Man, I've struggled so much with building custom stations that actually works. And I haven't found any tutorial. Thnx so much for this - I'm baffled that the solution is so simple :)
This is an perfect tutorial for making the custom stations in Cities Skylines. I have tried multiple times previously, with no success. Now, I can do it! Thanks! Keep the tutorials coming. You are the master of multi-level city building without a doubt.
Hi, 1. Thank you very much for this tutorial. 2. I'm actually satisfied with the myriad of passenger train station on the workshop. I am not, however, satisfied with the freight stations there, and would like to make custom ones. Could you please also explain how to apply this method to cargo train stations? Thanks again.
The maximum length of any network is 32 units or 256 meters. You can also use Node Spacer by Quboid (I think) to create these long segments. The Minimum for a full-sized train is 18 units or 144 metres. If you have tracks with bypasses or dual islands, you should go a little longer, maybe 160 metres or 20 units. The longest train I know of on the Workshop is Meshd's 9 car class 345, at over 200 metres. I also think you can use invisible paths for the platform accesses but I am unsure if the pedestrians can jump from one bridge to another. I will have to do some testing. I have built several custom stations before and it seems to work fine with invisible paths which are at platform level. Also the station is elevated. EDIT: Pedestrians can't jump from one path to another.
Im not sure all pink pedestrian paths break when editing/switching out the tracks. Atleast this is my experience from trying to replace some of the rail with metro on the vanilla 12 track through station. I did use the "touch this" mod for editing the built in networks so its possible that is softer on the pink pedestrian paths but i dont know how to verify this hypothesis.
Around 17:00 you say that if you do any changes to the elevated metro station like moving the station track with move it, it will become nonfunctional because the pink invisible paths break. Before I found this video, I did basically the opposite of what you did. I converted a train station to metro. But it worked for me without having to re-place an invisible path. Here are my steps: 1. Place an elevated train station from the workshop. 2. Use Network multitool to unlock the station track. 3. Bulldoze the train station track. 4. Build an elevated metro station track in roughly the place where the train station track was. This created two segments, so I deleted one and moved the remaining segment around a bit until it was roughly in the spot where the train station track was. 5. Create a metro line using that station. Citizens just used that station.
12:40 You can actually get the ped paths to connect without having to bulldoze it. Just use Moveit to move the connecting node up. If it snaps or jumps to a different height, it's connected.
I tried for ages to build a metro hub in the asset using the base game train station, but always struggled with either the pedestrian paths or station tracks. I should have used the find it mod, but wasn't aware of the distinction between station tracks an normal tracks. I eventually gave up when I started seeing some whacky behaviour in the assets I was creating, and just downloaded mom.
Great information, thank you! brb going to try the same technique on rail freight stations, I use trains for the workshop that are too long and will cause problems at the end junctions. This could cure everything!
Just wondering: if I just lay down station track without any pedestrian connections, will Cims still alight there? I’m thinking of using station tracks as overrun /reversing sidings to turn trains around for the railway network in my city, and I don’t want Cims to be trying to get off the train at these sidings.
At minute 1.20 what mod is that -that shows all roads in one bunch rather than having to click on each line ie...I have a single line that I have to click on each road type for them to open up. It would be easier to see them all at once. Nice vid. Thank you.
I wonder whether it's easier to just use the asset editor for building your custom train station? Or do you have to do the same crazy stuff there? 15:!9 "It would be really nice if I could somehow use them [the elevated metro stations] for example for the ordinary trains or even make some custom tram tracks go through them." - I've asked (on one of the videos these stations were presented) and was told that (at least between trains and metro) this works with the Metro Overhaul Mod. Not sure about trams/monorails.
@@Akruas Awesome. Now I've finally decided, that I'll keep that piece of my city, that looked so horrible until now. And maybe one day I'll make a custom station
is there any way to use custom stations for intercity transit? i tried several methods like putting a trackless station building near to the tracks but nothing seems to work
Hi Akruas, tried with the cargo rail and broke it, trucks still arrived but took their loads away again. Had to delete the cargo station and replace it. Is there some secret formula different to the passenger stations? I was using the cargo station track.
I've got a strange bug, maybe you have encountered you too considering how many custom station you have build. I've build a custom station, really simple only one station track and one train line, but trains randomly spawn not only in that track, but in another near non custom station. With a crazy angle and they block everything. Don't know what is the solution
what is the easiest way to just add additional entrances from the side of the glas box transport hub (from the train stations creator pack)? I want to add a pedestrian bridge to the end of the platforms, so people can also enter from there, but leave the rest like it is. is it possible to just add a path to the end of the platform?
hi! I was wondering if anyone could help figure out why I can't connect lines for these custom trains, I followed this tutorial to make my custom station but upon creating train lines it won't work unless I shorten the station length, I'm trying to get 26u station to work (I know the game hates long stations lmao) but it seems the limit should be 32u and yet my station doesn't work? Edit : I just tried with 24u length and it works fine, try 25u and it just doesn't want to connect any train lines :c guess I can't use any 11 car passenger trains

I haven't been able to connect pedestrian paths and underground station tracks in-game, but you could always make the "underground" station track just surface type but sunken and detail around it.
Please please please tell me the mod that removes shawows from terraformed roads. Also want to tell u that limit on length of station tracks is 200m or 25 units of grid
Now I get it why my stations didnt work. I elongated tracks to accomodate my long trains. Also now I also understand why platform near to road worked and sometimes when I accidentally connected like u have shown made middle platform work. Thanks, for telling me I thought its a bug and had to give up on railways and the game. Now I am going to reopen that save. Thank u so much
After 3000+ hours in CS there aren't many tutorials that teach me new things, this was one of them. Great content!

