    Good stuff! Nice thing about Chest Rigs is their versatility while staying relatively light, love the Leatherman Wave, I have several of those.

      @swampdweller1566  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely, being light is one the best things about it I think. And yeah there great multitools, I need to get a black one

      @@swampdweller1566 Yeah! I've got a Black and Silver one for Wave Tools, the Black finish does come off pretty easily, you're just as good rattle-canning the tool as getting a Black one lol.

    I dig it, very nice setup! I believe some of those smart water bottles actually are compatible with sawyer filter threads so u could keep a filter on hand to filter straight from your bottle if needed like some ultralight hikers do

    • @swampdweller1566
      @swampdweller1566  Рік тому +2

      Yeap they are, I usually keep a sawyer mini in my cargo pocket for that very reason

    very interesting point about gauzes and bandages being more relevant to stop bleeding...that's exactly what was explained to us last time the Red Cross performed a First Aid class at worksite, tourniquets (be it real ones or improvised ones with belts and stuff) are reserved for only the most serious cases of bleeding that happen on extremities (like completely mangling or losing a hand/foot, or a REALLY large and deep laceration on your arm/leg, guess also for large penetrative wounds like bullet wounds on the limbs), but for everything else pack gauze and pressure bandages are where it's at. Really useful informations, thank you for sharing and providing thoughtful insight!

    Nice and slick. Recommend tethering your items to the pouch or the PALS webbing. Paracord 1A (vs Type 3 aka 550) is great for this function.

    Excellent setup and well thought out. There are dozens of UA-cam ninjas running around the woods carrying tacticom (tactical comical) equipment trying to feel like a real man. Your equipment is sufficient for any use cases that a civilian might encounter.

    I think you went over everything except the name of the chest rig. It’s a velocity systems gen 4 to anyone wondering

    Hikers use the smart water bottle. All the time. They use it because it is light weight.

    I'm setting up a TAPS panel with the Spiritus upgrade kit. I'll move most of my pouches from my plate carrier to it until I can buy more pouches, and maybe even double up on gear. I can choose which one for the task, or have a setup I can toss to someone to help me.

    I appreciated my web belt and LBV-88 while walking on foot in the hot humid south. Butt pouch, canteen pouches, mag pouches, IFAK hold it all, while opening up your chest and back for airflow.
    I appreciate my Rhodesian rig in and around vehicles, when wearing an internal frame “backpacker” ruck, and also while crawling on all fours up steep mountains in the west.
    I hate my Flak, period. Hot, heavy, traps in sweat/precip, not great for playin in the water.
    Chlorine Dioxide has been proven to be more effective than the Iodine Tablets. The Liquid IV will make green skanky water taste less like Hobo diarrhea.

    The british plce webbing is realy nice for scouting/survival setups. I got mine more or less setup for a get home/patrol setup. Works great in that eye site not very good for vechile mounted ops tho

    What brand is your chest rig? Awesome idea. I’ve been using an old Alice LBE system for my swamp trips but have been thinking of switching to a different system.

    • @swampdweller1566
      @swampdweller1566  Рік тому +1

    Is this a particular chest rig, or just a generic brand or something?
    I've been looking for something that will let me carry 2 canteens in the armpit/ribs kind of like this, but I'd like to avoid a lot of extra molle weight.
    I like smart bottles too, I put a flip cap on top to save time & not lose it.
    I didn't even think of the tape idea, I may have to buy some 'camo' tape & copy that!

    • @swampdweller1566
      @swampdweller1566  Рік тому +1

      This is a velocity systems gen 4 chest rig. The side pouches won't hold an kind of standard military canteen or Nalgene water bottle unfortunately
