Shout out to venture surplus. My kit is a camo mis-match of surplus gear from them. Different camo types makes me completely invisible in all environments. I think that's how it works.
Also how do we get some sweet ass traditional or crayon NOVA brass facts patches???

Pro tip: Rite in the rain notepads. I use them at work (construction) in the Pacific Northwest. You will need a PENCIL in the rain, or a Rite in the Rain/ Space pen (pressurized ink pen). Carpenter or fat pencils are way cheaper and more reliable, but will rub off (don’t say it 😂) to the point of being illegible over time. Sharpies & regular pens will not work in the wet and dirty.
Ok, fine… That’s what she said.
Yup, I keep a Space Pen with my Rite-in-the-Rain pads. Also in the We't Side of WA where we get our fair share of rain.
If I’m not mistaken the cross pen he has in there can also take space pen inserts
Never forget the USS Libërty and the men who died on that day
Yeah, when I was in I went the pencil route too lol. You can also upgrade your actual notepad too. Luminescent tape can be put on the inside of the backer (makes it easy to read and write under nightvision). Also you can stick velcro on the front to and attach pen and chemlight holders
I've been pretty impressed with the Milwaukee markers that claim to be able to write on wet/diry/greasy surfaces.
While Velocity Systems products might be good stuff, the fact that they refuse to sell body armor to civilian customers is an automatic no-go for me!!!
Pro tip: If you want an IFAK but are pressed for space on that rig, there is a way to run one that I really like. Get a windowed small magpul DAKA pouch. Make two loops out of gutted 550 cord. One shorter one longer. Girth hitch them to the two tie down points on the daka pouch. Insert the daka pouch into the velcro "map" pouch on the chest rig. Pop one of the chest harness buckles and route the small 550 loop over the male end and resnap the buckle. This will serve as a tie down point. Route the larger loop up and leave it hanging out the top. When you re-secure the velcro you will have a loop of 550 hanging out. Grab that and give it a good pull and your zippered daka pouch will come out no problem. It is windowed (you can see all the goodies inside) and tied off to your kit so it won't shift in the pouch or leave you when you pull it out. It's quick to access and it let's you run chest seals, NPAs, guaze, gloves, hemostatic gauze, etc. Pack it right and it will have a very flat form factor.
Never forget the USS Libërty and the men who died on that day
I ain’t reading all that

Brassfacts Friday 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
They call the hour after dawn and the hour before dusk "the golden hours" because the lighting is really good for photography. Its also not oppressively hot.
The tracer stout scout is quicky becoming my main squeeze. The scalability is amazing and being able to run 7+ mags without stacking mags outwards is great. Also balances real well with the same HX harness you're using. It's made by Lunar Concepts btw.
The Tracer rigs are awesome. Being just wide troughs that you can stick inserts into make them very scalable and configurable. One of their most underrated features is the ability to attach their plate bags to them. Really handy if you want to run a chest rig most of the time, but want the option to add armor for civil unrest type situations.
Never forget the USS Libërty and the men who died on that day
Currently using the hx harness with the tracer split rig and a beez hydration carrier. Gives me pattern 83 vibes
My buddy and I talk about stuff all the time and right after we talk about certain points in the “tactical world” you drop a video that day talking about the stuff. CRAZY!
I watched your video from last year, among MANY others, and went with the TAPS and the upgrade kit.
My mags aren't double stacked, and I can place any pouch that I want, anywhere I want. I absolutely love it.
I get wanting the low profile thing but if we can take lessons from MACVSOG more ammo is a force multiplier for a small unit against a larger one
I agree. Other than a training environment, I really can’t see the justification in carrying less readily available ammo if you know you’re going to have to use it.
My first deployment I carried 8 mags. My last deployment I carried 4.
@@benjaminth10 Yeah it helps when your rifle is merely a tool to buy you time to call in air support
Those SOG guys - awe inspiring to be sure. Superlative warriors. And yes, they absolutely would forsake food and water so they could carry 600+ rounds for their CAR-15 (in addition to 40mm HE, frags, smoke, C4, Claymores, Toe Poppers, etc.) Comms were vital for those guys and the reason why a few of those guys are still around today. I urge everyone to listen to the many interviews of SOG guys available on the lubetube.
