I also feel it should be added to your Tesla account so when you get a new car it will be transferred to it attomatacly with out this it is just to much to reshell all that cash out again
I subscribed to FSD in May 2023 for a road trip in my June 2022 MYLR with ultrasonic sensors. 2 weeks later I was upgraded to beta version. It was good but not great with some weird turns. Autopilot was sooooo much better on secondary roads with beta and I missed it when I let my subscription lapse. I am considering buying EAP so I can subscribe to FSD with beta for only $99. It depends on your personal finances but I appreciated the safety it adds to everyday driving.
Good to know. We subscribed on my wife’s long range for our trip to Florida, but we’re never able to unlock the beta. I’m tempted to try on my RWD as I’d like to see how the new AP code does on the highway.
Thanks for the pure honest review. Honestly disappointing that the price does not equal the features. It might take years to get it at that high level … And they should have auto Lane change already included in every Tesla purchase…
Hey brother I just wanted to express my appreciation for this video 90% of videos on self-driving or enhanced autopilot or just brown nosing or non-realistic for the majority of what people drive in a day so thank you very much
I bought my M3 used with full autopilot and am loving it. Not sure I’d buy it for a new one, but used is 100% worth it. Of course I’ve only had it for 3 days, so I’m still in the honeymoon period. 😂
So if you don’t get EAP you can still use the regular cruise control feature correct? It will stay within the lane and keep distance from cars. My biggest concern is using it in traffic on the freeway. I don’t need it to “know” when to exit
Out of curiosity, have you attempted lane change in congested conditions like stop-and-go traffic? I know there have been plenty of tight merges and lane changes I have to make to get where I'm going but I would imagine this system would struggle a lot because of how much cushioning and extra caution it would operate with.
This is why I bought the MYP to be able to drive it myself and experience the power and agility that the car has while also have the cargo space for kids, the same goes for the Model 3 performance. I'd rather focus on the driving experience myself rather than let autopilot do it for me or park my car slowly for me. Now this tech is new and it's based on AI and machine learning and data collection so this will of course improve faster than we can predict and the ability to just upgrade to it at any time from your home or wherever is very neat! But it still should not cost that much when its features are not yet fully working. Beta products should be beta and that means free, once the final product is released they can make people pay for a subscription or pay in full...
I have a 2023 MYLR with HW3 and no sensors. Did they tell me my car would not have the sensors when I went to pick it up - NO! Did I get it after the new year price drop NO again I got it in 12/22 when they were still very valuable. So I am not a happpy camper. That said I am going to do a 2500 mile road trip next month. Would you suggest the $200 FSD or the $60 enhanced autopilot?
I hear you! Not sure where you are located but I don’t have the option to subscribe to EAP. We did a trip in my wife’s M3 last spring and had to subscribe to FSD. Having said that, FSD is better than EAP on the highway right now. Set it on the chill setting and it just plain does the driving for you.
Just bought a used Model S that has FSD paid for already on it. I will say I love it but I wouldn’t pay for it if the previous seller didn’t do it for me. Driving to work and letting the car take over for 20 minutes on the freeway is insanely relaxing, but for $6000? Again, don’t think I’d do it.
People spend so much on things in cars that have no safety. performance, or comfort benefits. 6k for those features doesn't sound that bad if someone is driving a couple hours a day. For me I drive on the highway two hours every work day. If I have a headache, kinda sleepy, or I just want to zone out, those features would be worth it to help make sure I am safe. (I am not saying I will plan to fall asleep and not pay attention if I have autopilot, just would make two hours less of a chore)
I agree with you that EAP is not a bit worth it for me. First I am retired. I just drive around town, and don't require lane change feature because of not driving on Expressways. Auto Navigate is useless to me because I would still have to stop myself going through towns with stop signs or lights. I assume I would have to disable auto navigate at intersections - don't know because I only have Basic Auto Pilot. My 2023 model Y has no sensors so as you said Summons and Auto Park will not work. All in all, 6,000 dollars for this EAP addon option is also not for me. I can buy allot of other things for 6,000 dollars.
In my experience with EAP I was getting two of the five features. It definitely wasn’t worth $6K. The thing that I really like about it is that it lets me subscribe to FSD Beta for only $99/month. Otherwise, EAP was way overpriced for what it did.
Great point on the reduced subscription cost for FSD. I’m tempted to play around with FSD a bit but I’d want to be in the Beta, and not sure how quickly that would get pushed to me.
given the success of the latest V12 FSD beta it seems that those with Enhanced autopilot or with FSD will be pleasently surprised once it is rolled out for the general public.. i have a hunch that FSD prices will increase in future.. no one else is even close to FSD.. Tela will have a monopoly there with such a robust software under its belt..
