Guitar player here. The chorus is the best hook for me, musically. The beginning chugging riff is just them playing open on a 7 string guitar (B) but with the whammy bar depressed inward down and then letting relief up in just the precise locations while strumming so the notes are correct. As for the chorus, they take a regular barre chord but skip a string between the bass note and treble note and leaving it open to give a hormonizing effect. They then strike this chord with a quick slur to a higher chord then right back to the first chord (root chord) The 2nd riff of the chorus is then followed by the same structure of the whole "note-then-higher-note-back-to-root-note" achieved by a different technique in sound that's called a natural harmonic. That's what gives it that "ringing-tuning-fork" sound which is done by hovering your finger over the fret on a certain string just enough to make contact with it. The string resonates in a harmonic sound because it's somewhere between trying to be an open note but being also touched in a precise location to where it can't vibrate like it normally does and the disturbance interrupting the vibration sends opposing waves in both directions, one to the nut and the other to the bridge and then the wave travels back to where your finger is and kind of cancels out but with a resonation of frequency that generates that tone. The 3rd part of that chorus on guitar is followed by a whimsical little "ditty" that does attribute it to a very pop-like sound, like you mentioned in your video. The pop essence that you hear in this song takes you by surprise in a song sounding as heavy as this one. It still delivers and I think it's a brilliant move for a musician because a clever and catchy hook that can appeal to others that listen to other genres is what's helping get all the sheeple out there to hopefully appreciate a genre they perhaps once thought wouldn't be anything they could connect with. Hail the Apocalypse!

Back in 2019, a friend took me to see a band he loved, Babymetal, and Avatar - who I'd never heard of at that point - was opening for them. I ended up leaving that show at the end a massive Avatar fan.
Avatar is soooo good! Their live show never disappoints, I’ve seen them live 7 times and they always have high energy and a great show! And yes they are from Sweden!
Bloody Angel is epic!!! Tower is a more of a lullaby but you will get the chills from that one 🤘 From the new album you have A Secret Door, and the whistles in that song is made by Corey Taylor,,, cool song 🤘 Also has a video
I remember seeing Avatar for the first time at a single day festival here in Dallas, TX called Texas Mutiny Fest (that was 5 years ago and they haven't done one since. oof). They were one of about 25 bands, hadn't heard them before, but they stole the whole show in my opinion. They have a ton of energy live and Johannes is such a fucking frontman lmao. They've become a must see band for me whenever they come around. For another Avatar reaction, I'd recommend doing The King Welcomes You to Avatar Country. It's not as heavy as this one, it's a song that makes you want to groove and just have a good time. And for a different genre, if you're familiar with Helloween (and specifically their song Eagle Fly Free), I'd recommend checking out the cover done by Lovebites. Such a fantastic cover!
The singer (johannes) does amazing cleans too, and his range is fantastic. I swear he has so many vocal styles, all executed brilliantly. They are amazing live too, and so energetic, all of them. They are all extremely talented, and great guys too, and intelligent. Others have suggested other songs, and I agree with the choices. Bloody angel is highly recommended. I would like to add Colossus to the list, as something different but wonderful. And for a really fun video please try New Land. Nobody reacts to it. Its not their heaviest but its a great song and a lot of fun with that video. Smells like a freakshow too.... Also I suggest checking out both official videos and live videos. The Wacken concert is a great place to start with live videos. And if you fancy something intense and a video that nobody has reacted to, Blod, official live video. Silence in the age of apes, no cleans in that one but I love that song to bits. I'd better stop here...

The Eagle Has Landed, When the Snow Lies Red, Ready For the Ride, Blod, Tsar Bomba, and Paint Me Red are all great also. Honestly the whole Black Waltz and Hail the Apocalypse albums are masterpieces. Their other albums are great too but overall Avatar is just an amazing band.
