gear does not matter in pvp, ususally its pretty balanced, you just played at a time where there was a insane bug in the game. the bug allowed you to craft insane auto rifles that shoot like 13 bullets at a time like a shotgun. or craft shotgun granade launchers ect
8:01 - I can't stand youtubers / streamers who can't check game settings BEFORE stream/recording..... what is wrong with ppls? can't you go to settings before starting game - or if in main menu u can't go to settings then start game and go to settings then? WHY u complaining while it is your ignorance here.
The Craftening, Imagine someone started playing the game believeing that it's just how Destiny is with no idea that it was a bug or how they could get to that power level lol
Spot on! I am a veteran player and I tried so hard to bring my friends with me in Destiny. The HUD menus puzzle, the expensive DLCs and having problems telling them what to get first, made all of them quit in the first hours. It is incredible how obvious these issues are, for years, and Bungie doesn't do anything about it. But you were on the spot!
Many challenges in games like this, including MMOs, stem from the limitations of players' curiosity. If someone prefers a more guided experience, they may not fully appreciate the game's depth. This is also why older MMOs often develop devoted cult followings. Players invested time in exploring game zones and content, relishing the process of discovery. Overcoming obstacles led to a more enduring sense of enjoyment.
Honestly Shadowkeep and Beyond Light should be like $10. Witch Queen should be $25 and Lightfall being $50 is fine right now since its the newest expansion. All of the other DLC should be free. The forsaken pack and 30th anniversary pack are dumb and it just confuses players. So many players just quit after looking at the expansions and other DLC. As a veteran I know what i'm getting, but new players have no clue and the game doesn't really tell you a whole lot. Now to be fair some of the complaints players have are so dumb. Like why was he complaining about SMS being required?? Thats a good thing lol. It sucks we need it, but it's to help prevent cheaters. How does he not know that crucible=pvp. Crucible is an extremely common term. Honestly the biggest roadblock is not having an in game LFG yet. Once that gets added next season it will help a ton cause most players just quit cause they don't know how to group up and there isn't a global chat.
@@IL_Bgentyl Theres no depth in destiny 2 lol...the contents are so limited after you reached the endgame. The biggest depths are the menu inside menu inside another menu.
I was just thinking about this game. I played it a few years ago and every time I think about coming back, it feels like it’s not worth it because I’ve already missed so much. I feel so bad for new players lol
definitely not worth it. i came back after long time and paid yearly for lightfall and its such a rip off. witchqueen was great and raids are the best thing about this game but narrative recently has been dogshit especially on how bad lightfall writing has been. even after paying so much u still need to shell more in game microtransactions to get cooler cosmetics
Coming from someone who used to play this game religiously, everyday after school with my mates online, this was very nostalgic to watch. I remember the awe and absolutely blown mind I had when I first used my Golden Gun and felt like a literal god. The story and gameplay's satisfaction was nothing compared to Cayde's introduction, and demeanour, and instantly became a hero and favourite to me and my friends. I remember getting my first exotic weapon - the Suros Regime - and even though it wasn't as good as my current (non exotic) weapons, I would flaunt it off to my fellow guardians. I miss playing hide and seek in the Tower with my mates, hiding behind the fan in that glitch spot, or climbing through the vents to that secret room in the ship hangar. Experiencing Cayde's death always stuck with me and my group, and we would talk about it and the game constantly and it would dominate our conversations at school. I remember the first time I completed the story, and my first thought wasn't "well, time to find another game", and instead spawned back at the Tower, did my 'flip the table' emote, create another class and do the whole damn journey again! I remember grinding the hell out of Gambit with my friends, waiting for that one boss to spawn, in order to obtain the Malfeasance, and when the boss finally spawned, the opposing team would win, and we wouldn't get the gun. I remember watching videos on The Last Word - the ultimate yeehaw hand cannon - and thinking 'I HAVE to get that', getting it, spawning into the crucible and getting absolutely destroyed. But, I was the one with the cowboy gun, having the most fun, while also having the most deaths and least kills ;) I remember when I first laid eyes on the Ace of Spades, the hand-cannon wielded by my (then) hero - Cayde-6 - and feeling like it was the biggest honour in the world that I could experience. I remember watching Mr Fruit test out ridiculous loadouts and tactics, watching Hush and his montages and him trying to get the god-roll Hawkmoon. I miss those days. I haven't played the game for maybe 4 years, and don't know if I want to return to it. Mostly because I don't want to start up the game again, and see my long abandoned Exo Hunter, and dislike the game I spawn into. I don't want to spawn into the Tower, only to see the lack of Guardians, and the lack of dancing, the loss of players trying to spawn in the Traveller balloon that would bounce and fly over the heads of those below.
This was a great video. As a long time Destiny player I can definitely say this was spot on. I wish Bungie would explain to new players that raids and dungeons are puzzles needing to be solved.
They need to simply remove the puzzles, dungeons and raids are hella annoying to even play. Which is why less than 5% of players completed a raid. Puzzles stay in mobile games.