Interesting, i have always wanted to build a canary wharf DLR and Berlin Central station for light rail and Trams, thanks!

I'll be making a Tokyo inspired city next, so this will come in handy when trying to build stations like Shibuya.

how do you make them able to jump from one platform to another?
Total game changer! Just built my first custom station today!

Good to know that NMT works like that. Thanks.
Amazing tutorial. Thank you for putting this together.
Wow, this is extraordinary. I did not know you can do such things
Never really knew how to do that. Very nice tutorial, very useful
Thanks, dude!
Absolutely brilliant. Thank you very much. Finally I know how to make propper elevated stations in my city

That´s why I love CS - After 6 years there´s still something to learn :D Thanxalot Akruas
Nice tutorial ! Love it ! I have a request for a custom functional airport !
Thanks! Learned a lot. Still waiting for your PO class!

Hope same will be applied for cargo station tracks
I’ve always wanted to break the train behaviour all at once…
is there a counterpart for monorails? i want to make custom monorail over road stations :(
Hey make a tutorial on making custom subway stations.
What a nice explanation. Very pedagogic :) Thank you !!

than you so much! Every day we discover something new in this game! I'm amazed!

is it also possible to let intercity trains hold on custom station tracks??
By the way you can press the home button next to the page up and down button to reset the elevation to zero.
Nice one!
omg thx for guide on how to connect the ped path!
Wonderful Tutorial. Thank you! Keep up the good work!
The system is giving people much freedom! Just a little complicated though.

For the last station, do i only have to build a path for the added metroline or for all the trainlines aswell?
Hello "game changer"! This is AWESOME! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Cool. Which mod gets rid of the shadows on the surface? I have that problem in one of my cities, and it's really ugly

I believe the limit is 30 units for train stations.
Super useful video. Thank-you very much !
I wonder if this can be used to build underground tram stations like on Boston's Green Line 🤔
Highly useful tutorial!
A very interesting tutorial, thanks a lot 👍

Might answer that ua-cam.com/video/fiFMuRbqpEc/v-deo.html
Really helpful. Thanks so much :)
can I do it for island platforms?
You can do it for everything.
how do you get around the no depots issue? custom train stations don’t count as depots and thus can’t spawn trains so how do you solve that?
ua-cam.com/video/fiFMuRbqpEc/v-deo.html

How to choose a train to use at the custom station?
A great tutorial, for something I have been looking to do for a while.
One question, can this be used to make underground train stations?
I haven't been able to connect pedestrian paths and underground station tracks in-game, but you could always make the "underground" station track just surface type but sunken and detail around it.
For the Train stations: How do you allow Intercity Trains on them?
I don't, I have train stations right at the border of the map so every train is line.
@Akruas i thought you could make a line directly to the outside connection no? or do you still need a vanilla station for trains to spawn?
hey, can this tecnique be used to connect two metro stations with an undergrownd pedestrian path between them?
No
You could use Clus FTP metro asset, where you place a metro station, an entrance and connect them via paths
Fantastic video👌👏
For the metro-to-rail station, doesn't MoM mod do that?
I don't have mom so don't know, but the point here is that you can convert anything to anything else, even into bus station if you wanted to.
@@Akruas that's a good point and if people don't want to get another mod this shows them how to do it themselves. Fair enough. :)
Does replacing tracks with RON destroy pink paths?
During placement no, not sure about changing in existing station.
can these stations take intercity trains?
how to add those many tipes of railways track?
Is it possible to create custom metro stations in a similar way to this?
There is no way to connect custom paths to underground segments afaik
How can you prevent Cims from crossing the track to get to the opposite platfrom?
Use two single tracks.
Please please please tell me the mod that removes shawows from terraformed roads.
Also want to tell u that limit on length of station tracks is 200m or 25 units of grid

How can we switch on international trains though?
The limit for longer stations is 176 metres or 22 squares
does this work for outside/tourist trains ?
don't know, I don't use intercity trains
What is the mod called that you mentioned in 14:26?
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2474567113
It's just too bad it's not possible to Simply select which types of tracks you want in each building..
Hmm i knew this but i always use props and hidden paths, so i skip the first step
time to go break my entire transit network
What about cargo?
what is the topo?
Uhhhhhh vanilla custom train stations?
👍
Can I do it in xbox edition of cities skylines.
No
i just cant connect the ped path to the station track tto save my life, there has got to be a better way....
First
Good 4 u
