    Those are obviously not meant to be pistol mag pouches. King Size PayDay candy bars fit them. ;)

    Thinking from the perspective that my city just had major riots in 2020 one mile from my home, i think this chest rig is great for a grab and go solution for citizens needing to bug out and have a decent amount of ammo in addition to the bug out bag. six AR mags with four glock mags in the front, and a flashlight + leatherman in the remaining two pouches doesn't seem overkill to me. for $30, hard to justify Haley Strategic prices.. most of us aren't "operators" or seeing firefights in Ramadi, we just need to defend property or avoid civil unrest on our city streets. thanks for the overview.

    I took a thread puller, pulled all 6 of those little pistol mag pouch thingies and made this thing an actual usable rig without all that crap up front. Got a condor double pistol mag pouch and threw it on one of the molle sides. Sewed one of the deep pouches on the side halfway up so it holds a 30 rounder at a decent spot with the bungee. Added the hydro harness to the back. You can make this thing solidly workable with a little elbow grease.

    That rig would work over body armor, maybe in law enforcement applications that a deputy sheriff might use since they have to buy their own gear,. This would also work in a pickup truck out on the ranch. For those who might think this is ridiculous. I'm a older former law enforement officer who is a farmer, rancher who has been in situations that having such a chest rig would provide security to handle the situation until the Deputy could respond. You are the first responder.

    After watching this video several times I bought one of these and the hydration bladder carrier. I took a seam ripper and removed the center two pistol/whatever pouches so if needed I can get my happy old ass a little closer to terra firma when trying to secure some semblance of cover and concealment. It's a pretty nice rig, doesn't cost an arm and a leg and carries what I want and need it to carry. Thanks for the evaluation.

  • @NoGoodUnloaded

    Condor also makes the mcr6 that holds 6 mags close to the body and has 12 rows of pals across the front and some elastic on each side for other stuff. The mesh pouch is big enough to hold the water resistant map pouch and the admin pocket goes the full length of the chest rig on the inside and has loop to attach things. I think its the best chest rig they make because you can add the hydration harness to it for a way to carry a bladder and other small stuff.

    I have this rig and I like it. I ain’t rich so I don’t have the money to buy a higher end rig and all the other stuff I need. If the crap ever goes down at least I will have something. I got the hydration pack and attached it to the recon rig. I got the rip away small medical pouch, small gear pouch, roll up dump pouch, flashlight pouch and the tourniquet pouch. It was barely over $100. For just a plain rig of some other brands the rig itself was almost $200. I doubt very seriously this will ever get used but if it does I am confident in it. I have seen numerous comments on amazon from deployed soldiers using condor gear and it holding up fine. Some people just like to knock it because it’s cheap. I hear the same crap about PSA rifles and primary arms optics. Both of which are great.

  • @batarang02ify

    I keep this rig as my minute man load out. I run the 6 AR mags, 3 pistol mags, multi tool, flashlight, and OC spray in the front pouches. I will say that going prone is a pain in the ASS. So that's a weak point. BUT, when you attach the hydropack to the back and the front bib, it becomes way more modular...

  • @M81_WOODLAND
    @M81_WOODLAND Рік тому +2

    First thing to do is take a seam ripper and take that stupid X-harness hook and loop retainer off the back. Much more comfortable after that.

    I started watching your channel in light of the shit happening in our country and Ik I’m just a dumb marine grunt but I do feel that were on the cusp of a civil war/revolution where at some point we’re going to be trading rounds with someone who would like to kill me or my family. I agree with you brother, we need to wake up and go do. I’ve been an 0311 for 4 years and I’m on my 2nd contract, I’ve trained for 98% of those four years. I’ve never had too shoot anyone. I’ve been close. And even I am still training in my off time. All the time. I spend at least an hour a day in my gear doing dry fire/ speed reloads. I practice shooting as much as I can afford. I’m a firm believer that bullets don’t care about your combat experience nor do they care who you are and how expensive your gear is. They don’t care about your training or how proficient you are. So you better get your bullets out before the others start coming at you. Train hard and get what you can afford. What’s coming is going to require all of us to be ready. Instead of bitching at each other about condor gear and dpms rifles we should be communicating and forming together. I’d rather have 10 guys with 200$ PSA rifles and condor gear with training than the one guy with the 1000$ plate carrier and the 3000$ scar whose never been cold or dirty and doesn’t know what it’s like to be wet and cold. Thank you bear for preaching man I love your channel. Semper fi

    On the pistol thing, whoever you’re handing this rig and a rifle to may already have a pistol and a few mags to begin with.
    Maybe throw pocket smokes, distraction devices, or whatever else in the secondary pouches depending on what kind of stupidity is occurring outside that would necessitate handing out rifles and gear.
    Also, on using Condor gear for war, I used a Condor plate carrier during my 2010-11 deployment to Afghanistan as an Army infantryman instead of the issue IOTV. It worked just fine, took going to ground more times than I can count, and didn’t self destruct. In fact, I’ve got it hanging up in my closet.

  • @mediclimber
    @mediclimber 4 роки тому +1

    I bought one, and the hydration kit,. I added an EMT lite pouch with TQ pouch, dump pouch, small radio pouch, and holster. The center two pistol mag pouches are gone thanks to a seam ripper and it fits well and carries enough. It's my "downstairs" rig so I don't have to do wind sprints on the stairs to get to my kit.