Tbf, People who come in as last as now wouldn't really understand the magic of how the D1 Raids were brought in, Them not explaining it and you figuring it out is just something everyone enjoyed back then. I can understand why people think just being told what to do may be better but when your in a Team and try to figure out the Mechanics is just a Feeling that's so good to do. I guess maybe if there was a Option for New Players to either Learn the Mechanics or Go in blind may be nice... But if this ever becomes implemented, it would have to be for Raids that have been out for Full Year, just to allow people to keep the fun of "Figure the Mechanics out" feeling. But yeah, other then that, I do understand their point. But the best way rn and probably should stay like this is Looking up a Raid Guide on UA-cam.
Literally every time I return to Destiny 2. Install game, hyped to play. Logs into previous character, instantly overwhelmed and unsure what to do. Creates new character, realizes that there's so much content that it literally causes me to lose interest and quit.
I feel bad for new and returning players who get overwhelmed. Game is so much fun when you understand the basics. New-player experience is just terrible
it takes some effort to understand but from my experience once I finally started to understand how the game works then it became one of my favorite games of all time.
I quit after forsaken, then tried to get back in during beyond light. I didn't really like the story of BL so i stopped playing again for also the same reasons as you, being very overwhelmed and not understanding all of the changes. But I tried once more towards the end of witch queen and been playing since. They improved a lot of things I think and made it more clear at least compared to then. And all of the rpg theorycrafting stuff is much better which keeps me interested in the gameplay.
I'm kind of the opposite. I try to play and realize there's nothing to do except the same few strikes and Raids on repeat. It's the same events on almost every planet. I don't PvP and Gambit doesn't interest me because it's just repeating the same thing over and over. Gotta pay a bunch to get current content which means every time I hop back on I'm doing old content trying to figure out if I want to shell out money and I just stop. Destiny is a smooth shooter, but that's it. It only just finally got some good armor and skill mechanics but it was too little too late. Interested to see Destiny 3 but I doubt I'll get into it. Depends on how much they change and innovate.
Based on your first PvP game i'd assume you played when there was a massive weapon crafting bug happening, which would explain why that guy was one shotting you lol
I put a lot of time into Destiny 2. Even more into Destiny 1. Awesome to see someone play for the first time. Makes me miss it and brings me back to the first Vault of Glass Raid. It would be hard for someone to jump in this late in the game, which I think is it's biggest problem. Nice to see you had a good time. Gunplay is second to none.
as a d2 player since launchd day, don't let this game take your soul. No matter how crappy the game gets it still draws us back into it. I have tried to quit the game a couple times before but everytime I think about it and play it for a bit I just end up into grinding the hell out of it
I was a long time player but fell out around Beyond Light. Heard a lot of good things about Witch Queen but didn't get into it till close to Lightfall's release. It was so good I was having a great time like I was playing D1 again, I got super hyped for Lightfall and was really happy that Bungie seemed to be coming back. Then Lightfall came out. It was the most soul crushing thing I've experienced in gaming, finally feeling that the game I loved for so long was finally back just to have every single reason of why I left it amplified up to 11 only a couple months later.
I kind of felt the same way when I tried the game when it was on Game Pass. I love Halo and have played all of the shooter's multiple times and right away you get that feeling with Destiny and you also get the feeling of an MMO with gear progression and quests. What could be better? However, the other issues were too much for me. It was hard as a new player to understand any of the menus or questing, they would push new trial expansions down me that if I did them, I end up thinking my character is on a new path now and I couldn't go back to the old path (I delete my character one time because I thought I messed up its progression because of this). Questing would start out linear and easy but then it would end up taking me back to the same places over and over again. Then when I got some progression, I would hit a big wall gear wise and couldn't progress until I improved my gear. I was stuck on one quest once that it didn't seem possible for my class because its double-jump wasn't powerful enough, but later on the quest just wasn't there anymore. It was clear they were removing things left and right. After it was removed from Game Pass I didn't go back.
PVP was at the worst possible time for a new player. The most insane glitch was going on and everybody had OP glitched guns that one shot everything in the game. It got patched out after the weekend you seemingly played in.
@@TheLazyPeon Honestly have no trouble at all getting into control matches. I wonder if it was since you were completely fresh it was taking a bit longer to get you into a balanced lobby. Idk, just a guess.
I recently came back to D2 after quitting in 2018 and even as a returning player the game felt very confusing. I can imagine as a new player it must be a horrible experience, especially with all the content they 've taken out of the game.
I have returned recently and I can’t believe how much has changed lol I’m not giving up though I’m just going to take it one day at a time until I understand the new stuff.
