Bro i have an issues may u help me 🙏. I put into drive but the throttle will lagged bout 15 second .? Already change the diesel fuel but still same . How to fix it thanks
@@terrylim5799 Uhh...yeah. If your fluid level is low, then this VERY MUCH could cause the symptoms you're describing. HOW? When you transmission fluid is low, it's not being picked up and pumped through the system. After some engine temperature, the fluid expands, allowing it to reach the pickup tube.
Well, you have both the wastegate (which you really won't hear) that let's off boost pressure, but you're most certainly referring to the pressure safety release valve on the intake manifold. originally, this releases at 0.9 bar, but with age, may weaken and release at lower pressure. Mine in blocked off as seen in: ua-cam.com/video/mez2t4xYqsA/v-deo.html
@@judesanchezjr6929 ABSOLUTELY! This is what many do. However, you should have a boost pressure gauge first to be SURE not to over-boost your intake system. ;-)
Posting a video now of the intake / breather oil catch can. Now that that is installed, I will do a complete intake system clean. I'll try to post a reminder on this thread when that video is completed and uploaded. Thanks!
Hi mate awesome video so what exactly was wrong with the overboost valve the problem I’m having with mine is it is letting out of all the boost and making a washing sound I got told just to weld it up with this affect the engine
Yes, but the part that a wrench or socket would grab on to snapped off like pottery, leaving the threaded ring still stuck in the manifold. Luckily, it broke off large enough hole for me to fit a suitable plug. But, eventually, I probably will need to remove the intake manifold and do it properly.
How it's been your experience over boosting your SUV, I just puchase a 2001 Montero with the 4m40 engine but I'd heard some seying 4m40 is a bad quality engine, it suffer of overheating and the cylinder head is too weak, I mean, if you give credit all of those versions grandma driving is the only way a 4m40 will last.
Hello turbo tuner, I've got a SWB with a 2.8, just installed the boost pressure controller and completely closed it to bypass the wastegate, still can't go over 0.5~6 bars (7-ish PSI), I can hear the sound of the turbo hissing, So I suspect something is leaking somewhere. the over-boost valve is next on my list, but seeing how hard it is stuck in there makes me a bit hesitant. do you think there was a better way to remove it ? my goal is a 0.9 to 1 bar max. cheers.
Thanks for the quick reply. I have not yet removed/blocked the manifold pressure relief valve, I'll be doing that next, the soonest I'm able to. I'm also yet to touch the boost compensator diaphragm on the fuel pump; one of the four 10mm bolts isn't easily accessible (a tubing passing on top of it, unlike in your car).
@@offgridislandfamily I managed to get the boost consistently up to 0.8 Barg, with the membrane adjusted the car was really light from low RPMs, until the turbo gave up on me, it was already at its later stages of life (noticable shaft play), i also suspect i was running with very bad air filtration during agressif Sandstorm Season; the turbo shaft just broke in half at high load. A new OEM turbocharger later, and the car is basically brand new, that previous turbo was really tired. The remaining mods coming next (upping the boost further)
@@leichmanado Thanks much for sharing. Yeah...if your turbo is maxing at 0.8 bar, it's definitely on it's last legs! Why didn't you go with a Kinugawa or other upgrade turbo?
@@offgridislandfamily that would have been the logical upgrade, however availability is an issue where I live (Algeria); available after market turbos are cheap (not in price anyway) Chinese knock-offs only, and getting it delivered from outside would have cost me 3 times the price of the part. I'm very happy with the performance so far, the car is driving better than it ever did! but I'll keep improving on it. thanks I love your videos and learn so much from them.
Absolutely. In the video you can see that it actually breaks off, so didn't have any choice but to plug it using an aluminum and high-temp 'steel' epoxy. Been about 9 months and still holding strong.

HUGE. I searched every store in the province and couldn't find big enough...seems like about 34mm or more. Ended up buying a huge crescent wrench, which did the trick. I think I mention the size in the video and that I couldn't find the wrench. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks very much for the notice and question!
How can i upgrade to kinuguwa turbo? Any tips to look out for before upgrading td04 kinuguwa? Oil cooled for pajero gen 2? Pros and cons maybe?

Sounds to me like a fuel delivery...possibly fuel pump / distributor problem.
...you may also have a turbo pressure leak.
@@offgridislandfamily not on the gearbox issue?

Mine is still intact. The issue is: it always relieved at 1.0bar while power hasn’t reach its max. Any suggestion? Thanking you in advance 🙏
Yes. This is due to the blow-off valve on the back of the intake manifold. This must be removed and plugged.
When you lose your boost pressure do you hear a loud air pressure "hiss" sound, in the engine? do you loose power? if yes at what RPM?

Well, the overboost valve releases pressure at 0.9 bar, so won't let you run any higher boost than that.
where is the oil pressure switch at this engine
just to the top right of the water pump at the front of the engine.
You can put a pluming end cap...it’s just srew in 👍

My friend, i have a 4m40 and was recommended to swap it for a 4d56 no turbo, do you think is better? Where can i purchase parts for my engine?
I've always been a fan of a timing chain rather than belt. What city are you near?
@@offgridislandfamily why though?
4d56 no tubro will have no power at all so it will be more reliable.
Im in Nicaragua, this 4m40 is nice but here is complicated to get parts for ir

Yes! Exactly...overboosted at about 2 bar and now I am replacing the head and gasket. ;-)
Any oil leaks?
Well, the oil pan gasket was two decades old, so just replaced it. Still a couple drips, so checking the gasket again on Monday.
