In a time when, "In a world" was the first thing the voice-over guy said in every other trailer. Trailers were epic back then.
Can you imagine what it would be like if voice-over guys were still being used today? "In a world... where vehicles are actually aliens from outer space," or "In a world... where superheroes exist."
i still miss the mith that spoke on every thrailer
Some people may not like Mel Gibson but you cant deny, he is one hell of an actor. Truly one of the greats
yeah,a good director too...
Yeah and Dumbledores got style
I mean Ransom, Mad Max, Lethal Weapon series, Braveheart, What Women Want etc. The man has been in classic after classic. One of the true titans of Hollywood.
I prefer Mel Gibson than the hundreds pretenders we have today as actors/directors/realisators .
Mel is like many of his generation the last who has guts in acting .
Wait people don't like Mel Gibson?
mel gibson in the 90s was the bomb
khav ll my favourite movie actor and director
GIVE ME BACK MY SON!!
A line in this movie that won't be forgotten.
Cinemania818
I've gotta agree I would like to make my own spoof when my character is angry in my own movie I've dream of making
GIVE ME BACK MY ACTING CAREAR
Cinemania818 son of the mask brought me here. The part where Tim Avery in the mask yells the quote to Loki
😂😂😂
That line alone is the only reason I looked up the trailer for this 😂 I always loved how the trailer ended with him screaming that on the phone. It’s just so comedically intense 🤣😭
I've seen the movie a million times, but still get goosebumps when watching the trailer.
One of my favorite Ron Howard films. Excellent acting, Excellent direction, fantastic suspense sequences, brilliant script and a "justice served" ending. Really great movie.
Such a underrated movie
This film is so underrated. People forget about this film which is surprising. Mel Gibson immensely dominated Hollywood in the 90's. Every studio executive wanted him in a movie and than when he won the Academy Award for Braveheart, his stock went through the roof so high that he was in his own league. Amazing actor and amazing director
My all time favourite of his is The Passion of the Christ
I didn't think I'd like braveheart as that era and that kinda story isn't my scene, it took me years since it's release to watch it. I was bored one day n thought ill see what all the hype is about. WOW! Boy, I was wrong, What an incredible movie that is. Mel Gibson is a Top director and actor. Love the lethal weapon films too
It's a blessing and a curse that the eighties and nineties were golden ages for tv and film because so many amazing tv and films came out at the time that it was hard for a lot of movies to break out or stand out. Ransom is one, another is Denzel's Devil in a Blue Dress which should've got Denzel and Don Cheadle Oscars easily.
And he hates The WB and "Xena" and was team UPN. "Ransom" bashed The WB (via them bashing the Daily News)
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
This is one of the most intense movie, having action, drama, suspense, and more. Good actors, I wish the movies now a days were filled with this type of heart and mind driven acting.
Senise was shown once in the preview. Kind of gives away that he was the bad guy.
I love the thrillers set in the 90s . Pure nostalgia!
Nothing like the 90s.
Gary Sinise was awesome in this movie. Good enough to get a Best Supporting Actor nomination imo
i agree on both counts 💖
That was for a different movie.
I watch this maybe 20x since its release and I still get chills watching my all time favorite Ron Howard films
Good movie. I own it. That major scene where they thought Sinise shot their son......I started crying. Even when Mel was out on his balcony and breaks down. Very emotional. Sinise and Gibson both did a great job!!!!!
i remember seeing this when i was 9. made an impact
I love how much kinetic action and over-the-top bravado 90s trailers used to stuff in to sell their movies. The trailers alone are entertaining.
This was a GREAT thriller with EXCELLENT performances by ALL the main cast (the cops and bad guys included).
I absolutely loved this movie!!!! Mel Gibson is an amazing actor!!!!
I thought this was the most powerful film I've ever seen in my life, and I was eight years old when my parents took me to see it that fall.
Braveheart, Signs, Ransom. These and other great Mel Gibson movies make you forget ol' Mel's kinda nuts....also, GIVE ME BACK MY SON!
It was great and so emotional thriller. Brilliant acting - Mel Gibson and Rene Russo
AND Gary Sinise. Can't forget him. Wonderful actor.
One of the best trailers, ever.
I miss movies like these at the cinema.
This and signs are by far my favorite mel Gibson movies
They’re both distributed by Touchstone
Gary Sinise and Mel Gibson ... wow, you guys are legends. This is a fantastic movie with top notch acting ... perfect in every way. Superb.
I would not call them legends. To get that title you have to be great and been doing this for an extremely long time. I would give that title to Henry Fonda, James Stewart, James Cagney, etc......
"You owe me a fist fight Doc!"
"Give me back my son Doc!"
😂😂
Personal shit aside, I LOVE Mel Gibson's movies. They're all badass
The main reason why I watch this movie is because of teh thrills, action and best of all....MEL GIBSON!
Good 90's thriller and at the time of me writing this it's available to vue on Netflix!!
Damn! Why have I not seen this movie?!
The iconic line give me back my son
This movie is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
For a long time until recently, I literally did not know Nick Nolte's son starred in this classic film as Sean Mullen. I remember first watching this film years ago when I was kinda too young to do so, as with all or most youths and former youths nowadays.
This film was just amazing
"in a world..." yay!
Underrated thriller movie ever.
this is one of the best films I have ever seen...
I remember discovering the line of Give Me Back My Son thru the top bottom 100 sequel Son of the Mask where Loki kidnaps Tim’s baby
This is a remake of a superb 1956 film of the same name with Glenn Ford, Leslie Nielsen, and Donna Reed.