I completely agree with this review. I absolutely loved the first few hours of gameplay, but trying to figure out where to go next was completely ridiculous and confusing. I stayed away from the paywalls and stuck entirely with the free-to-play regions, but was still reward with flying in circles looking for the next step in the campaign. I was able to find a trio of guys to play with on a weekly basis, but even then it became too confusing to know where were safe areas, what areas I needed to grind for specific gear, etc. I loved the FPS experience because I adore fantasy shooters, but having to listen to NPCs to figure out where to go next when I have the patience and focus of a fruit fly made this game a no-go for me.
I think you nailed all the bigger issues for new players getting in to Destiny, even the experienced players can get lost returning after time away from the game but at its core with a few friends it can be a very fun game, just expect ebbs and flows like any live service game it can be great or terrible at any given time depending on what bungie choose to do with each season
I’m glad that you were enjoying the game. It kinda sucks that you missed out on so much story. About PvP, there was a weapon crafting glitch around the time you were playing, giving auto rifles the power of shotguns for example. That’s why you died within seconds. If you continue playing, then know that you can infuse weapons you like with stronger weapons (higher power) so you can keep using that weapon
"It looks like we can play the previous expansion content in any order." Oh my sweet summer child. Bungie's been cutting old expac content for years. That's why they push the new ones so hard. I stopped caring when they did that. I invested a lot of time into the game and when I took a break they had a resolution to a quest I had been wanting to see with a character's return, and it was already removed by the time I was ready to come back. I wrote the game off after that. I'm not wasting my time or money on that.
I have watched Craig since the knuckle-biting days of 2015. Never, and I mean never, have I enjoyed a video more. As someone who played D2 heavily for 5-6 years after playing D1 heavily for 3-4 years, this video strikes all the cords. From him getting overwhelmed with menus, the insane cost to play current stuff, and his first PvP game against a hacker is one of the greatest things I have ever watched on this platform. I now realize the amount of nonsense that New Light players have to put up with just to try a 'free' game. This game will close out its current 10-year saga next year with The Final Shape. I am fully assuming this will go into maintenance mode as most of the team is working on future projects, already. Godspeed, Destiny. You were never as great as Bungie thought.
Definitely chose to play PvP at the absolute worst time lol. The weapon crafting bug allowed for people to craft completely broken weapons. Also, they are finally adding an in game LFG system soon, so I'd highly recommend coming back around to try dungeons and raids. They are THE best content in the game!
@@bluntastic the game is very polished, this was one of the only game breaking bugs in the entire history of the game and it was fixed pretty quick. Just very bad timing for mr. Peon.
wow they are just now adding in matchmaking for raids after 6 years thats insane. i only played destiny 1, which launched without raid matchmaking, but that was added within the first year maybe first 6-8 months i dont remember
As a D2 vet I felt that you were very accurate and fair. I just introduced D2 to my niece and trying to optimize him buying everything, it ultimately costs him 100$ on a sale to get 100% of the content which is quite a bit. If you are curious about the technique, on a sale you buy the Armory Collection, Legacy Collection, Lightfall Annual pass and finally 2000 silver to buy the Witch Queen Dungeon Key in the Eververse, the in-game cash shop which totals at 100$. I did notice an interesting pattern with your complaints, first of all lack of matchmaking, bungie is introducing Looking For Group in 2 months to combat this issue so even without friends you can find people for campaign, dungeon and raid but that is up in the air as to how the system will play out. Also you mentioned the first area being repeatitive made me curious because in the past you would have to stay in the first map for about 30% longer but bungie cut down on the time but I guess it wasn't enough? I was also pleased to see that most of your praises are things that used to be cons but bungie put in time to correct, I was absolutely shocked when you mentioned some rewarding activities or the first cutscene explaining the backstory pretty well, things that a year ago I couldn't even imagine a new player saying. If you make more videos please turn off the motion blur and depth of field as these give me headaches I love you keep being awesome Peon c:
So dope watching you check out D2. Love how you started on Legendary Campaign and then right after go into PVP when the crafting bug was a thing. This game has some issues, especially for new lights, but it is a really good time if you have friends that play and can explain stuff more in depth (because Bungie def ain't doing that).
As someone with around 5k hours in D2; don't play it. It's genuinely like a toxic relationship where your significant other is constantly in a bad place.
PVE is still great. My sister tried to play but she hates that she can't play 100 percent of the game since some old content was removed to make space for more planets to continue storylines.