@@Jkp1321 lmao what?
I don't know where the music comes from but it always sounds so good and really fits with the feeling of your videos!
BF, For those double walls between the mag slots. Get some upholstery thread and just sew them together. go in through one out the other then over the top and repeat. Tie a knot every third or fifth loop through. Should hold up for a good long time.
You need a pup that nova can pass her tactical knowledge on to. We love ya'll, God bless.
Best outro. I have a bunch of those towels in brown, black and green
Been thinking about chest rigs, good timing. Thanks
7:08 This part of the song always make me feel like I'm exploring a magical castle whilst someone talks about Motorolas next to me.
I ended up getting the kydex inserts and it helped greatly.
100k subs soon, and you’ve earned it!
I had a hard time choosing between the mayflower and the haley D3CRX, but i ultimately went with the haley. I like having the pistol/small tool pouches at the front, and it fits 4 pmags (much better with the inserts - even though $10 per is highway robbery like everything else) i also added a beez sidewing for some extra molle space. Its probably a little more expensive than some options, but i like that i can scale it to my needs. Micro rig to macro rig to PC placard, all in one
I picked up a U.S. Palm Defender years ago. Got the AR version. 3 rifle mag pouches, two pistol mag/light/folding knife pouches, 3A panels, 10”x10” ish rear pocket. Folds up flat and slides in any bag I need it to. Only regret is I didn’t get one of the AK versions as well.
Your mag issue is exactly why I ditched mine. Went with Haley Strategic and my magazine issue was instantly solved. Keep the great videos coming
yeah, I might try some plastic inserts.
I like the Beez combat chest rigs. Built in mag pouches with molle all across the front to setup however you want.
Because you are making money while doing what you love. That's why you do it. Great job.
I run the a Motorola XTS 5000 programmed and encrypted. We have a guy in our group is a radio nerd, and he programs all of them for us. Work great! Love them! We also all run the same Disco PTT as well. Big argument out there right now if radios are actually needed in small groups. I am starting to see several guys on YT say they are not needed, but I have to disagree with them 🤷♂️
same, I think radios are generally mandatory if you want to step up your game
The fk? No radio?
Radios are mandatory, even as a convenience. Just yesterday my dude had to run back to the truck and grab something and I radio'd him to grab my water too. Shit is dope.
@@BrassFacts I'm sure you're busy and get a lot of comments, so you probably can't answer this, but what made you go with the hybrid over the UW Gen IV? I'm trying to decide which to buy. I've never owned a chest rig, so knowing what I want is difficult. I'm assuming the advantage of the hybrid is that you can add a couple extra pouches of your choosing.
The tism REALLY showing in this video thank you for the info man love your videos 😂
I feel you on the heat, but at least you dont have to deal with the humidity. It was super humid this year in the south. Its started transitioning to autumn here though
Great review of the chest rig, get a canteen instead of the dump pouch stay hydrated, find shade & enjoy a Guinness extra stout for carbs to go.Thanks for your sacrifice.
Been waiting for this one since the hop video
This is exactly what I needed, I just purchased the T-Rex arms Ready Rig on a whim. And it only has Pmags in it
Vel Sys makes that same front on your chest rig as a standalone placard, that I've been running on an Agilite K19 for like 5 months. Honestly I really love it, you are totally right about the gen 3 PMAGs though. The front pouches are a bit wonky, except the small ones actually fit a baofeng perfectly, which makes my radio setup actually really slick.
Gen 3 pmags dont work well with most nylon tbh. Why i switched to metal mags, just works a lot better in most gear
gen 3 tan windowed pmags are so fucking slick tho@@CatholicKit
Some A+ dog footage there the best we’ve seen in a while
The swaggy cross pen for the win
Picked up the same chest rig on your recommendation :)
I'm running Kywi inserts in the mag pockets - it's snug, but works like a charm.
It’d be pretty awesome if Velsys dropped the black and made these in M81 for the civilian market and not just MARSOC
Another mag that fits great in this rig is the Lancer L5AWM. I do agree that it's a pain the the ass that pmags don't work in it. Probably my biggest complaint so far.
