No one has done black & white music videos better than Herb Ritts. Mariah Carey's My All is still his best, most gorgeous music video followed by Janet Jackson's Love Will Never Do (Without You). If you do film reactions, The Lighthouse (2019) is arguably the best black & white cinematography I've seen since Ritts.

Fun fact: Four of the guys in heels are in the Ukrainian boyband, Kazaky. Check out some of their videos, starting with "Love". Madonna saw that video, loved them and asked them to be her back up dancers on her MDNA tour, including this video.
I ❤ Kazaky! They are on again, off again, on again (I think they're currently "off" for more than 1 year... prob bc of current war?) and always come back with a different lineup and only 1 or 2 from the old lineup. I was hoping they'd gain more traction in the US when they worked with Madonna but they never really did 😕

One of my Top 10 M Videos. It's HOT. Absolutely right, the lighting makes the video and makes you Feel everything. Originally I didn't care for the song but the Video changed that and the Live Performance during the Tour is by far one of her best numbers of any tour.
Madonna did mostly everything first!! And all NEW artist just get their inspiration from her work. Great reaction bud.
this video was made by famous fashion photographers Mert&Marcus they have worked with all big fashion houses (See the new Versace AD CAMPAIGN ) to editorials in al the top fashion magazines , hence the amazing lighting . They are good friends with Madonna. This video and song are one of the best in Madonna's discography and videography and are so underrated and deserved so much more success. Blame ageism .

Girl Gone Wild on surface level is like ugh just another generic 2012 techno song but it actually is a major grower and an earworm and very strong as a single imo unlike many of the 2012 songs at the time. Just a great melody and great lyrics.

Always better with certain songs to have a visual experience along with it! Looking forward to “Rebel Heart”album - a suggestion since there are 3 versions of that album: the standard version, the Deluxe version (which to me is what should be the standard version cuz several of the deluxe edition songs were used on the tour and treated as main songs including the title track ‘Rebel heart’ which is only on the deluxe edition)…. The super deluxe edition with even more songs (is more like what should be consider a deluxe version)…….. so my suggestion is react to the deluxe edition over the standard edition cuz I don’t think u will get the full effect of the Rebel heart album if u don’t… it was made obvious by making the title track only avail on the deluxe edition and using so many of the deluxe songs on the tour, that that was meant to be the album…….the super deluxe edition can be an extra thing if u choose to react to that as well

I'm glad you like this video! I had a similar reaction when I first heard it. But the thing about Madonna is that all of her albums are concept albums and you have to see all of the content (the song, the video, the artwork, the live performances and even some of her live appearances without performing) to understand her overall vision and the experience she is trying to create. Even though Madonna is a recording artist, the songs never really stand alone. When you see the MDNA tour, I think the album might grow on you a little more. I'm with you- this is not my favorite album, but it still stands on merit alone when you consume all of the content that she intended. Good Job!

It was very fun to watch this reaction! I have to say this video and time period I don't know as well because this is around the same time that I lost partial vision and I didn't have access to the internet so I still need to catch up on these videos from mdna and rebel heart and watch them more often but I love the black and white too. Good pointers and I'll definitely be checking this one out more!

FYI. If you are not Catholic, what she says at the beginning is a prayer called the Act of Contrition. It is a penance either assigned by priest for absolution or just a traditionally spoken before sleep. I love Madonna. Madonna was named Madonna at birth. Here's what I love. She has been the voice to half a billion Catholic women who never knew that they had choices. Similarly, as her music and persona has bounced around this planet over the past 40 years, billions of other women have at least gotten a hint her message. From day one, over the past 40 years, she has consistently sent out the same messages. You don't have to listen to a man. You don't have to feel ashamed. You don't have to be afraid. Sex is good. Fun is good. Life is good. Life is tough. You have power. You have choices. Don't let other people or religion stop you from making choices. Making mistakes. That's between you, yourself and your God. Exactly as it is with men. Men and women are equal. We are all equal. Human. Everyone. This woman, Madonna, in my opinion, has made more progress for women's rights and freedoms, on this planet, than anyone I can think of. I'm a Christian. I am a gay man. I think the 2SLGBQ+ have stood up on their own and have consistently sent out the exact same messages. For over 40 years Madonna has championed us as well. I wish I could thank her for everything. When it came out, I watched the video 30+ times before I even clued in that everyone in the video was somehow transgendered? or maybe not transgendered? It really doesn't matter. Really, what's the difference. Great video. Great song. I still find subtle stuff in that song that I don't remember hearing.

I honestly dont know why people bothers so much about MDNA. Have some cool beat songs and others that reminds the 80s Madonnad beat. I do agree RAY OF LIGHT, EROTICA, CONFESSIONS are waaay BETTER but, still, a good álbum.

The best song too. This is when I dropped off the Madonna train i so happily rode since she debuted.
It was hardly cheap production.
I tend to think this video was more influenced by the video to Alejandro by Gaga than Single Ladies (also moody lights, also male dancers in heels). When it came out, it felt a bit like an "I did this first and will always do it better" statement. And before I get hate, I adore both artists and kind of hate that they get pitted against each other.
Baby try Jonte was already doing men in heels dancing. I don’t think Alejandro was inspiring anybody that video was so thrown together. The song was ok but would have been stronger with a better video. At this point Gaga’s work started to suffer by rushing through everything.
Looking back, Madonna still looks normal here, but I remember when her use of fillers went from noticeable and distracting during Hard Candy to prominent mainstay during MDNA and Rebel Heart to omg, more?! during Madame X to Resident Alien nowadays. I think she's going for her final form as Queen of Balloon Pop.

Well any woman at that age getting such procedures is not going to look natural. We’re used to immobile faces and shiny skin from being pulled too tight on all these tacky housewives shows. I do think madonnas face is healing and ultimately doesn’t look that bad if you don’t compare it to her younger face. The instagram filters and the ugly style clothes she wears now just make things worse. When you see her on television she looks better as she’s not just chillin at home making funny videos.
Keep in mind Michaels face was breaking off at like 40 and he barely made it to 50z Cher also looks like a mannequin for like 30 years. Give the woman a break. She can stop working and put a lot of people out of work for the same of our complaints.
Trust me MDNA was the last Madonna album I bothered with and I’m a die hard fan of hers.
@@taintedlife2618 Rebel Heart was her best album since Confessions. Can't imagine ending on MDNA which is still somehow less inspired than the inconsistent, experimental flop Madame X. As for Madonna's face, the first time I met her in person was during the Rebel Heart era back home in NYC. Madonna was barefaced and looked way better than many tabloid magazines made it seem. Every time I would have contact with her or the kids during work, they were always nice to me. The transformation of her face into something so unrecognizable is so disappointing.

This album has great songs like GGW, Addicted but after 10 years it doesn’t aged well.
I feel like this video (as beautiful as it is) is catering to her female and gay fans. I’m neither 🤷🏻♂️ so although she looks amazing the rest falls kinda flat for me.
