Judy is a queen. I wish they would post more construction/atelier vids. Primarily to give us a look at those mad MQ skills, but also so everyone can see and appreciate the labour that goes into all handmade garments; they might understand their value and think twice about buying disposable garbage. Wishful thinking, I know.
P Wallace OP wasn’t snooty in any way. She means fast fashion, plastic (polyester) clothes. It really is all disposable garbage that’s wrecking our planet. The textile trade is one of the top contributors to pollution worldwide. We all need to stop buying fast fashion immediately; it’s not a class thing, it’s a save the planet thing.
As a fashion design student I find this so beautifully encouraging in it's sheer simplicity. You don't need hypey gimmicks, expensive hardware or flashy fabrics to make something so beautifully astonishing. She just took the material and sculped away, she let the fabric speak for the garment in it's different characteristics and to me, that is where the work of true masters like her really shines.
@@pwallace5359 Well thank you very much :). These kind words are the ones that drive creation especially in these times of isolation. Stay safe out there!
This is the most genius piece of cutting and sewing I've ever seen, what incredible skill. Please more of these videos, absolutely wonderful to see the process.
This isn’t couture. Literally or technically. This is an entirely different skill set and process from couture. Not saying this is bad, they certainly get and A- for effort, but it’s not even close to couture. It’s just different.
Non fashion people do not know just how much of what you see in the shows is due as much ( if not more ) to the talent of people like Judy than the designers themselves. I did this job for years and always had appreciative designers, working in couture, creating, pinning and making the impossible possible ,, I miss the challenge. It was Nothing to make dresses with 60 metres of silk ,,
I can't explain the feeling of joy it gives me to see something so beautiful come to life like this. Thank you Judy for your work and talent and please please post more of these insights.
I love how detailed the steps are in this video. I’m only 5 years into the craft and obviously have no where near these artists skill but it’s so inspiring to me that all these little steps that are pretty easy to learn but difficult to accomplish perfectly can go into creating something so intricate. It gives me hope that with enough continued practice, I could create something half as beautiful someday. Those skirt roses though... phew! Thats all trained eye and years of skill... just purely masterful.
I'm sure it must have been easy to get lost in all that fabric while trying to construct the garment with no flaws and a perfect symmetry. I'm advanced in sewing skills and I probably would've failed in the making of such a dress. You Ma'am have my respect !
@@pippa1515 dam you don't have to apologize. ..I was gonna go in to a spiel on how we have to celebrate these skill showcase it more highlight how prestigious it is , ya know instead of calling them sewers, but I lost my chain of thought ... I'm not telling you off , I'm nobody important 😊
If I was going to buried I’d want it to be in this magnificent rose dress. Red is my favorite color. Dark red. Color of blood. Color of life. Simply magnificent. Brava!!!
My version of heaven we are all dressed by Ms. Hail & associates. Sitting around in fancy clothes drinking tea from spectacular China cups & munching on madeleines while discussing great literature & clothing periods. Lol. Fantastic. You are all wildly talented. Thank you all so much for sharing!!!
This is absolutely incredible. Please share more of this type of video. It's so inspiring for small designers like myself to see what goes into bringing these amazing designs to life. Love it 😍
Judy your a master genius at work that is just one stunning dress 👗 it was fantastic to watch you construct it from start to finish thank for sharing 🤗
Amazing that the designer draws this and gets all the credit. And this amazing seamstress works super hard and perfectly expertly sews this art into life. Yet I've never heard of her. In my opinion these people are the true artists. Designers are just figure heads.
I know nothing of fashion....dont sew clothes....dont wear dresses....but wow!!! this is stunning!!!! loved watching the creative process here.....great job! very talented crew there
Judy, you have both my respect and envy for your superior construction/atelier skills. Your calmness speaks for the years of experience you have acquired. You're one of the very few people with this ability including working in a very demanding high pressured environment. It's wonderful to see.
An ABSOLUTE work of art - your hard time consuming attention to detail is so very worth it! We get to see the beautiful benefits of your strong attention to perfection … thankyou! 🎉👏❤️🔥🎊
Hands down this is so incredible! The entire process is tricky to begin with specially the assembling of the rose part. It takes so much experience and careful precision to be able to produce a wearable art! ❤
The amount of fabric used. The work the hours. Amazing. I am rediscovering my hobby of sewing. Just making my own clothes, There is no way I'll be able to make something like this. Huge respect to them. This is stunning.
Fabulous artistry and skills. You people behind the scenes are the real magicians who make the fabric beautiful. Your work is seldom seen but wonderful to watch.
Such patience, skill and passion! Amazing and beautiful! Thank you for sharing...its such a pleasure and privilege to watch an artist at work. I agree with others comments- a master creating a masterpiece😘🥰❤️

I absolutely adore this dress and Judy. I re-watch this video a lot. It is the most amazing dress to watch being made. Such an inspiration! I've probably commented on this video before, so thank you again for posting this. Incredible!!
This dress took 3 weeks, countless hours of many talented individuals and beautiful high quality fabric. Yet, someone would say "make dress for me for $20". Smh.
I get this Every. Day. And I'm just an everyday Tailor, dabbling in the *occasional* bespoke piece because I have zero patience for, "You want HOW MUCH ?! It's JUST a simple (insert ridiculously complicated whatever here)!!"
tell em "you can't afford my dress". haha...i hate it when people tell me to hem their jeans or shorten their dress. dude...i'm not here to fix shit. im here to create and you can't afford my creations because my time is worth more.
“i hope you like it” 😂 are you kidding? it’s a masterpiece!!
AH! YESSSSSS! A MARVEL! ONE OF THE MANY WONDERS OF THE WORLD!
Hhhhhhh exactly ,how humble

True
Imma Moodypersongenerallyspeaking , wow that sounded snooty. “Disposable garbage”. You mean the clothes us peasants wear?
Adjust stick in arse as required.

Yes dear, because we can ALL afford McQueen clothes.
"And I hope you like it"
I love it a lot ... 😍😍🤩🤩
This is a master piece, wow so much work. It was worthed.
I repeated “ hope you like it?!?“ right after her. It’s absolutely stunningly gorgeous piece of art 🥰😆🌹

Do you like Iris Van Herpen's work. I find it to be quite stunning.
Im a fashion design student as well and dudd your so right the way its made is beautiful
Danish fashion designere here as well
That was insane! How in the world she makes that masterpiece is beyond me. Volumes of fabric, stitches here and there and then...a masterpiece!
True! Pattern cutters and seamstresses are so under the radar! And her humbleness makes it even more appreciative!

I see Lee's living spirit in that dress!
This whole collection reminded me so much of Lee. He would be proud!

Someone needs to wear this on the red carpet. Its just beautiful.
If I had this dress I'd never take it off, seriously!
Hmm, if you wore this dress on the red carpet, you would not stand out.
Please post more of these! 🙌🏻😍💥
You hope I like it?? Oh sweet dear, we LOVE IT. Your humbleness just made this more endearing. The talent!!!

these sewers are geniuses! Lee McQueen was so right by seeing them just as important as himself and his work.
Atelier are more than sewers. We need young people to realize how important this work is,
Tui Hunter i apologize if I forgot to mention certain atelier-workers, I only wanted to honor all the constructors not just the creative directors.

This is one of the most McQueen-esque pieces ever. Lee would be proud ♡
All I can think to say is WOW!!!!
Oh she makes it look so easy! I just love that no fancy machines were used.
All hail McQueen and his team! One of the best to ever do it.

Woman has the patience of a saint & the skill of years of hard work. She doesn’t have a magic wand but a magic needle. More please.
