She tried to get the Nazi`s to get her out of her 10% contract illegally, trying to take advantage of other people suffering, but she failed, some might say haha
That only happened because she was a woman at that time. She didn’t understand the contract and even if she had, it’s not like she had a lot of options. Now with all that said, her being a Nazi gives some poetic justice to the situation. A Jewish family inherited all her wealth.

As a fashion design student back in the early 2010s, Coco Chanel's entrepreneur spirit and design innovations were simply revolutionary to study about during an assignment given to research on famous influential fashion designers of that era to see what they contributed to the fashion scene. .. and after learning about her backstory and her influence to women's fashion to the point of revolutionizing the women's fashion scene and the release from the corset is just awe inspiring to me. Am I ever grateful for her existence and designs cause now the modern women can wear more than tight dresses and corsets! Though I definitely didn't get to get into researching more about the uh, the more mysterious and unsavory things about her life since the focus was about her fashion legacy rather than entire life back then, but it's nice to learn more about things of her as a person beyond her as a fashion designer and entrepreneur, this is neat!
She didn't really do any that shady other than stealing the logo from a very old Roman jeweler (admittedly, so did Cartier, but no patent existed at the time for it). The fact that she "sided" with Nazi Germany is just a reminder that those that knew who was whom in 1930s Europe, knew that by turning against Germany, they would either be siding with the marauding Soviets, or the peace-averse British that were trying to get America involved in the conflicts any cost (Churchill is on record saying that he desired the bombing of London so as to get the USA involved, and refused a total of 13 known peace offers by Italy and Germany... It ought to be remembered that history is written by the victors, and any negative connotation about a given side in a conflict, is likely so because of said victors.

A dead person is not really accountable but we need to know the historical facts. Present day company is also not accountable of past crimes but again history should be remembered. We can’t see Chanel just a fashion icon but there is also that dark past. Somehow dismissing that would be wrong. We can’t separate some part of a person from her politics or other actions. In a more severe scale it would be absurd like remembering Hitler without the war and crimes against humanity. Everyone who was involved with Nazis should be remembered as a person who was involved with them. It is a big stain in a reputation.
Kanye was right…. They siphon her own company out of her own hands. Wow…… if you are to do business, be careful who you work with, and protect your ownership from certain type of people……
There is a lot more to Chanel's "true" story, basically she was an orphaned seamstress, a cabaret girl who got deeply involved with the French aristocrats, the English royals, and the Nazis, (and of course Hollywood after the war, after all Monroe who was the most popular icon of her time made big publicity for the number 5) while getting big profits in wars and becoming an international fashion icon. Her collaboration with Germany earned her more profits while normal people were tried and punished...more incredible than a fairytale, maybe she had a "fairy" godmother or godfather.

The actress in this video portraying Chanel looks like Audrey Tatou. Coco was so smart to design men's suits for women. That time period was torture for women with all those corsets and restraints! Her creations were so liberating! There was a flash of the movie My Fair Lady with Audrey Hepburn! This video just gets more and more interesting!
By the time Chanel was a big name, corsets were already much looser and more flexible, and many women were designing, although the few designers to become internationally famous were men.

I do have sympathy for Chanel she was around and taken advantage of in a male dominated society, yes she also played a game but only to survive, she knew mixing with the rich would get her out of poverty. Also more than a decade out of fashion fleeing to Switzerland like another form of bl00dy lockdown to me. She made alot of sacrifices and deeply cared for women's freedom in fashion going against the norm. Hats off to a talented legend. I don't support her involvement with the Nazis but I respect her passion, tolerance and endurance to persevere through male politics of that time.

Literally anyone targeted by the nazis with a once of privilege/wealth fled lol. And she continued to work the nazies till Germany finally fell.
If we hold Chanel accountable for Coco's actions in WW2, then we should hold IBM accountable for there actions.
@Dakktyrel what actions would that be? Gates is still alive, so anything involving him, should make him accountable.
@@jlr1176 Gates is CEO of Microsoft, Not IBM.
And Siemens in Germany
A dead person is not really accountable but we need to know the historical facts. Present day company is also not accountable of past crimes but again history should be remembered. We can’t see Chanel just a fashion icon but there is also that dark past. Somehow dismissing that would be wrong. We can’t separate some part of a person from her politics or other actions. In a more severe scale it would be absurd like remembering Hitler without the war and crimes against humanity. Everyone who was involved with Nazis should be remembered as a person who was involved with them. It is a big stain in a reputation.
So what are rules of cancelling companies😉
Sounds like she was in a lifetime survival mode.
Exactly.
Unfortunately
Bro who edits these videos? They are like mini movies
"I don't care what you think about me, I don't think about you at all." Ouch!!
Right! Even wealthy professional athletes respect their fan base.
This was so well edited, produced and narrated with such oeuvre and passion! THANK YOU!!! Keep up the inspirational videos MM! x x
they tried to cancel her before cancel culture 😆
But the Americans saved her reputation and glory
Well, you know the American pension for glorifying greed and destroying what is valuable. ….
I can't believe that Pierre swiftly outsmarted Coco
Kanye was right…. They siphon her own company out of her own hands. Wow…… if you are to do business, be careful who you work with, and protect your ownership from certain type of people……
I think your thumbnail should actually be a picture of Coco Chanel... not Audrey Tautou
Hands down the best content on UA-cam! Love your hard work and content.
Your documentaries are soo well done! Griping and moving, excellent music stores too! 😲 ❤ Thank you!
I usually don't comment UA-cam videos, but I love your videos please keep them up!!
The fact he didn't even mention the affair with Stravinsky tells me there might have been way more lovers than he told us here.

