Sinister Sister No no. That wasn’t a question.
I like how Anna asked how they were backstage. That's as important as the sales pitch.
yea
yea
How they were??
@@tyrellanderson4722 as in their behavior and mannerisms, how they act in front of the panel and Anna herself is one thing because they have eyes on them, how they act in a relaxed state when they aren't being observed by the judges also reflects more about them as creators
"do you make money?"
*awkward laughter*
"no"
*buzzer goes off*
Rude question; I would also say "no" for fear the next question would be "how much." That question is for your account or your investors; not a room full of nosy snots.
None of them are in the black, they're ALL bleeding money.
What? These people are potential investors it's completely understandable that they're interested in how successful your business is financially.
The question was making a point, with all these creations (they doubted it sells) do people demand them? And the answer proved their idea.
Maybe you should express yourself more respectful
Am I the only one interested WHY the model was arrested? (Let's all assume it wasn't the fashion police...)

The dude who lost the model was the best... knew what he was talking about and went straight to the point.

"Which means?"
"Catastrophe."
If her lips pursed at everything Nicki wears then she'll suck them right through her mouth.
I LOVE YOU
I love the Devil Wears Prada!
The shit judges say when they look at collections always sounds insane: "Her outlook on life is exciting but not too challenged, I feel like she understands the cross plains in an alternate universe while maintaining her squares, both intellectually and internationally, which is reflected in the patterns she emulates through flares that show she's lonely and also suffocating in her own creative license." - I'm like what the fuck are you talking about it's just a pair of jeans lol

Only thing interesting about this video was the missing model who got himself arrested.

Same. How do you go outside, probably to smoke a cig, dressed for a fashion show and end up arrested? How much you wanna bet he was a young black male?

i want to be friends with the girl who had the balls to microwave Wintour's coffee and the model guy who got arrested. you know they'd be fun.
Yo for real
Real mood there
About the one that got arrested. Why do people just seek bad people to be friends with.
Maybe it's just me but the way a lot of these people speak is too casual and unprofessional.. "I am hustlin' every day" like wtf? You're really going to say that during a once-in-a-lifetime 5-second pitch to Anna Wintour?
To show off personality? It's not an office interview.
Says someone who says "like, WTF?" - judging what other people say at an interview. Like, you're one of those girls like that literally like say like literally like every time something like unintelligible crawls out of your mouth and pollutes the air.
doppelgangerz lol the most important thing is to be themselves. Why should they change how they talk to impress the judges ? If I were showing my line of clothes I created , I would show and discuss them in the way that I want to present them best.
At least he's showing he has a strong work ethic. I hate his gay moustache though.
They're all just people that just happen to be good at making clothes. There's no reason to treat them like royalty.
LOL everyone had a different opinion but once Anna said her decision everyone was like okay I agree and moved on.
Jamir Blanding and she dresses horribly. She promoted patriarchy and sexism and low self esteem among women for decades. She couldn't draw or make a cloth even if her life depended on it, she doesn't even have enough personality to criticize the powerful and ended up sucking up to the Kardashians (among others), she wears the same haircut, dresses, eye glasses and jewelry since ever but she is supposed to be fashion god 🙄

@@Ema-nt3gp no i dont
@@Ema-nt3gp Being an editor for vogue is sort of like being Walt Disney. He was the idea man, and his job was to approve and move on.
You don't necessarily have to have the skills or talent like the people around you, but you have to have an eye.
Anna Wintour knows what she's doing, and although I don't always agree with her, she's the boss, not me, and not you either.
THE SECOND HAND EMBARRASSMENT IS REAL AF
That Area collection looks beautiful. Edgy but wearable.
I actually thought they liked the collection but had some reservations on the presentation or the commercial feasibility of the whole outfit (pun unintended!). Perhaps the video was kind of edited in a way that didn't quite show us the full picture :)
A year later and they prob wish they had picked them. That style is in and still getting popular
Absolutely, and at least 1 judge,
Von Furstenburg, should have recognized the, albeit gimmicky, mass appeal potential. She seems to have forgotten she made it big also on a gimmicky idea, the wrap dress. They loved Adam but he’s to hipster and quirky to make mass market even with Rihanna as a customer. STAMPD is also a nearly sure bet. The way the designer described it’s broad potential was spot on.
“I could feel the whole doll thing working in Asia”
What are these weird stereotypes 🤨😂
Right?!
I understand that stereotypes can be harmful, but in this case is it so far off the truth? I always thought pale doll-face and elegant, fragile clothing always was really loved in China?
Or I it's really only a stereotype?
@@jocelyn9744 couldn't have said it better!
@@jocelyn9744 it’s a sterotype and a very damaging one you need to go educate yourself