I've been playing destiny since 2015 and I would LOVE for you to check out the raids if you can get a group of people or some destiny creators to help you through them, would be a sick series tbh
As a veteran of Destiny, your first impressions were pretty much spot on. Just a few things to note; - Your experience with the PvP was negatively impacted by a glitch that particularly popular at the time, allowing people to craft weapons with traits from other weapon types. For instance, a common combination was an auto rifle with a shotgun frame, giving the auto rifle a pellet spread whilst retaining its range and full auto capabilities. As you can imagine, they was incredibly strong, resulting in quick boss kills in PvE and insta kills in PvP. However, even without this glitch, the PvP has seen a steady decline in recent years due to a lack of support from Bungie. Its simply not as popular as the PvE, and so Bungie hasn't really delivered many new maps, or modes, or interesting loot, or other updates. That, Bungie have recently claimed they are trying to improve on this - but they have given false promises before and at this point its the case that we'll believe it when we see it. - There is an LFG system in the works by Bungie that will enable players to find groups for content like Raids and Dungeons. There is no matchmaking for these activities because they are supposed to be one of the pinnacle challenges in the game, where players completing them for the first time would have to figure out the mechanics for themselves (and then teach others). The raids do have the "guided games" option above their icons to find groups to teach you, or to teach others, but its a flawed system that doesn't really work since these activities typically require good communication over voice chat. The community has relied on LFG discord servers, LFG functions on consoles, and Bungie's own forums to find groups for activities in the game for several years now, and players looking to attempt these activities should look to this. Unfortunately this is not very new-player friendly. Hopefully Bungie's upcoming in-game system will improve things. - The new player experience has been weak for a long time in Destiny, particularly ever since Bungie "vaulted" content with the Beyond Light expansion in 2019. The original Destiny 2 campaign, Red War, was removed, alongside a lot of the planets that were in the game before others were added by DLC. Consequently the new light quest keeps to one of the few remaining original locations, although its worth noting you can access the DLC patrol zones without owning their associated DLC. It has gotten slightly better over the years, with Bungie reworking the Tower introduction quest and some others to teach you the games systems (since it used to do nothing of this sort). The UI has also undergone some changes, and whilst I am familiar with it, its interesting to see how unfriendly it is to a new player. I do think there are too many menus to go through, and the interface for picking up quests from characters should do a better job of highlighting what you need to do. - You can indeed craft weapons. However, unless I'm mistaken, you need the Witch Queen expansion in order to craft your own. I played with a friend returning to the game earlier this year, who hadn't played since 2018, and they couldn't seem to interact with the crafting system until they had completed the first mission of the Witch Queen campaign. This seems odd considering there are crafted weapons unlocked from outside of that expansion (that is, from Lightfall instead). There are however still plenty of weapons to acquire. Most weapons will drop with a random roll based on a selection of available perks. If you find a weapon you like, you can infuse it into a weapon in the same slot that's a higher level, to raise the level of the weapon you like and continue using it in the content that requires you to be a higher level. - Your account lets you make three characters. Given there are three classes, you can make on of each class (Titan, Hunter and Warlock), and experience every build possible in the game. In theory, you can make more than one of a given class, but then you are unable to make one of the other two classes, and there is no benefit to having two of the same class since you can create loadouts on a character to easily switch between the builds available to them. - The reason loot drops as "engrams" which we have to physically pick up is really only for a psychological benefit. It gives the player a bigger sense of reward by seeing a distant enemy drop a rare piece of loot (especially when they drop exotic engrams that have a special sound effect), or when a chest explodes with multiple engrams and stuff flying out of it. It's supposed to be more exciting that a few popups on the side of your screen. It also better serves the inventory system given the limited number of slots available, and the postmaster also has a cap so if you don't clear it out regularly you will eventually lose out on drops. That said, some activities do drop rewards straight into your inventory. The challenges attached to activities that give a reward, such as the one for completing three strikes, will drop directly into your inventory instead of an engram. - There's probably more that hasn't come to mind right now, but the game is a special one because it simultaneously sets up incredible expectations from its fans due to its fantastic gameplay, whilst often under-delivering on various aspects. Consequently, most players have a love/hate relationship with the game. All I will say is that it is a great game which many may find they enjoy, but you should beware the addiction it can bring because it doesn't necessarily respect your time very well unless you take a healthy approach to playing it (like any addiction).
hearing Phenomenon by Thousand Foot Crutch was a pleasant surprise for the quick scope kill. was expecting a fail but Craig reminding us that he used to go at them fps games
I think its important to note that Vanguard "Strikes" are the dungeon finder. Not only is there standard/heroic difficulties there is also nightmare(nightmare requires your own party). On the menu its at the top next to Crucible(pvp) - US servers do not have these long ques for crucible. A lot of the big story missions become available as strikes, and during campaign it may que you for a group as well. Im sad that the new player experience wasnt as great as this game can be. Ive played since destiny 1 on and off. From the level deigns/platforming puzzles to the intensity of the raids and the cool quests for chasing down exotic weapons this game really does have some solid things the new player wont get to experience right away. Oh and for competitive pvp you should check out iron banner events or trial weekends. I would say that this game sinks its teeth into you when you least expect it. You'll slowly think about it more and more and if you can utilize discord to find raid groups you will be hooked in no time.
"Tha game is very polished and didn't experienced any bugs" The poor dude tries pvp on time to experience the most insane bug/glich that has ever happened since the laser tag days.