4 mags is not enough, you are your own fire support. 50 mags min
I have serious question. You say you don't like doublr stacked magazines because you like to go prone. Yet this particular chest rig has GP pouches in front of your mag pouches that you've filled with gear? You're now running into the same issue. I personally believe you should have no less than 6 magazines on your person. Six mags, double stacked takes up very little space snd still allows you to go prone comfortably. You could move that stuff in those front GP pouches to the one on your side that you leave empty. Then whatever you wanted to put in that side GP pouch can go in the bag that you say you always have anyway.
I'm pretty happy with my modified TAP, it just needed a new H-harness, some kywi inserts in the front 4 pouches, and a new paintjob. The rest is whatever you feel like molle'ing to the front of it IMO.
Yep. This is the way. I like the usmc better cause coyote.
I'm experimenting with an UR-Tactical Easy Rig right now and my initial impressions are very positive. It was between that and the 5.56 Hybrid for me, ended up going with the Easy due to cost. Similar layout to the 5.56 Hybrid but with bare molle in the middle and 2 small sewn-in GP pouches off to the sides, it's quite functional for a more minimalist style of rig while retaining expandability with molle in the middle and off to the sides of the GP pouches. Plus it has no issues with Gen 3 pmags due to the discrete, slightly wider mag pouches.
Nova side eye at the end 😁
Came for the follow up stayed for doggo ! Heat stroke bad
Once again you have saved me money, frustration, and even more unused gear stuffed in a duffel bag...
If you want to block that LED light, use foil tape. It's light tight
I was going to suggest tape, much better than paint or ink.
Every time I watch brass facts I’m like hell yeah I should go ruck around and shoot in the desert and then I remember I live in the city in the Midwest 😂😢
Love the outro
Good video Brad Faxx
Whiteout to paint over your PTT light works ok
Not working with pmags is a no go for me on the chest rig.
"What the fuck is that?" Hahahaha i lost my shit😂😂😂
Just recently got introduced to Old Fashions ! Woo hoo
Nova pupper stay in A/C; iz gud.
That rear 'HX' harness looks pretty comfy compared to normal H or X styles. I'm guessing it does a pretty good job distributing weight over shoulders and back.
Dude doggo was beat at the end there haha
Try some gorilla tape over the LED's on the PTT, should do the trick. Nice as chest rigs are, especially for jumping in and out of vehicles, something you might want to look into for general purpose use would be the old-school "jungle rigs." You can basically carry everything you'd put into a chest rig and small day pack in one set of webbing that doesn't get in the way of shooting prone, and winds up being more comfortable to carry around than a backpack.
You can build one fairly cheap with a good set of suspenders (Crye's wrap-around set is really nice) and a molle belt sleeve if you've got some pouches lying around, or shell out a little more for a proper PLCE rig, or spend a good $300+ on a set of JayJay's, haven't found anything better than their Commander's webbing. Price isn't terrible after pricing out all the pouches, belt, and hippo pad, but the harness is extra, and the shipping is murder.
I've been trying to find a chest rig built around Kywi mag pouches, but I'll probably end up just building one out of one of their quad placards.
Nice rig
I always see you running that sandman S. It looks like it's been through 6-9 ringers. I imagine you're a fan of it. I've had two endcap strikes one mine and I'm curious if you've had any issues with yours? I love it other than the two hits i've had. Any tips or tricks for longevity on that bad boi?
I've got one as well 5.56 hybrid in Coyote 🤙
Lbt 1961g ftw 🙌
12:37 I hope I'm not the only that had a giggle fit for that.
Remember all that kit up front prevents going prone.
I lean toward 100 yards or less at the moment. Pistol and carbine share mags so it is convenient. I am looking into something to reach out further.
Yea dude u need a rifle
Just realized the music in your videos is like the pause / customization menu music from ghost recon woodlands.
In the video with Hop you mentioned how much you hated molle. I thought that was a bit overkill as it wasn’t that bad for me. Then, today I realized I was only using half of my molle. I now understand why you hate molle.
