The hard swap parry at 7:18 was simply a remove weapon during the stun in prediction that he’d get an opportunity to parry out of the stun. Then he did a straight animation reaction parry. The first r1 and r2 of the valorheart are both more than slow enough to react to the animation alone and parry. I do that too where I swap during the stun and parry out of it on animation reaction or read.
Yeah the hardswap per se wasn't the impressive part. It was to have the presence of mind to go for it in hitstun (after trading in an unexpected way) while also making the read that his opponent would go for the R2 roll catch. There was a lot happening.

This video answered a lot of problems/doubts I've been having recently. The last month I've been practicing a fair amount with hardswapping while using claymore, pulled off my first hardswap parry from a running r1. But I kept over thinking that my play style is not good enough in terms of basic rustic play so I was deciding if I should stop utilizing hardswaps. Why do I have to rely on swaps on claymore to beat some players? I think one of the most crucial techniques of his claymore play, or really anyone’s, is the aggressive quick swaps. As he keeps his opponent close he swaps to a different ring or ludex’s. This combined with the already Agro play style with a high damage, highly respected weapon, it impacts the opponent to a degree that is unmatched. And what’s interesting is that I never see this from the average gank, maybe it’s because they can have one of themselves go out of the fray and one goes in to keep a consistent pressure, but if they doubled that pressure..we’ll let’s just say I’d have to wait for elden ring somewhere other than dark souls 3.

@@littleshrimping6872 yeah. That's why I understand the attitude. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, but I do prefer when he doesn't do that.
G9's greatsword is a vessel for the aggressive swaps. However you must be ready to reaction roll. It takes a phenomenal amount of focus. Playing against it takes a near equal amount of focus and a little prediction as to what swaps to expect.
I agree, although I'd argue that you need a lot more than just "a little prediction" to guess his swaps, and swaps in general honestly. A single wrong prediction resulting in death demands a lot of counterplay.
@@hobosorcerer that's true. If it were me, I'd probably nerf Gundyr's WA. That's the biggest one that causes the most problems. A wide sweeping WA with tons of travel, AND hyperarmor, AND does shit tons of damage. Oh, and it can be unlocked to avoid parry attempts too.
also I know there is Gundyr counterplay, and especially if you have a shield or read the charge you can BS the attempt, but I still think all in all it is a bit OP.
G9's Greatsword play is honestly super impressive to watch. He doesn't make mistakes with it. I can use greatswords well, but I make mistakes constantly. He never gets punished and always keeps up the pressure. It's mind blowing.
I would also like the question is defensive greatsword the standard? I thought offensive greatsword was the only viable way to use the weapon and that’s kinda how I play it since I find it was more effective than only playing defensively that doesn’t sound right to me. As a person who used the greatsword class a lot I find that playing offensively is just the best way to use poise weapons in general, you bully your opponent around with hyper armor. Obviously there are situations where you have to play defensively but in most 1v1 settings you want to always be aggressive always looking to apply pressure. Since I mostly play pontiff duels players will feel the need to attack it is not often you will find a player who never attacks maybe in the arena but not at pontiff they will eventually attack you and that’s your chance to get big damage I honestly don’t really know where this defensive play style for greatsword game from since it only really works against less skilled players ganks But that’s just make take on it
I main greatsword, and the big problem with greatsword is its intrinsically a defensive weapon. It's not fast enough to be anything else, and you don't have many tools to pressure your opponents very well. The way to be aggressive with it is to stay in their face and threaten a trade. Offhand weapons or hardswaps alleviate these issues pretty well. Claystoc is a pretty nasty combo
I realize it's the meta but hardswapping into hyper armor WA's will never be cool to me. Feels like runescape pvp just clicking on different weapons to RPS your opponent. Nothing unique about a build/playstyle with access to everything imo
It really brings the pressure, and I love using it against parry spammers too! Absolutely destroys them. The only real risk is being too aggressive in roll catching, as a parry spammer will sometimes call you on it.
I actually love the rapier and claymore because you set up the rapier offhand poke, claymore swing, then claymore r2 when they go to roll away. It doesn't have the range of the estoc, but I love the ability to parry with the rapier
@@alimargaming8722 yeah the approach I use these days is main estoc for the reach, then hardswap to rapier if I get a read for a parry. This catches even good players who know the difference, and relax when they see it is Estoc.
all these clips just show us that not having the ability to parry will allow you to get pushed around by gundyr's halberd. always be one handed with a off hand small shield
If you have a parry tool out then he'll just unlock the charge. If you read the Gundyr swap coming you might hardswap to a parry tool - if you time it right, he'll lock on for the charge. But if you do it too early, he'll unlock it and you'll get heavily punished. Whiffing a Gundyr parry is expensive.
@@iamamish if he does it a close range you can do a small shield parry since it has very early block frames and it will be very hard to unlock and evade the parry