I’m so glad I started Destiny fairly early in D1Y3. It’s had its ups and downs but it still remains the best shooter on the market and it’s delivered some of my most favourite moments in my gaming career
I like the game as a person who only played destiny 2 and I do believe that it can be so much better, if only they bring back content for the lore. The lore/story is what interests me, thankfully played when shadowkeep came out and it was also the time it turned to a "free to try" game. So I was able to play the 3 free expansions that they where promoting when it became free to try. But after some time off after playing those 3 free expansions, I came back and the content for the 3 expansions where gone. Reason from what I remember is because the game was getting too big in storage, in which is a bad reason because for a few years now 1 or 2 terabyte was the norm for PC. Like it's already 105.28 GB from what I'm reading as of 10/3/2023, deleting that content was only a short fix for a bad reason. Not only that but the seasonal content goes away after 3 month or now a year, then only now during the showcase for final shape they showed that they are doing content being called episodes that will not go away. Even though it is basicly just a modified seasonal model that won't be removed. They do "so much work" only for them to get removed from the game.
33:20 "throughout my time playing, i couldn't help but feel like I missed something like all the previous expansion's content was deleted or hidden" thats bcuz you're right. Back when the beyond light expansion released, bungie announced that they will be removing content from the game and into the "Destiny Content Vault" or DCV so this way the game can continue to grow without having to worry about storage space. The base vanilla game, first expansion, second expansion, a very large portion of the 3rd expansion, seasonal content, as well as raids, locations, strikes, exotic quests, adventures, etc... were removed
The dungeons and raids are meant to be done with a coordinated team, they also intentionally don’t tell you how to do the mechanics because it’s meant to be a puzzle for your team to solve. Which is why the harder activities such as raids/dungeons/grandmaster nightfalls/campaigns/etc. do not have matchmaking. There are also other dungeons on the other planets, not just the Prophecy dungeon.
Really enjoyed this video brother and *note* after years of waiting we are finally getting an in-game lfg coming later this year. What's funny is if you were privy to a few more systems you would probably fall in love with the game. The fact is Bungie doesn't hold your hand and the onboarding experience is horrendous but we all know gameplay is king and there is nothing else out there like Destiny 👍 just like Halo its sandbox and design have so many little things to offer, the more you play you really feel like you're mastering the game!
Dungeons and raids you need pre-made groups. Strikes are like mini dungeons that will group you with people. Pvp, usually que is instant, weird. There's a lot more depth to it all.
The issue with dungeons and raids is a HUGE part of the enjoment comes from figuring them out and its supposed to be very reliant on team communication, so making it matchmaking would be a horrible idea mind you they are basically doing that nexy season
Would be great if there was a easy version that you can do with randoms that only gives normal loot. I really hated it that you always need a Fireteam/Guild for Raids to know what happens story wise
Yeah naming conventions were weird. Few things: Public events exist on every planet, you could’ve grinded them on any other destination. They also have secret heroic sequences to earn more loot. Strikes are what you refer to as Dungeons to be honest, multiplayer match made experiences with mini stories. Dungeons and raids are very end game. Preferably not done until you’ve unlocked your subclass abilities (I dunno how they’ve changed it for new players… used to be earned via gameplay… dunno if it still is, or you gotta visit a random NPC) PvP is only fun if you’ve unlocked your subclass abilities too tbh.
I've played on and off for years. I have a bunch of friends that D2 is their main game, so they pull me back in. The dungeons and raids are a lot of fun with friends, but you really need someone there to teach you the mechanics because a lot of them are not easy to figure out. Each time I come back to D2 I drop it fairly quickly because it is incredibly repetitive, and the most fun content is often hidden behind endgame light score (gear score) which means you need to grind the less fun parts of the game for like a week before you can do the fun parts of the game with your friends.
So for raids they are intentionally made unintuitive. They are puzzles, and Bungie basically just makes the raid and lets the players figure it out naturally. There are clues in many raids, and raids can be soloed but it is extremely difficult. My favorite raid is the scarlet keep, it is quite incredible how much work Bungie puts into the raids.
This sucks that you tried pvp during the crafting bug because PvP is the reason this game feels so good! i really hope you give it another try during a normal weekend
So glad you’re playing destiny, been my favourite game since beta came out despite the flaws and hard times. been waiting for this video for years hope you keep playing and get some great memories from the game it can be an absolute blast
also another thing is that for some of the raids they do not automatically match you with other players and you have to make sure you have to assemble a full party before hand
Very tragic that your first pvp match was during the historical weapon crafting bug. You're comment on how you'd likely be in a love/hate relationship with the game is spot on. The game shines SO bright when it works and there are a monetization choices that pain the community. I am surprised you weren't able to find a 6v6 match though and it might have something to do with you being brand new to the game as matches are usually found very quickly. There is an LFG system finally being added in the next season so if you keep up with it look out for that. Otherwise I'd highly suggest joining a clan. Currently players have to use third party sites and discord servers to find groups if they aren't in one.
Grinding Powerlevel is just doing the campaign and after that a few pinnacles. Getting godrolls for weapons and high-stat armor has become a lot easier + you can craft weapons now. Every looter-shooter/MMO has a grind. I don't think the grind is that bad in D2, just getting into the game as a new player is horrible.