    I think your current vest setup is much more usable and adjustable than the "recon" rig. I use a modified/updated webgear system similar to the old Vietnam LC1 gear, mainly with the newer belt cushion and molle pouches, a modified drop holster rig, and 2.5 liter bladder. It works for me. Previously I was using LC1 gear with four canteens, "H" suspenders and butt pack, and a chest rig that carried an additional ten 30 round mags.

    I ended up removing them with a seam ripper. The rig just looks so much smoother without the pistol mag pouches.

    A suggestion for your hydration issue...put water bottles/canteens in the pockets that are too deep for mags. The chances of you needing to give that to someone is low....to me, it makes sense to not dump money into a new hydration bladder just for the sake of...what? Looks? idk. Or, outfit a 72hr buddy pack that has an integrated hydration bladder.

    • @BearIndependent
      @BearIndependent  5 років тому +5

      Good idea on the water bottles; The reason I have buddy kits, even though *all* of my buddies have gear, is in case they show up "naked" in an emergency. Also, who knows who The Father might bring my way...

    I made the same mistake buying the chest rig first. Finally got myself a plate carrier with a couple plates. Now my chest rig will just be for a buddy. I also have the hydro pack for it which does help to balance the weight of the rig front to back.

I carry my hydro bladder in my assault pack. It’s more comfortable than carrying the pack over a bladder. I like it but honestly I’ve never done any hard training with it. Great thoughts, have to admit I had not considered putting in place "Buddy Gear". Only refugee buckets and send them on there way. You brought up a good point regards taking someone in regards long arms and side arms. Perhaps you could asign some your Cadre to cover quarter master and issue gear and someone to test the FNG
    Even if you land a VET or LEO, logistics personnel only handle a firearm during qualification, they out number trigger pullers (3-4 to 1) you might land a country boy or girl or city dweller who is firearm profficiant, but then they will need to come up to speed in other areas. Wow this could be a really good discussion breaking down the elements. Anyway just my random babblying sorry folks.

    As far as the hydration issue goes with it I think many of us already have a hydration kit of some kind anyway I have more than I can carry I like the rig because it's a maximum value it's suitable for field use doesn't cost too much comes with with magazine pouches integrated and I can just simply throw on one of my CamelBaks that already own know me personally I have plenty of this type of gear already but if I was looking for another kit to Cache somewhere I would consider it

      MOLLE
      Condor makes a bajillion and two (ok, the two might be an exaggeration. ...) chest rigs, and plate carriers. If you want to customize your load to suit your needs there are a couple that are just big MOLLE panels. Most of them can also ditch the shoulder straps, and replace them with a very nice hydration carrier.

    • @d.l.hemmingway3758
      @d.l.hemmingway3758 5 років тому

      I actually have three sets of LBE. Since I did Second World War reenacting for two and a half years I own an M-1 Garand and some WW-2 vintage and reproduction web gear. So with some surplus M-56 and ALICE gear I built a rig using the M-1923 Cartridge Belt as its base. Attached to the belt are an M-1942 First Aid Dressing Pouch, two M-1910 Canteen Covers with canteens and cups, an M-3 Combat Knife, an M-61 Field Pack/ Butt Pack, a set M-56 of long H-Suspenders and on the butt pack I attached an M-56 Universal Ammunition Pouch in which I built a first aid kit and straped a Vietnam vintage rubberized poncho to its bottom. I also built my AR kit using an LC-2 Belt, two LC-2 M-16 magazine pouches, another set of M-56 H-Suspenders, another M-61 Butt Pack with two LC-2 Canteen Covers with canteens and cups and a poncho with liner, a first aid and compass pouch with a tritium lensatic compass and two first aid/ compass pouches with pressure bandages.

      The third set uses an LC-2 belt, three M-56 ammunition pouches, a first aid/ compass pouch with lensatic compass and another with a pressure bandage, an M-56 Butt Pack, two ALICE canteen covers with canteens and cups. This like my Modular Chest rig is a loner.

      @@d.l.hemmingway3758 you have a lot !. Nice !. Maybe in a perfect world I could lay on my back or belly with that and not get seen but lol in recon it's quite a very hard thing to do man !. Actually they rarely notice you in plain sight sometimes if you are blending in with the environment !. Hence your stuff is very overwhelming" I'd say try a making your presents known act and I'd wager they'd indefinitely be alerted and watching out !. Tell me this" can what you have help in a real life situation where that the Kuku nest isn't their anymore" theirs is only chaos and havoc" would it help you survive in those type of situations because that's a thought worth thinking of !. Not to upset i'm actually thinking about trying to set up myself a similar set of gear man.

      Paul, the three kits were set up using gear I had on hand. Most of the sets are already weathered so they're naturally camouflaged. Also I don't wear all the same camouflage or same color in the field. I tend to wear neutral and natural colors mostly earth tones.

    I have that chest rig. Used it for a while then ordered the MCR4.
    From combat experience in the Battle of Ramadi, i dont like having the pouches stacked like the ones are on the Recon either....get stuck between shtuff while on patrols. (Too bulky)
    I thought about just cutting those pistol mags off.
    I moved my pistol mags to my belt and put single mag pouches on the new MCR4.
    Also...i havent found ANY use for the pouvhes in the back...mags just fall down in em. Lol