LOL
so what
She probably got fired
Yeah gross huh
Then we see Anna clutching her microwaved coffee later 😭😭😭😂😂😂
To be honest? All of the designs they presented weren't... original? and its just my personal opinion, but they were boring, only maybe some pieces of Ji Oh's collection were nice. I know its an old video, but still, I can remember seen some of those things on the internet years ago and they didn't have their names on it.
I completely agree with this.. in terms of originality, everything seemed very 'grasped' if that makes sense?
I think the fashion industry is even more morally questionable than the movie industry.
It is
Just because fashion isn’t something you’re interested in doesn’t mean you have to discredit those who are
@@Gman1998 but he is right? Even if he isn't interested in it doesn't mean they are all holy Spirits? Just look at coco chanel?? She was a horrible woman

7:18 Anna: “Do you think he could survive?” Such a good question. I love how she has the main priorities straight
The oversetting of the timer is frustrating
I can understand.. not for me, tho
I mean, it's a timed pitch lol
I feel sorry for Ji Oh. She's really not set up to thrive in this kind of western environment, and they BARELY gave her any screen time. As the only asian designer in the crew? I'm questionable on it. There are tons of great asian designers out there. Social prowess as a requirement for success saddens me...
Not so much social prowess, but the ability to present your items to others is REALLY REALLY key when you're a start up. If you can't present and sell your items, why should others invest money on you?
^ Although I agree, I think when it comes to art and design, the work should speak more than the presenter.
saiyukiaoi she needs to work on her nerves and learn how to articulate her creations professionally and clearly. It's not the judges fault if she can't do that simple thing.
yeah your point is cool and all if you are just asking for likes on instagram but right here money is involved! you cant expect people to give a huge amount of money if you dont at least have the confidence to sell your shit, it fashion BUSINESS for a reason. Talent is cheap, everyone's got some talent but hustling and hardwork is what makes successful people.
saiyukiaoi if you don’t do research and don’t prepare a solid pitch you can’t expect sympathy. Sorry but she did a shit job.
I sat next to Wintour and chatted twice at Japanese Restaurants in Manhattan, and she was about as down to earth as anyone. I think she hams it up a bit for the cameras.
You must be hefty rich and pretty important person for fashion industry ( i am only assuming and i could be completely wrong)
@@saumya7922 Not really, it was just a coincidence both times, I guess she also likes Japanese cuisine, but its common to rub elbows with celebs in NY, I've got a hundred boring run-ins.
Interesting. I've watched a lot of her interviews and I often think she seems quite approachable. But then you hear that she hates small-talk., so.....
I actually think she's probably quite shy but comes out of her shell when she feels relaxed and comfortable.
I don't think Adam Selman should of participated because he has Rihanna as a client and on his resume. It wasn't fair and it was not a balanced competition.
stampd is pretty celebrity affliated as well. for example its been worn by kanye.
That does not mean they have the money
It doesn't matter if the designer is celebrity affiliated, it matters whether their clothes are good, are articulate, and are good when it comes to business.

The attitude of these judges is so gross. They are literally laughing at the designers and making fun of them snidely. I hate when people think they are so high up they can treat normal people like this. Snobbery at its finest.
It's despicable behavior but to be honest, they are above "average" people
It also is their job, these designers knew what they were going into before they went in. If they didn’t then they should have
@@w0ry035 yeah but that isnt an excuse to mistreat people
@@quintyheijnen9080 you have to understand, moral standards do not apply when you deal with an upper echelon of celebrity and wealth, morals and values that normal people uphold just don't matter here, it's a different world entirely
JI OH had the best looking clothing she deserved more time lol
I never knew they ask about the attitude in backstage on pitching. The Iranian girls and the struggling guy cheered me up, I'm glad even genuinely nice people are forming the face of this world.
“I don’t have eyesight I have vision”
The devil wears Prada is so accurate
Feels like ji-oh is the only one who couldnt get the chance
Why do they always edit these things to make it sound like everyone is talking smack? Someone might say something simple, but they cut the tape in a way to make it sound mean and short. I want to see the genuine process and feedback of what goes on.

The judges are so friendly but these are the kings and queens of fashion.
" I think Morgan is very quiet but the more you talk to her I think the smarter you can tell she is" as if being quiet or introverted is exclusive to being smart

I think she was trying to compliment her, not berate her introversion. Of course- if someone talks little, people are less likely to know what sort of person they’re like.

It's interesting but cringing to watch the top dogs of fashion (the judges) have little diversity amongst them. It tells alot about accessibility within the fashion industry: it's a dominant white world.

why not?

Like u r judging the designs based on quality and creativity.. there's no need to come up with that stupid commercial comments.... Darian Sandmartin
Batoul Asd well, fashion exists to make money for designers. All those judges will grant a sum of money toa designer what will be able to multiply it So there can be revenue and expanding. Thus it's crucial to make commercial comments.
