    Using hubby ID: My dad gave me both of my dremels one after I moved from my home town and the other years later when he was done with his. So they are fairly elderly models (mid 80s) even so, I have just got a new Damond cut wheel to trim the ceramic wall tiles I am using for a new bathroom back splash. I love my dremels and have been so glad for their utility so often. Great for house Reno’s, art projects and repairs. A great gift for a handy daughter even better for one who is interested in becoming handy. Great video!

    I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.

    One thing that you did not mention about when putting the bit that you should never push it down completely since you need to put some air gap so if you ever have problem removing the bit if it’s stuck then you can push it down to release the bit.

    When using the wood cutting mini saw blades... should the point of each individual blade go into the wood? I'm confused which way to install it onto my Dremel!

    • @XDIY
      @XDIY  Рік тому

      Hi Barbara, I'm not sure I understand your question.
      Please tell if you refer to the original or replacement wood cutting wheel and try to explain. What do you mean by 'each individual blade'?

    • @PurplePanda1105
      @PurplePanda1105 Рік тому

      @@XDIY 😂😂 ok, I just received 6 metal blades for my Dremel that are labeled on only 1 side with 20,000 rpm, sized from 22mm up to 44mm.
      Each one looks like a mini version of a circular saw blade! I guess "the point" I wrote of is the teeth of the blade!
      I'm not sure which direction to put it onto the Dremel and they stupidly didn't come with directions!!
      Should the labeled side face towards the Dremel or away?
      I don't know if that makes sense!!

    • @XDIY
      @XDIY  Рік тому +1

      @@PurplePanda1105 Yes, the sharp tips of the blade's teeth (point) should go into the wood. Basically these are not real blades... they just made some sharp tips on the metal, so the cut isn't so clean.
      Look at my video at 12:55 where I use such "replacement" blades, and you can see the direction.
      Such blades can be dangerous. Read the note I put at the description.
      I recommend to buy original Dremel blades which cut much cleaner and should be more safer. See at 11:27 (They are more expensive as well)

    • @PurplePanda1105

      If you need to cut long straight cuts on plastic sheets, I would check "Evolution circular saw" which has multi purpose blade. I have it but didn't try to cut acrylic, but only metal and wood, plastic till now. Read about it.

    Great video! I haven't bought one yet because reviews keep saying they aren't made now, anywhere near as good as before. They burn out quick and overheat. Is there a better brand with all the same accessories you can recommend? I really want a dremel but reviews are getting worse and worse everywhere.

    • @XDIY
      @XDIY  2 роки тому

      Thank you! I didn't try another brand yet, so I cant tell... but I assume that most of the accessories will fit to other brands chuck, since that there are not original accessories that fits Dremel, so I guess it's the same size.
      The accessories that probably won't fit are the Plunge Router Attachment, Flex Shaft and such other accessories that connects to the Dremel body. This is just an assumption... I'm not sure.
      In the reviews you saw, did it refer to specific models of Dremel (e.g. 3000?) or others?

    I've had several of these over the years and pull it out occasionally for some small inexact task. My experience as repeatedly illustrated in the video is that after using the Dremel on the work piece of work piece looks like crap. Build a box to put it in together with all the accessories which are small, fragile and easily misplaced.

    • @XDIY
      @XDIY  2 роки тому +1

      As I mentioned at the intro of the video, the purpose was to show a quick demo and not precise work, so some of the results doesn't look good.
      I think that getting good results when working with Dremel, is a combination of high quality accessories and precise work. Depending on the work you need to do, sometimes both are required, and sometimes not :)

    This is a great advertisement for this device Unfortunately, I have other experiences with this tool.Rapid heating allows you to work for a few seconds, then it must cool down . If you work one moment too long, the switches will melt, ignoring the temperature of the tool, which you cannot keep with your bare hand. I will definitely not buy another one, it is a tool for a modeller for many 10 years.
    Cutting thin plywood, as in this video, can end in the death of this device. It's actually hard to find a good application.

      It's not a paid promotion or sponsored video... I just shared my experience after over 3 years of use as a DIY'er. I'm not a heavy Pro user, but I use it relatively a lot.
      Can you please share which model did you use? I know that for example Dremel 3000 has some known issues.
      BTW, most of the reviewed accessories (original or replacement) shown in the video, probably can be used with other brands as well.

    eash ... ok you made a video .. well done. My guess that Dremel is now trashed/finished for any precision work. The bearing up front housed in plastic cannot stand up to the abuse you have given the tool. Your speeding up of video also hides how ineffective the tool is for doing certain jobs. I have had a few Dremels and quite frankly, they are overhyped. Some cheap Chinese devices costing a fraction of a Dremel can completely blow the Dremel out of the water. Dremel does shine with its attachments and the only Dremel I would buy is a decent cordless one.

    • @XDIY
      @XDIY  Рік тому

      No, my Dremel is still alive and working. I'm not a heavy user though, but a hobbyist, so I'm not using it everyday.
      Regarding speeding up the video - it's not for 'hiding how ineffective the tool is'. The video is long enough also without showing everything in regular speed. it sounds like I put it in high speed to fool the viewers... so, it's not.