who knew one day I would be watching a doc about chanel. which idgaf about, but its so well made. I am hooked haha.
you're like a fish at the end of a fishing line.
Every video you produce, your editing skills go up another 5 notches - the video quality is superb my man, keep pushing. The only thing is that some of those movies you played look quite good and I want to find out what they are haha.
Wow...what a lady! Her link with the Nazi may not be that rare scenario. People in power shake hands behind the public's back. She knew what to do with Gumption. I am happy that she stood up for the comfort for women and started from there. That's a great start in my opinion. Thanks for another beautifully presented story!
I have read that she was a spy.
If you only possessed an ounce of cleverness, you would be obviously aware a personality like Coca's Chanel's would have despised you as rubbish from the 3rd World.
@Jennifer Vu some judge. Some do. Unfortunately to rise to a level one does have to play with the powerful. Or not participate at all...
She came with nothing and made the most of it...
Dealing with Nazi or many dangerous people also puts people at risk. From both sides. Nazi haters. Nazi lovers. You forget or skip the part where she had to support men in power as women were not allowed to have bank account. I say...she did great!
@Jennifer Vu says someone who never create anything
@@chiamakaokoye7069 yeah why then kanye been bashed today for talking about nazi and she literally supported nazi like hugo boss , she was talented but also a greedy human with no morals
This woman is such a legend.
I found one of your videos and since then till this moment I write, Magnatesmedia has been my favourite channel...
Good job👌
You should make one on McDonald’s or Chick-fil-A (I would also like to say that you’re one of the only reasons I get on UA-cam anymore so keep doing it ❤)
Gosh, this woman is a legend.... can't conclude her life only by the brand Chanel.... he experienced and left so much
Great video but Would love to see these videos on Spotify
"I dont care what you think of me, i dont think about you at all!" - Coco Chanel - Wow! this woman is something!
Vile person is she, while Europe was suffering, she was sleeping with the enemy and taking advantage of the situation.
Yes she was. An arrogant one. You f she didn’t think of other people why was she designing clothing for them?
@@P.oliver380 she need to make money

I understand very well it could be for timing reasons, for the video to not be super long, but this is going too fast ! Loved all the research and the information you gave. Super interesting but the voice and the edit made me feel like I was in rush.
Go into the pull down menu and set the replay speed to a slower speed.

Oh what a wholesome thread 😊
I also find his narration far too fast to absorb all the information. So the slower speed option is invaluable!

Great show, mate. Bravo👏🏻
I still love Coco Chanel
She was a business woman who made it work in a mans world. Good for her!
Nazis simps be like…
Many talented men probably floundered because rich female benefactors were few and far between or were dying in the trenches and mines...what's your point?
It's not necessarily any easier for men...(in a "man's world)...

Love Coco Chanel even more! Thanks for sharing
Why did I read this as “The disturbing story of coco melon” 💀
I love Blue De Chanel. So fresh and sophisticated.
Which one
This video uses the footage of the film, ‘Coco Before Chanel’ starring Audrey Tatou, that’s why.
By the time Chanel was a big name, corsets were already much looser and more flexible, and many women were designing, although the few designers to become internationally famous were men.
Thank you for this video and well researched story. I found it so fascinating. You have a new subscriber 😊
Where does the footage for these videos come from? It's very well edited

Never been this early. Keep up the great videos as always!! Love you magnate.
Love your videos but I struggle to watch them because of the flickering in the title scenes. I don't have epilepsy but I can imagine that it may affect people who do

12:39 🤨 as a male who unfortunately gave myself massive sun damage to my skin…tanning… I needed something to apply to my face as sun protectant & a bit to conceal… I remember some of my girlfriends brands such as Bare Mineral …. & over the counter drug store stuff… Two months into stuff/buying… my shade/color became unavailable…
Absolutely nothing to wear… Nothing- Nothing!
I went online to Chanel… there I found all these shades… I zoomed into the color … put the screen 📺 up to my face …; & looked in the mirror 🪞…
Yes my particular shade changed formula which got me very upset 😭 but it still looks great on me… & I still have the buying option…nothing is out… where other labels 🏷 made me feel unwanted/unwelcome…
My skin has never broken out using Chanel…
19:37 I’ll judge Chanel on my availability of my shade…
I’ll judge Chanel on my service w/ them…
If she wanted to be Nazi.. She’d cut out just Menthol cigarettes 🚬 while promoting smoking cigarettes 🚬 are bad…
And now we have those fake chemical perfumes that aren't even made with flowers.
She was a genius.
Lots of women adamantly worked for the SS and were industrious doesn’t mean they’re anything to be respected. Hope she burns in hell
Coco channel was an icon
The rise of any multi billion dollars company or great person always start from a humble beginning, lets be Humble and i know we will rise to amass wealth in life, BUT the most important thing is lets still remain humble even after SUCCESS.
yet, they end up in the hands of "them" who shall not be named.
One only needs to humble them self to the Lord Jesus Christ to be successful!
Hugo Boss made exquisite clothes too.
Great story telling ✅
Yet another interesting documentary with the requisite objectivity. Keep up the great work.