"Seeing this I kinda wish I understood the story" is why I was actively angry playing Destiny... I could tell so much work had been put into making a truly interesting storyline but because of their archive system I *could not* play the backstory myself.
Destiny 1 and 2 were both great experiences for me, and I really enjoyed them heaps for years. None of the things you mentioned here are why I stopped playing.
Destiny 2, a deep lore world where the dev gives no sh** anymore and just bunny hop through story for new players. But hey, the cash shop works perfectly and missing nothing
Not really fanboy hate, for most of it at least, just that he legit got so many things straight up wrong and gave the impression he didn't even check it more in depth with some of his complaints; else he would have noticed the game already has solutions for them.
@@TheLazyPeon Maybe you should read some of the feedback on that video or one of the many well thought out respectful video responses by community members on that video. It isn't fanboy hate. You dropped the ball and people let you know how, while also addressing your qualms about the game.
I almost got back into Destiny the other day but I wasn't super motivated to keep playing so I left. I keep getting recommended Destiny videos for some reason and now this. Maybe you can change my mind and I'll actually go play it. 0:00: edit, meh, maybe if I get bored. also is Destiny big where he lives? He's just not finding players/community to run content with
Yeah, that is exactly wow. One example of the different stream destiny two in destiny one that you and destiny two is all over the place and that’s the one you go up to request giver. They pop up at the bottom a description of the quest and you can accept or or cancel. You can’t miss it.
I'm really glad that you made a video on one of my favorite games, I hope you make a follow up video playing with someone experienced at the game since you were unable to experience the raids/dungeons which are some of the games best content. I forget the exact reasoning but there is not normal matchmaking in the game and atm, the only way to find a party is looking for them through their website. They are supposed to be implementing it in the game later on.
Except when a main story request, as you doing a strike as they frequently do like, if the next step in the MSU is to go do a certain strike, it will be match made
Yeah, that’s exactly how I did it just keep fighting with around Wendell and him down staying out of his way when he gets really angry trying to keep by you know shit between you and him when he goes in that mode and just keep tightening around the room and tell you will live down but it’s still a top boss and he ate the last one of those you’re going to see
I didn't realize how wild Destiny's UI was until I saw it through the eyes of someone who doesn't play. New players would really benefit from a friend who can walk them through and answer questions. I think it all makes sense when you've figured it out (go figure huh), it's just a matter of explanation; which Destiny seldom does on it's own
The section where you trying to do Raids and dungeons and you didnt know what to do. I understand your frustration, but thats the whole point. You get a squad using 3rd party app or friends and you go in there and figure it out on your own. You either figure it out or watch a video guide before hand. Thats the best part of destiny end game.
Nice vid, now do Division 2 next. Although fair warning, you will basically be playing that as a single player game until you get to end game coz everyone is in endgame. My recommendation for video making purposes would be to try it out with a new character until you get to where you feel is enough for a first impressions then use the character boost on a second character to boost it to level 30/40 then progress through the DLC to endgame to check that out. Once you are there you will find all the players.
Your point in con about the content part is correct. They removed old content as new expansion comes in. It's like you're paying them to replace content instead of expanding. That's why it got mostly negative in user review.
Top notch video, I must say. I have played D2 for 3-4 years, and havent been able to get back into it after a long 2 year break. The game is amazing and also has some issues that you mentioned. I wish Destiny all the best. Maybe in the future I will get back to my Ace of Spades, fingers crossed.
But the important part is you don’t have any control over it when you enter a planetary ecosystem like cosmodrome the system just picks a cosmodrome to shove you into if there’s one of you it just needs one open space if there’s three needs three open spaces, it may or may not have a like overflow or a hard camp. I doubt there’s a hard gap, but if there’s five of you that want to play together, you literally have no way to make that happen without just getting lucky because fire teams are three players no matter where you go except the raid so you can get three players on one ecosystem together but you can’t get five or six or eight
You played on legendary, that mission at 20 mins, its very had to pass the boss that is in the next room. But you haven't seen what tough is yet, not even on legendary but the mission is called Present Talisman to Awoken Warrior - I gave up years ago. Its so difficult so that its basically now a paper weight.

Absolutely not in any fucking way. They litterly stole content already in the game recolored it and are reselling it.
gear does not matter in pvp, ususally its pretty balanced, you just played at a time where there was a insane bug in the game. the bug allowed you to craft insane auto rifles that shoot like 13 bullets at a time like a shotgun. or craft shotgun granade launchers ect
8:01 - I can't stand youtubers / streamers who can't check game settings BEFORE stream/recording..... what is wrong with ppls? can't you go to settings before starting game - or if in main menu u can't go to settings then start game and go to settings then? WHY u complaining while it is your ignorance here.
I absolutely lost it when you entered the Crucible. Bro's first exposure to PvP was on THE weapon crafting bug week.
