A new generation of craftspeople have joined the ranks of some of the oldest luxury workshops in Paris - preserving the techniques that bring haute couture to life. The shoe makers, silk pleaters and hat crafters who supply the handmade luxury pieces for Chanel's Métiers d'Art collection literally hold the future of fashion in their hands.

@@davidsz4055 I'm passionate about the art of handcraft, the things are unique and nearly perfect (the lack of the perfection is actually the most awesome aspect of it); and I think this should keep being passed to the future generations and the art kept alive

The reason there aren't enough young people out there to learn these skills, is because there isn't enough publicity/education about them and not many can afford to live for years paying sky high rents : if the big fashion houses started in the schools with sponsorship and followed through with scholarships, they would INUNDATED with applicants.
Post millenials have a HUGE yearning for learning crafts.
LV have their own school but you're right.
They motivate me even more to pursuing my dreams!🖤

I guess they had already created some portfolios of their work and Chanel wanted to work with them based upon that body of work.

You can change the subtitles to English in the settings. I watched it with English subtitles.