Glue the double dividers together make it one divider
I have a vel sys 556 quad placard with wtf expander wings. Basically the same rig, but I use both gen 2 and 3 pmags and never had a problem. I don't know if the placard is built differently
i think you should do a review on AKmax chest rig products. they are a budget tactical company. i thought you could do a video on budget chest rigs in general.
Just a reminder we're down to 70-75% magnetosphere strength.
My back hurts just looking at chest rigs
Liquid tape for the light on it if you want to cover it
Have you tried putting tape on the LED on the PTT??
Come to Florida. Flight Medic/Tac Medic with a training company. Hop a flight. We will house you and get you medical trained up. Time to do a refresher for the shooting group as it is
Talking about gloves... I just found my old gloves after something like a year.
They were exactly where they were supposed to be and yet I could never find them, for some reason
I think a piece of mylar blanket could block that radio light? Maybe.
The year has been hard on all of us
I’m a big dude so I have room for four mags. Seeing you show the mag situation, now I’m out.
Hey man, nice watch
What about something like a blob of black epoxy or something on the light on the mic?
Makes too much sense. Stab it with a phillips head instead. :)
Won't work with P-mags!? Wow. That sucks. Looking cool right up to that COMPLETE deal breaker for a chest rig.
Does anyone make a rig that accepts the Haley mag inserts? Those seem like a great way to retention pmags
Did you ever work on putting together a chest rig as you once spoke about doing? Are you still planning on trying to produce one?
This is kind of a joke question but is there still a place in the modern world for a condor cross-draw tactical vest?
Oh hey my dudes, it's Brass Friday with bonus sleepy Nova footage.
Looks like they added Molle in the back for an optional flat pack. Is that something you would ever consider?
I don't really see the point tbh. I want a real bag
@@BrassFacts what if you want to ditch the bigger bag and elect to take a smaller bag for essentials like ammo and water knowing that you'll return to your bigger bag after you finish a certain task maybe in an urban setting where mobility is crucial.
@@toddinfl Generally Ill run a PC with armor urban, but yeah sure you can. It seenms to be a paint to weave it in.
@@BrassFacts although living at a bug out location that is remote is going to be essential during shtf it will become necessary to return to an urban environment for supplies that have been left behind and going from house to house you can find those supplies. it's just nice to be able to ditch the heavier stuff that you won't be using in that situation so that you can find supplies and bring them back. Although you can use the bigger pack and go in empty and come out full sometimes a smaller pack is good enough for the mission
"Hughchungus" made the video for me.
Just put something with less light transmission over that disco32 - maybe like a putty or something - opaque epoxy. 5 minute fix.
instead of stabbing the LED's in the disco32, take it apart and de-solder them
I'm considering this and the new Trex rig. Are you planning to pick one up and try it or should I plan to decide without any Ass Facts input? Obviously you point out that you don't like double stack pouches, and they have the radio pouch on the inside so that would probably make it worse still.
Edit: fixed typos.
have one atm, I can tolerate double stack pouches. It's decent. It's basically a more expensive onward rig
@@BrassFacts Alright good to go, thanks. One more question for you from later in the vid, the issued pouches in the Marine Corps are tight for two Pmags, you have to soak the pouch and then fit two mags into it while it dries to stretch it out then it works. Have you tried that for the one gen3 Pmag?
Though they're older and batteries can be slightly more tedious to source (they can be rebuilt, that's another story) I love Astro Sabers. They're not as chunky as the XTS/APX line - nice and slim. They're P25 capable, same encryption potential and specs as the XTS3000s. Love Motorola HTs and Mobiles - all I use for 2m/440. Yes, you need to nerd the eff out to fully dig into the CPS but, in general, an HT with spectral purity, excellent selectivity and audio, that you can use to literally beat someone to death with? Not a bad thing to have :P
Try taping over the Disco 32 with hockey tape?

Rumor has it Hop will be going as Michael Jackson this year.. any chance you do a good McCauley impression?
Can dremel off pmag shelves to run in surplus mag pouches, they’re not really needed. Or just run stanags

Im running an esstac 556 chicom and I love it but the way the buckles sit in the back make it impossible with a ruck. Every chest rig I've tried so far has been the same, I have to tighten it so much that the sides slip into my pits and the buckles press into the back of my ribs etc.