I just realized he did it during the week of the craftening, thats tuff
😂
Literally noticed that myself. Good example of how rough it must've been for a new player.
Oh no 😭
The Craftening, Imagine someone started playing the game believeing that it's just how Destiny is with no idea that it was a bug or how they could get to that power level lol
@@IL_Bgentylna its the developers fault
Once that gets added next season it will help a ton cause most players just quit cause they don't know how to group up and there isn't a global chat.
i brought my friend into destiny and he plays it still
@@IL_Bgentyl Theres no depth in destiny 2 lol...the contents are so limited after you reached the endgame.
New players since May, easy to catch up with the story in a few weeks and enjoyed it💁🏻♂️😊 spent only 55€ for everything story-related
It's horrendous for new players. I've installed it a few times, looking to get back into it and it's a complete overwhelming mess.
Doesn't help they decided to DELETE old content too. It makes it so hard to approach now.
@@KineticCalvaria It seems almost as bad as ESO for new players to get into honestly, and that's saying something.
But, I was the one with the cowboy gun, having the most fun, while also having the most deaths and least kills ;)
I remember when I first laid eyes on the Ace of Spades, the hand-cannon wielded by my (then) hero - Cayde-6 - and feeling like it was the biggest honour in the world that I could experience.
Kinda common sense

Depends on how much they change and innovate.
this is what i love about destiny, there is so much content. new character experience isnt good, but end game is fantastic.
Based on your first PvP game i'd assume you played when there was a massive weapon crafting bug happening, which would explain why that guy was one shotting you lol
Definitely what happened haha, I seen the ammit and insta kill and knew exactly what happened
yep. The Ammit took it away. Worst Timing to try PvP in Destiny ever. ;(

Super unlucky timing, atleast my second game wasn't too bad
Most fun i had on pvp unironically 😂

Idk where I was going. So I just stop playing.
Same here lol @@interfer001

"It looks like we can play the previous expansion content in any order."
Oh my sweet summer child.
D1 wasn't like this piece of shit d2
Wasn’t a hacker it was a crafting bug that let people craft op stuff
Destiny 1 was such a gem. Wish you had experienced it. So many great memories. D2 was never as good for me.

It sure is. Destiny 1 is like vanilla wow for me. A time gone by that will never be seen again. 😢
Definitely chose to play PvP at the absolute worst time lol. The weapon crafting bug allowed for people to craft completely broken weapons. Also, they are finally adding an in game LFG system soon, so I'd highly recommend coming back around to try dungeons and raids. They are THE best content in the game!

Destiny 2: Legacy Collection is currently free on the Epic Games Store.
Just wanted to mention too Peon, you're one of the top reviewers I go to when deciding on a game I haven't played. Keep up the good work.

As a veteran of Destiny, your first impressions were pretty much spot on. Just a few things to note;
- Your experience with the PvP was negatively impacted by a glitch that particularly popular at the time, allowing people to craft weapons with traits from other weapon types.
All I will say is that it is a great game which many may find they enjoy, but you should beware the addiction it can bring because it doesn't necessarily respect your time very well unless you take a healthy approach to playing it (like any addiction).
it would be more weird if loot was just auto looted from bloody miles away, that would be stupid
Having been a Destiny player since launch I would say your first impression is 100% accurate. It really is a love hate relationship.
hearing Phenomenon by Thousand Foot Crutch was a pleasant surprise for the quick scope kill. was expecting a fail but Craig reminding us that he used to go at them fps games

I’m so glad I started Destiny fairly early in D1Y3. It’s had its ups and downs but it still remains the best shooter on the market and it’s delivered some of my most favourite moments in my gaming career
the overall summary you made sums up the destiny 2 player experience perfectly (from someone who poured some to many hours into the game)
Oh ya, you missed out on the best part of Destiny 2: the soccer field.
Kind of a ripoff since you originally paid for it. One of the reasons I went "ew" and didn't come back to the game.
I literally downloaded Destiny 2 yesteday and this shows up to me, what a good timing =D
it showed up because he literally just uploaded it
@@ZeotyXBLI don’t think you understand what he’s saying
I think this is the earliest I've ever been to any video
Same! and im here for it.
There are also other dungeons on the other planets, not just the Prophecy dungeon.
once you get the Catalyst for quicksilver you will love that gun so much, also come back during IRON BANNER
@@IronBrutzler i would prefer the dungeons can be explained via visual or in-game audio. easy to understand and hard to execute type.
matchmaking should be standard on any title
@@IronBrutzler at that point just play a strike
@@IronBrutzleran easy version where you get normal loot...so basically strikes and battlegrounds?
Yeah naming conventions were weird.
Few things:
Public events exist on every planet, you could’ve grinded them on any other destination. They also have secret heroic sequences to earn more loot.
Strikes are what you refer to as Dungeons to be honest, multiplayer match made experiences with mini stories.