I understand your frustration, and I share it to some extent. That said, I don't blame JeeNiNe, or any of the other players who use these glitches. Once they were released into the wild, this was the inevitable result. I (and many other players) begged with the folks who found some of these glitches not to release them. @@DS_DoggerX I don’t think I’ve ever seen more deplorable ganks then the ones g9 fights sometimes
Couldn't agree more Sam. It takes insane dedication and focus to achieve what he does.
Yeah Dogger, exactly. He just almost never makes mistakes. It's crazy really.
I'm so confused. I didn't the the great sword one time lol

Since I mostly play pontiff duels players will feel the need to attack it is not often you will find a player who never attacks maybe in the arena but not at pontiff they will eventually attack you and that’s your chance to get big damage I honestly don’t really know where this defensive play style for greatsword game from since it only really works against less skilled players ganks
But that’s just make take on it
I main greatsword, and the big problem with greatsword is its intrinsically a defensive weapon.
And are you suposed to only have a straight sword, GS and UGS or?
@@_doop8257 This question isn't really worth answering. You're gonna have to elaborate

When I use ur set up estoc & great sword on ps4 it makes people melt every time 😂 especially parry spammers they can’t handle it at all 😂😂 ty bro

@@iamamish you beat me to it
@@iamamish or you can dodge backwards (towards his back) and then forward and the third roll (because gundyr's final sweep is kinda broken)
@@epicg2677 the other thing is that he rarely does it at distance. It’s almost always in close quarters where avoiding it is much more difficult.
@@iamamish if he does it a close range you can do a small shield parry since it has very early block frames and it will be very hard to unlock and evade the parry
Obviously g9 is a great player! But since i come to ps4 the diference between 30 fps players an 60 fps players is kinda frustrating... its literaly a pay to win
I play on both and the only difference I really notice is in doing ravioli steps. On PC I pull it off consistently. In Bloodborne I pull it off consistently. PS4 DS3, I can never do it.
@@DS_DoggerX roll raviolis and raviolis without pre animations are unavaible on 30 fps but im not talking aboit this. 60 makes everithing easyer to react... so reaction rolls and wiff punishes r easyer. Yeah I see where you learn how to cheat. Which is what put the final nail in the coffin for this game. Everyone wants to cheat and glitch there way to wins. When 75% of all players were cheating that’s when I put this game up. Anyway Amish your videos are great man. You are a legend man. Peace
I understand your frustration, and I share it to some extent. That said, I don't blame JeeNiNe, or any of the other players who use these glitches.
Once they were released into the wild, this was the inevitable result. I (and many other players) begged with the folks who found some of these glitches not to release them. Unfortunately some people were more interested in their bump in YT views than in the game itself.
Once a set of glitches is out, you put yourself at a real disadvantage if you don't use them yourself, in at least some circumstances.
@@iamamish I get that but just because the glitches are out there you don’t have to use them. But Jee making videos on how to do them means his partially to blame for it. Whenever he was streaming and all his fan girls was invading it would get so bad I would stop for the night so I can blame him for making a problem worse and bigger. But anyway hoping that elden ring will be good. I have my doubts about that game. I don’t think it will have the longevity of the souls games.
Love JeeNine stuff and videos but man would i hate to go against him.
I've fought him a few times, though not recently. I'm sure he'd wipe the floor with me. It's fun fighting players who are a lot better though, as long as you go in with the right attitude.
Weapon gundry swap WA is fun to watch but its a tryhard tactic, please don’t try to actually educate yourself with this play.
No no no, don't watch his video, and don't do what he does. Most people can't do it, every single damn red now copies Jeenine, they can't win without it, it gets really old fighting the same shit all day. And then when those cheesers realize they can't beat me with it, they run away like bitches waiting for other reds to spam the same shit, hardswap to either corvian or gundyr, and constant glitches. It's so bad that even hosts and phantoms I invade do it now quite frequently.
Yeah for sure he has moved the meta. There is a reason though people are following his lead - it is enormously effective.
@@iamamish
Yea, it is effective but it's gay. There's only one build people use now. That's why I've stopped playing at meta and have gone down to lower levels, to avoid all that bullshit. To me it's not about winning or losing, I just don't find that style of play fun. I'll happily get my ass kicked to a better opponent, it's fun to have a challenge. But people now aren't like that. It's just constant cheese and glitches, I'm starting to see it more at lower levels too.
Part of me wishes Fromsoft would stop making these types of games.
I'm not going to pretend that I'm better than him, cuz I'm not. Most of the people using his method suck at the basics of PvP.
It's just that... it's killed basically killed the game for me. Plus add in that fact that when those people lose or are about to lose they quit out or turn on cheat engine. It's not fun anymore. Ya fell me?
I would like to face off against you one of these days tho. In 1v1s and other types of fights.
@@s.e.n3264 I understand to some extent. To me the issue isn't his style of play (which I actually enjoy), it is the non-stop use of glitches.
Everyone uses them because they know the other players will, and so it escalates into the situation we have now.
For me, the glitches are what turned me off of meta. Unfortunately the usage of glitches is bleeding into other SLs.
