Evan ran sound for us at this great little venue in Montclair. We hung out a bit, and he handed us a tape of Pinegrove. We loved it. They were scheduled to play with us at The Keys, but something happened.
Watching this in 2024 - Pinegrove has been my favorite band since I heard of them in like 2018 and I can’t believe I’ll never get to see them live 😢😢😢 I PRAY Evan will start a new project soon, I will quit my job and follow this band across the world if they tour again
This is one of the best recorded live performances I've ever seen. Not only are Pinegrove the best, most talented band on earth, but the way this is shot and the way it captures the emotion and the magic of the room -- wow. Thanks Cemetery Tapes, your work is incredible!
I agree. I don't think I've ever seen a UA-cam video of concert footage that accurately captures the energy of the environment quite like this video. Kudos!
This video has changed my direction musically in so many ways, I can't help but be incredibly grateful for Cemetery Tapes and Pinegrove and this unreal crowd. I will come back to this video for the rest of my life.
I started crying about halfway through the first song. Such an incredibly talented and amazing human beings. They deserve the world and I hope they get it.
While in jail I was reading the newspaper... a spot on south by southwest music fest in Austin tx. The author really intrigued me when they described these badasses here so when I got out I looked them up. Love their music
I don't know if it is possible to fully describe how phenomenal this performance is. All the nuances between the Evan and the band, between the band and the crowd, just all of it. And the pure musicianship. This feels like a spiritual experience every time I watch it.
Saw them in Edinburgh a few months ago and the crowd was loud then too. Guess this band has a fanbase that's incredibly in love with their music. Such a good live band
The set list is described below (because I can't access the TimeStamp written at description I don't know) I love pinegrove from jpn 1:18 - Old Friends 5:20 - Aphasia 11:34 - Visiting 15:41 - Over My Shoulder 20:13 - V 25:11 - Waveform 31:15 - Angelina 33:20 - Easy Enough 36:05 - Cadmium 40:33 - Size of the Moon 46:03 - Patterson + Leo 48:47 - Problems 50:26 - Need 2 54:48 - The Metronome 1:01:07 - Recycling 1:06:41 - New Friends
i am so grateful to have stumbled across pinegrove. no one can put my emotions in words such as this. i’ve had my first and worst breakup, but pinegrove had my back. i will forever listen to this. keep making music that inspires us and keeps us going.
this is my most watched UA-cam video along with Bon Iver NPR gig. Why are there not more like this? It’s absolutely class. Everyone is singing and knows the words. Hope Dublin is like this in March 2020.
This video is magical. I put it on when I feel lonely and without fail it comforts my spirit. I can feel the energy from the band and the crowd no matter how many times I’ve watched it. Somehow the crowd singing along makes the songs better when normally I just want to hear the band. Love love love Pinegrove
Rests come in handy for adding more emotion into a important part of the song they use it a lot he also does it in the alarmist. But he’s a master of song writing so he knows exactly where to put them and make the song ten times better
I was living in East Lansing in 1992-1994 and there was a decent scene back when live music thrived there. Old Friends reminds me of when the Verve Pipe would play "The Freshman." This crowd could be more juiced but just reminded me anyway....I really love seeing the kids get into music that's just fun. They will never forget this moment.
As a lifelong Philadelphian...... yes...... we are just as passionate and intense when it comes to music as we are with sports. Just an all around insanely intense city when it comes to things we love.
I've been getting pretty down lately. Fortunately, there is pinegrove in this world to help me make sense of everything. I love how much everyone at this show seems to be enjoying themselves. Makes me feel good.
I'm here again. This is top five of live performances here on UA-cam. The others: Margaret Glaspy - Tiny Desk Andersson Paak - Tiny Desk Wilco - Sydney Opera house and ofcourse Queen fom Live Aid
WOWW!! I thought the crowd kinda knew the lyrics but they know them well enough to almost freak him out 😄👍❤ Never saw a sing along like this! 🤯 Mind blowing!! Pooff!!
i really like how honest, respectful, peaceful, emotional, passionate and caring Evan and the band all are :) warms my heart. oh and did i mention talented too?
I soo wish i saw them live when nandi was in the band still, not that ive ever seen them live yet but they had some pure magic when she did the back up vocals 😍 ofc they are still amazing tho, but feels like it was something really special back then!!
I went to see them in Phoenix over a year ago. It was an amazing show. It was a small venue and afterwards I bought their LP and I met Stephens. He talked to me and hugged me and ever signed my record. He’s such an awesome dude. It crazy to see how big they e gotten.
it literally
sounds like everyone in the crowd knows all the words. great stuff.,
pretty sure this was the best night of my life
James Barrett would have loved to have been there man

same!
You sir are so so very lucky
I’m so jealous
I love that they start with "old friends" and end with "new friends"
just like the album
Yeah, that's how it is with the album. It's honestly so good.
It's funny because in life you start with new friends and end with old friends
@@iletyoucallmestevesy not when you're in the bridge burning business
Still watching this in 2020. And it still cracks me up when I hear the guy in the crowd say "I got handed molly by the girl over there!".
When is this please lmao

That’s what I’m sayin
Aww man just learning they aren't together from this comment
A Pinegrove show is like whatever the exact opposite of a funeral is. So triumphant!
Well the opposite would be a birth lol
birth is the opposite of death though
A baby shower, then
Kellen A funeral is not death. Death is death. A funeral is the celebration of & farewell to a dead person.
Hats off to that crowd man
So respectful but great energy 👌👌💯💯
Philly crowds are always like that ❤ Esp at first unitarian
its always exciting to find a band that makes you feel that certain type of way

For real thank you
Nailed it - the songs are great, the crowd energy gives me chills.
Agreed! I gotta thank that person with the camera strapped to their chest.
makes me so happy to see that Evan still has the pin I handed him at a show in December on his guitar strap :')
Mary A where? Didn’t see it. Yet, only half way through.
Psi Regulator there’s literally 3 pins on his guitar strap 😂
awwwwwww that's adorable 😭
This video has changed my direction musically in so many ways, I can't help but be incredibly grateful for Cemetery Tapes and Pinegrove and this unreal crowd. I will come back to this video for the rest of my life.

You can tell everyone got into Pinegrove from their AudioTree Session haha.
Evan is pure, unbridled talent. This is amazing. Can only imagine how it felt to be there!

Good job to the cinematographer/editor to give this nice performance a wonderful film look.

The energy from this performance just jumps right out of the screen. So touching
I keep UA-cam open and listen to this in my car, at the gym, and everywhere. Literally my favorite live performance video of all time.
Damn they are good live, but what a dream crowd for a concert!!
this videos home. something to come back to.