I prefer Glenn Ford
Cool Did not know that.
Please tell me Frank Drummond was the villain.
love these old 90s commercials
Great movie! If you haven't watched it - do so now!
Uno dei grandi thriller anni 90! XD Quando la Disney non faceva quasi solo remake di classici! XD
imo, it's much better than taken..!
'Ransom' trailer + 'John Q' trailer = = tear jerking , pores raising, heart pounding emotional roller coaster. luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuvvvvvvvvvvvv iiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttt.
wish this was on iTunes
I Like That Favourite Quote What Mel Said: If You Still Had A Chance To Do The Right Thing. If You Don't, Will God Be With Him. There's No One Else Would Be.
This is literally the entire movie.
Perhaps a movie synopsis... yes.
Look at all the years that have gone by. Look at today and the kids. He stands by the people and what is going on the world today
I've been held for RANSOM from Branson Missouri 🇺🇸🌎🪖🪖🪖🪖, John Robert Bruffett Junior 🌧️🌧️🇺🇸🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️
It took me a while to get used to Gary Sinise being the good guy in CSI NY after seeing him in as the bad guy in Ransom but now I don't think I could watch Ransom because I'm now so used to him being the good guy in CSI NY.
You may not believe me, but when I first saw the trailer (yes waaay back in '96) I told my family, Gary Sinise did it. He appears once, in the last few seconds of the trailer. I thought, this dude is a huge actor (back then) why wasn't he in the trailer more. Then, I was like, "oooh, I see." Oh, yeah. Kinda Spoiler Alert. They should have done what Se7en did. Keep the killer out of the trailer. It was even Kevin Spacey's idea to not show him or have his name appear in the trailer. Oh, yeah. Spoiler Alert.
Speedy Gunz They played this trailer a lot. Before seemingly every movie. l did think it was strange that Gary Sinise is in the trailer so briefly but I never put it together until I saw the movie and I was like, "oh, now it makes sense."
Speedy Gunz never seen this movie but as soon as I saw Sinise flash a badge I was like, yup he’s the bad guy.
I thought that Sinise was the bad guy too, but my thinking was based off his billing. As shown in the trailer and all posters, he was 3rd billing so he was going to do something big. Lindo is not strong enough of a villian and I highly doubt it was a ruse by Gibson or Russo's characters in some sort of "company broke and used money to save son" ploy.
I was going to watch the movie, thanks for the spoiler will look for something else now.
do it! The ending is amazing
Great movie ❤️
FYI - Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins did the score for all the scenes where they show the kid tied up.
Gotta love the first narrator words "In a world..."
Mel Gibson you're the best actor and director at all times
Ransom and Taken. Great male leads playing badass dads!
great movie
it's very beaitiful and exciting movie
Now that's what I call a trailer.
This was a great movie!
Yep. Can't watch it ANYWHERE THOUGH.
Easily Ron Howard's best movie minus Backdraft.
Ron Howard’s best movies include The Da Vinci Code and Cinderella Man as well and I’m not keen about EDTV
GIVE ME BACK 20 YEARS AGO!
I wish they would put this movie on Apple TV
Where can i see the full movie
@georgelewis Yeah I saw this movie on Starz last week and I remembered how good it was. In fact, I just ordered the DVD.
The only movie that scared me as a child
Released excatly when I was born woahh

Regan: Mr. Gorbachov...tear down this wall..AND GIMMI BACK MY SON!
Powerful movie 😊
Madre me muero por verla y no encuentro una en español que miércoles!!!!
What can I say with out see the movie first. Only one thing , Mel Gibdon is great .
Pode botar o filme em português
Gary Sinise acts everyone off the screen.
+Bob .Grant Sinise is terrific, as always. But I don't see how you can say that about him in this movie, given Gibson's performance.
+Bob .Grant Gary Sinise should have won the Oscar that year. Not even nominated.
Sinise is a wonderful actor. From Of Mice and Men to Forrest Gump....he makes acting EFFORTLESS! Handsome too. Gibson was AWESOME in this movie. Very good performance. Also, nice to look at. 🤗
I remember this movie.

Ransom is Ron howard’s best thriller since The DaVinci Code
where can i see this movie?
Isn’t Ransom (1996) Now Owned By Warner Bros?
This movie is so awesome that everytime I watch it I want to beat the living crap out of Gary Sinise.
The theme at the end of this trailer is from Under Siege 2: Dark Territory.
Yup.
Epic movie..
I feel like they could remake this with Mel Gibson. It feels forgotten but looks amazing.
I just watched the movie and I liked it
show de bola !!!!
where can i find the whole movie?
If it was Hulk Hogan:
GIMME BACK MY SON, brother!
Hmmm... I wonder if the very prominent actor who's barely featured in the trailer but still gets his name announced could be playing the villain. 🤔
This is way better than Don’t Say A Word
I agree
Ron Howard's a god
This movie is a good example of corporate works. Money is more important than family. The poor will be poorer. Rich gets richer.
trailer gave me the chivers, deffo watching this
.....i was six when this came out
......damn
comparing movies that are almost 2 decades apart...NICE!!!
Thanks to the 2x for the reminder🤣
Rene Russo!!!!
I've come up with why Shaker kidnapped Mullen's son. Mullen was driving drunk and crashed into a car that not only had Shaker driving, but also his wife and kids. Shaker survived, but not his family. While Mullen was detained, he bribed the justice system to let him go, which they did. Shaker kidnapped Mullen's son in a bid for revenge.