Dungeons and raids are very end game. Preferably not done until you’ve unlocked your subclass abilities (I dunno how they’ve changed it for new players… used to be earned via gameplay… dunno if it still is, or you gotta visit a random NPC)
PvP is only fun if you’ve unlocked your subclass abilities too tbh.
it's basically fps guild wars 2 in space
I've played on and off for years. I have a bunch of friends that D2 is their main game, so they pull me back in. The dungeons and raids are a lot of fun with friends, but you really need someone there to teach you the mechanics because a lot of them are not easy to figure out. Each time I come back to D2 I drop it fairly quickly because it is incredibly repetitive, and the most fun content is often hidden behind endgame light score (gear score) which means you need to grind the less fun parts of the game for like a week before you can do the fun parts of the game with your friends.
This is my experience as well sadly
Please do more of this! There is soo much content to get into and would love to see you tackle raids and rated pvp etc.
Raiding is by far my favorite content in this game. You should 100% try to find a group to do some raids with.
I did not expect to hear the sound phenomenon from TFK but was pleasantly surprised
Ah yes. My favorite raid. The Scarlet Keep
*_I like Bungie because Hispanic is my favorite language._*
Ah the initial fun of the game... Then the grind starts. XD
When the grind starts it's a sign to went to another game ;-)

Peon would love this game, any game that lets him spend money is 10/10 for him 😂
Him and Asmon have that in common.
Peon you should cover Darktide, as it has just gotten a major revamp to it's talent tree making the game way more enjoyable.
Some of the best gameplay I've ever experienced, such a shame what they've done with other aspects of the game
I’ve waited so long for you to review destiny 2!
Destiny 2, a deep lore world where the dev gives no sh** anymore and just bunny hop through story for new players. But hey, the cash shop works perfectly and missing nothing
Just got back into this game since D1 funny you drop this vid now
I’d love to see you do a follow up to the GW2 video, because holy shit the amount of fanboy hate you got for that was insane
I didn't read the comments on that one tbh, had no idea people were mad, been busy irl
Not really fanboy hate, for most of it at least, just that he legit got so many things straight up wrong and gave the impression he didn't even check it more in depth with some of his complaints; else he would have noticed the game already has solutions for them.
@@TheLazyPeon Please check out Mukluk's reaction to your GW2 review. He was fair, honest, and he's an amazing content creator for our community.
@@TheLazyPeon Maybe you should read some of the feedback on that video or one of the many well thought out respectful video responses by community members on that video. It isn't fanboy hate. You dropped the ball and people let you know how, while also addressing your qualms about the game.
Guys, thanks for proving my point.
I almost got back into Destiny the other day but I wasn't super motivated to keep playing so I left. I keep getting recommended Destiny videos for some reason and now this. Maybe you can change my mind and I'll actually go play it. 0:00:
edit, meh, maybe if I get bored. also is Destiny big where he lives? He's just not finding players/community to run content with
Yeah, that is exactly wow. One example of the different stream destiny two in destiny one that you and destiny two is all over the place and that’s the one you go up to request giver. They pop up at the bottom a description of the quest and you can accept or or cancel. You can’t miss it.
"I didn't experience any bugs" LOL, your first death by the ammit begs to differ. The summary overall hit real close to home and was spot on.
I was not expecting the random Thousand Foot Krutch lol
I'm really glad that you made a video on one of my favorite games, I hope you make a follow up video playing with someone experienced at the game since you were unable to experience the raids/dungeons which are some of the games best content. I forget the exact reasoning but there is not normal matchmaking in the game and atm, the only way to find a party is looking for them through their website. They are supposed to be implementing it in the game later on.
The pvp you played was during a game breaking bug where you can put a shotgun frame on a autorife to make it op
Used to be such a great game.
I loved D1 , But now i just cant be asked to keep paying over €60 for expensions.
Id rather buy a new game.
Oh Craig choosing the Legendary campaign there, I flinched so hard since he's a new player and all. Oh boy I knew what was coming lol
13 mins into the video, never would i thought I would see my favorite mmo youtube channel make a video about destiny lmfao thats hype af
you missed the strike playlist which is basically smaller match made dungeons that are fun to grind
Except when a main story request, as you doing a strike as they frequently do like, if the next step in the MSU is to go do a certain strike, it will be match made
D1 raids are among my best gaming memories, I miss the crew. Idk how are D2 raids are beside the very 1rst one but you should try.
There was a crazy big Bug going on when you played PvP that has since been patched. Definitely recommend you try again
Thats the best part of destiny end game.
jeez your first experience with pvp was with that insane weapon bug week.
Its so difficult so that its basically now a paper weight.
ill always love seeing a throwback to mlg especially when its ogre 2 and final boss
Raids are max light level activities that require the use of a destiny 2 lfg discord to get proper groups.
funny timing on the video with the disastrous bungie tweet
yeah just saw that lmao
oh shit, i just got heavy destiny pvp flashbacks, i used to love it