@@mywifestesla amen to that. i think since the money has been paid it should be a matter of time before you get the upgraded version of it.. (however, i do hope that Tesla does not include an extra layer of purchase in between, OR, introduce measures that make EAP a pain (hands on steering at all times, tracking eyeball movement etc))
In my country it costs $3500, is it still worth it or not? My car is MYP 2023 model. In my opinion, still not until they fixed and improve the other features.
If you found this video helpful and are thinking about purchasing a Tesla, feel free to use my referral code: ts.la/craig397953. As a buyer, you'll receive $500 off the cost of a Model 3 or Model Y and get 3 free months of FSD.
I've been running 2023.20.9 for about the past month, however most of that has been playing around with FSD on the highway. Phantom braking is still there with FSD, but it hasn't been as bad when I compare it to EAP. I need to do a comparison of EAP to FSD on the highway, it's on my list.
@@mywifestesla thank you for the reply. I’m curious to see if you find any improvements in the EAP with newer software. I’m on the fence of purchasing a M3LR, but am unwilling to pay the FSD premium and the continuing phantom braking on AP/EAP has me concerned.
I would not pay $15K for FSD, not worth it in my opinion. I've got a free 3 month upgrade to FSD that I've been playing with, and been doing some experimenting. That comparison video is one of the next ones I want to record, just need to find the time to do it.
I really wanted it, in fact ive had it in my cart for a long time.. but the more and more i read, it's not. I keep watching videos hoping someone tells me it is.. But it's not heh
The more I use auto lane change the more I like it. Is that worth $6K, yea probably not. I’d hold off until they sort out Tesla Vision so you can get all the features you’d be paying for.
I just dont forsee me ever deciding. you know, why don't pay 15000$ extra for FSD. If the price was say 3/6k i would. But this just seems like a cash grab. At $200 a month you'd have to have the car for 7 years. I'm 47. I've had 3 new cars in the last 12 years,. And it doesn't even follow the person but follows the car when traded in. Id pay the $200 1 month to check it out some day in the future if we do a 1000 mile trip. But, if we do a 1000 mile trip with our dogs and son, it's likely going to be in a rented mini van or big SUV lol
I’ve had my M3 for 2 weeks and already experienced 2 Phantom braking events. Both where hard enough to cause tires to bark, fortunately no one was close behind. So I don’t trust it and now only use cruise control, no idea how to report it or how to know what caused it. I also have a 23 without the sensors and every morning, before sunrise, without fail my right Pilar camera blocked error comes on. Never during the day and so far haven’t driven it after sundown. I think I’ll save my 6k to put towards an upgrade in model if after this M3 I choose to go with a Y.
I've never had a phantom brake that hard where the tires would actually lock. In most cases it seems related to cars merging on the highway or something it doesn't like with the car in the next lane. You should definitely have service look at the camera issue. I had a similar issue, although it wasn't happening every day, and they, and they were able to look into the vehicles logs.
It is borderline criminal to remove sensors from cars to reduce the cost by a few dollars, but still demand $6000 for a service that can’t be used after *their* cost reduction. I agree it is absolutely not worth it currently. The FSD price is out-of-this-world expensive, but Elon probably hopes that people will buy it out of the fear that the price will increase even more. However, the price is already three times beyond the price of buying another cheap used car on top of already buying a Tesla, which makes me wonder if he has lost touch with ordinary people’s economic capabilities. If the price of FSD increases in the future, then it better deliver 100000% better driving compared to humans and make it possible and legal to drive people home from a night out. There is some work to be done before that happens. He is selling products that have not yet been developed at a premium price.
Part of the problem is people are paying this premium for software that is nothing more than Beta. Then again, maybe they weren't given the recent price reduction on FSD. Most people still think FSD at $12K is grossly inflated. Think about it, people are paying big money for a Beta product that is really doing nothing more than feeding data to their AI so it can continue to learn.
Would you say 3845 dollars worth it for enhanced autopilot or no. As my car is new and have vision. So I’ll not get auto park or summon neither smart summon.
I would say no. You’re only getting 40% of the features if you don’t have USS. Doing the math, that would be worth $2400 assuming all features are equal.
I spent $200 to try out full self driving for a month and it is a miserable failure. It auto turns into parking lots and dead end streets instead of what the Tesla maps function said, tries to pull out into ongoing traffic, phantom breaking is horrible and dangerous (75 to 35 on an expressway), has issues stopping way before stop signs, and the auto lane change works maybe 50% of the time. It is not ready for prime time and is quite frankly dangerous. Save your money (and maybe your life).
Great question. I think as the software improves, and provided they are upgrading to the FSD code base, they’ll raise the cost as the FSD cost goes up.
@@mywifesteslaThey lowered the prices on the cars to tap into the segment below what the tesla used to cost. But those People unwilling or unable to buy a tesla at the higher price are more likely NOT to buy these packages at these prices i think. Also the price for this package should be lower for People that has a 2023 vehicle as like you say, they are missing 60% of the touted features. I Will never buy at this pricepoint for sure.
