Sportster No Spark. (FIXED)Tried everything? Watch this before buying parts

- Had a no spark issue, traced down everything, and nothing seemed to work. Finally after digging and digging in the internet, and chasing a wiring diagram for this bike. I reset the bank angle switch, and boom fired right up. This is simple and easy, so please eliminate this before you start throwing money at parts!
A lot of others have had success with just cycling the key on and off 5 times.
There is a video out there talking about ohming your coil… don’t follow that if you have dual fire!!!

If you guys have any questions about this, and how to test ignition module and coil pack, and switch, let me know. You would be surprised how easy this thing is to trigger.

@@serviceproper sorry for being late, yes. Then you will be able to cycle they codes and setting on the little screen on the odometer, using the button on the back of the odometer, this is for 04s up. 03s will do the same, but the no codes.
The ignition on the side when the key goes in.

It’s baffled me for months, searched every video, every forum, after getting a schematic of the bike from Harley, is when I found it.
So it should help it reset to have the battery connected and charged full when doing this right ?

Damn. I replaced my coil and plugs for nothing. I turned in on and off 5 times....waited a minute and it fired up....who knew..lol....thanks a bunch
I tried to make this video so people didn’t do that. Same here buddy. It happens, and I could find nothing on UA-cam or google about this issue.
that is computer technology for ya. should have stuck to the old ways. no computer, no fuel injected, carb works the best. only thing you have to warm up the bike before you take off.
Same here, new everything did nothing for 3 weeks, found this video the bike starts right away… mine its a sportster 06 XL 883 so yeah it worked

That’s exactly what it was. Too bad I didn’t see this video before I bought the dang ignition module. But I could have sworn it wasn’t blinking before I bought it. At least I didn’t install it
I can appreciate your video and it's purpose. But man, you could have held the camera a bit better so we could see what the module looks like!
Brother I’m a hillbilly from Tennessee. This video was for that sorry somebitch that got tired of kicking the shit out of his Harley, and hopefully saved for redneck from buying a Honda.
Also, you could have just told everyone here you’ve never worked on these modules…. Because you would know how simple the wiring is on ALL Harleys…. So prob should change your channel name to brokenbikes. 🖕

Thanks but have an - ? is your bike fuel injected or Carb bc never knew an angle sensor would be on an Carb bike 03 or less bc iam have same no spark issue on my 2000 carb 1200 ...Thanks
New:
*battery
*crank sensor
*coil
*new earth on battery
Cleaned ignition switch
Checked fuel tap, gets fuel
Checked spark with spark tester, no spark
Checked main ignition circuit breaker , 12v

Reading this at work… I’ve replaced fuel, plugs, fuses, filters, oil, battery, etc… I’m gonna be so pissed and so relieved if this is my issue. My first motorcycle. Bought a very well taken care of sportster 1200 custom for $500 and am really trying my best to do any work on it myself… will report back.

My 98 lost spark yesterday. Gonna try this when I get home. Now when you say turn the switch 5 times do u mean the key itself or the on off switch on the handle
Wouldn’t worry about the switch on the 98, it don’t have a computer. But def check that switch! Take it off, and reattach it while the bike is straight up, not on the kickstand. Also check and see if you have a kickstand switch, I believe those years did, my 01 didn’t

Got a 01 sporty 883 hugger. Changed coils, spark plugs, spark plug wires, hell even changed the damn starter relay. Imma give this a try
Did it work? I also have an 883 01 hugger, it fell on the right side 3 months ago and all of a sudden it didn‘t fire up anymore, just a few weeks ago. I tested my coil, it said 2.6 ohms and something above 10.000 ohms, so it should be fine. I’m gonna give this a try
I have lost spark on the front cylinder but not on the back. Just happened today 😔 any guesses???
That’s strange, try new cables and spark plugs. Maybe one got fucked up 🤷🏻♂️
Have a 01 sportster, running on 1 cyl intermittently, ?. Took 2 del. Waste if time. They don't like working on older bikes.
I had spark and now no spark, this could be it. As well starter switch not working but I can jump the solenoid at the starter relay. When I turn the motor I have abnormal fuel going into front cylinder and going out exhaust.
Won’t be starter switch as this issue it will try and start the bike aka turn over but never fire.
Had the same thing, you could smell the un burnt fuel coming from the pipes and I had straight pipes. Def a no spark issue
I took that peice off n it has a rattling sound can something be loose in there

This won’t be it. This is a zero spark malfunction.
Where does the grey wire go to on the bank angle sensor?
To your ignition and coils, grey I think to switch, black or blue to coil. This is why you might be showing a dead coil. I watched all the UA-cam videos on how to test a coil, and both of mine failed. They both ran just fine after this. If it’s a dual fire like this bike, there is one way to test if coil is bad, unplug a lead, does it arch? Unplug both feeds to coil, get them close together but don’t touch, do they arch? Yes-bad coil, no, something pre ignition
One of my plugs is black and 01 Softtail smoking a little ,bad coil?
What color smoke? Black plugs and black smoke is normally too rich condition "putting too mucb fuel into the ratio. Need to adjust your carb. Blue smoke is oil, congrats you own a Harley, they all burn a little lol

I’ve made zero with this video. I can’t turn off ads, trust me I tried. I just don’t want others to suffer the same pain as I did. Took me 6 months for a 6 minute fix. Best believe I was pissed.
