1488 and 1522 were tasked with bringing a train entirely made up of stored cement cars down the hill from the cement plant and back to Warm Springs. After this, only a few more revenue trains ran before the cement plant had shut down indefinitely. Its return is...
UP 1111 with a Passenger Special on the Coast Sub
Переглядів 3113 роки тому
Earlier this year UP 1111, Union Pacific's "Powered by Our People" Locomotive was in charge of pulling a passenger special from San Luis Obispo to Oakland CA. I chased the train from Morgan Hill to Alviso with a stop at Coyote in between.
Caltrain 922 and an SD40 Leader on the Mission Bay Local!

After being rebuilt Caltrain 922 comes back to the Bay Area! It was to my surprise that on this evening, 922 had made it to Warm Springs and was being taken to San Jose. I chased the train from Warm Springs to College Park where it was interchanged with Caltrain. In addition, JPBX 504, an MP15 rolled up to College Park as they went to pick up the 922.

On April 3rd, the Union Pacific Hollister Local went to the North San Jose industrial park to switch cars. I captured the operation as UP 1347 ventured out here to do their work.
A Union Pacific Autorack Train in Milpitas, CA

On this cool March morning, I found myself trackside of the Warm Springs Sub, once again. I had planned on chasing the Permanente/54 Local, but soon found out that due to the virus, the cement plant had shut down, meaning that the train would turn in Campbell. I was able to make it out to the Warm Springs Sub just in time to see the 54 coming back to Warm Springs and right after, got the ANPMI ...

The Union Pacific Hollister Local in Gilroy, CA
Переглядів 7734 роки тому
Last week, I made a trip out to Gilroy to see the Union Pacific Hollister Local. This day, they had GP22T4's # Y1007 and Y1008 for power. I based my video around the spur track leading to the International Paper Industry. I hope you enjoy!

Last Sunday, UP once again ran the 54/Permanente Local up to the cement plant. This day they used a pair of SD40's for the train. It was raining this day causing some of my shots to get water on the lens. Some I left out while others I left in. I hope you enjoy!

Chasing Sunday's 54/Permanente Local from Campbell to Rancho San Antonio in Los Altos before the cement plant. This day, the train took 2 cars up, one being picked up in Campbell. The power for the train was UP 1456 and UP 1131
Chasing a short Union Pacific Permanente Local

Chasing last Sunday's edition of the 54/Permanente Local! No SD40's that day, but a pair of GP40's! 9992 is an ex-Western Pacific engine, so that was a nice treat! It's been a while since I've seen it. They only had one car with them making for a fairly easy chase. Was able to do four spots and probably could've fit in five with no problem, but stuck with four.
Golden Gate Railroad Museum Locomotive Move Featuring: SP 2472, 3194 and 1487!

After sitting dormant for 5 years in the back of Brightside Yard, SP 2472, GP9 #3194, and Fairbanks Morse #1487 were taken through Niles Canyon one last time with the assistance of SP's 5623 and 1195. The locomotives were brought to Hearst Siding and Interchange with the Union Pacific Railroad and left there for later pick up by UP. I caught both the Niles Canyon Railway and Union Pacific moves...
Chasing the Union Pacific Permanente Local from Cupertino to Los Gatos CA

Last Sunday, I once again chased the 54/Permanente Local! Here is the video of them once again using the SD40N's for power! I'll try to mix up the locations and angles at which I get the train more to keep things entertaining. Here I visited a new spot, but the train was on my heels and had to film in the sun - I wasn't about to run in front of it. Besides that, I visited my spot in Cupertino a...

I Like How The Train Copy’s the Car Horn Train 101
Nice Race Between Amtrak 14 And Caltrain
Where do the passengers ride?😢
Will the perm ever come back into service?
Great catches and nice video
When does this train work this area
what is the type of crossing mast seen on Oakland Rd? It's much larger than typical cantilevers
what does the R stand for
Nice Catches!
Wow that military train was carrying medical ambulances to humvees and towed artillery cannons and APCs wow
Good job of getting 3033
Train 101 I Like The Union Pacific Permanente Local I Hear it From My House
Nice Catch
Fonud? Oh, I guess you meant Found.
Been a fan of this local for over half a century. Used to ride my bike with friends down to the tracks in Campbell after school a lot and wait for the trains. Used to be pretty busy back in the days where orchards were prevalent. Think the locos were SP SD and GP 9’s back then. Sad to see the line go quiet ... forever GP 60s are my favorite!
I Love The Horn And Bell Train 101
Hay Train 101 That Was Way to close to The Tracks That’s Why The Engineer Has To Blow The Horn To Tell you To Move Away From The Tracks That’s Why I Have To Film From A Distance
Just randomly got recommended to me
You generally see older Cat's doing this stuff. Do they not make these versions in the new machines? Or is it where you put older machines?
They do make new pipelayers, but the'yre not common and therefore expensive. Older machines can generally be had for cheaper, and are still supported by Cat. Better investment than buying a new machine, generally
Now, I watch these “derailment videos” and I wonder how do they get derailed?
Still dropping off at economy lumber in Campbell eh?
Nice
I was in the cab of the 2472 for that move
Nice
That dude at 2:47 has a lot of guts, I thought he was going to get hit!
That’s nice I caught that on the Clovis branch line
transporting some brazilian military vehicles
The day this line inevitably closes, I want it to become a tourist line. Someone could run trains from the plant in Cupertino down to Campbell and back while highlighting the valley's agricultural history.
I wonder if they took the rock hoppers up the Permanente sub to the Permanente quarry in Cupertino
Where is the lumber yard on that branch? Blessings!
Reminds me of my time in the Corps. Lotta dudes standing around, four guys working, one person comes over and touches whatever you're working on, then the guys leaning up yell at the ones actually working about something or other hahahaha.
You have equipment operators of the contactor (hulcher), the ground guys, usually 4, the wreckmaster and his assistant. The ones in the yellow vests are supervisors from different departments of the railroad, Engineering, transportation and mechanical department. You don't know the situation, it's really none of your business. It's a private company doing what they need to get back to operations.
I am surprised the military hardware was not protected by soldiers.
I counted 14 people plus the operator.Tough dangerous job.
FYI those cats was originally design for pipeline work they are pipe laying cats they are not called sidewinders.
I once saw four GP30’s and a hopper car in a Burlington Northern paint scheme not too long ago while on a drive to San Francisco. It was very surprising!
Excellent video. Too bad, VTA light rail Vasona Junction extension by Highway 85 and Netflix didn't make it.
I can’t believe nobody commented until 4 years later
Nice video as always!
2 amtrak dash 8 can p42dc? Very nice video! Amtrak my favorite locomotive watching philippines!
Awesome train videos in Santa Clara 2019!

Nice catch!
SP wasn't the only road to have P3s ya know
Yeah but the old cast SP ones are lovely
31 years ago when I was young kid I start to watch Southern Pacific in Aug 1990.
Cool Vid!
Great video!
Ohh nice catch and seeing the Perm back! Was this just today?
Thanks! This was a couple months ago; however, they made a run up to the cement plant today
@@Train101 Oh yeah I heard a K3LA similar to a SD59MX, I did not catch it though, did you see it? Probably another storage run (assuming the plant is still closed)?
@@patrickyu8470 Yes, UP 9920, UP 9924 and 8 cement hoppers
Awesome Eric! So glad to see it running again! Thanks for covering it.
