- In my Pro/Contra series I try to play devil's advocate and find all the arguments for and against an artist and entry winning Eurovision. Today we look at Italy's Angelina Mango! Can she win with "La Noia"? What do you think?

I can totally see this win. I think it has enough jury and televote appeal to come out on top. Maybe not by a huge margin given how open this year is but Angelina has a real shot to take the victory. ❤
I wouldn't call Marina Satti "also a young singer" lol, there is 15 years between them, she could technically be Angelina's mum :)

Interesting comment about the "not so memorable" aspect of La Noia - in fact while I was mesmerized by Angelina's performance, I couldn't recall many parts of the songs after the first listening and even after 2 or 3 listenings (and I studied music and play various musical instruments) - that's because La Noia relies mostly on rhythm and dynamics rather than the melody (similar to Zari in this respect). Then, this abstraction played a part in getting me more intrigued and interested in analyzing and dissecting this very interesting song.
Probably this less substantial melodic content is the reason why some are unable to fully appreciate this song.
I think your view is a balanced one.
Angelina is my personal winner, but as long as it stays in the podium it's alright... lower than third, that would be a rob.

I am surprised that no-one seems to care about the necessary revamp to reduce the song down to 3 minutes. We have not heard about the reduced version yet, let us see if the song will be improved, remain stable or become less interesting. I cross my fingers!!!
The 3 minutes version is out since the ESC album has been released!

I think the pro and con are actually identical. She is running the "middle lane", not only with styles but also between jury and televote emphasis. Whether it's distinct and powerful enough to be a ESC winner I'm not sure

Very interesting video! Let me say only one thing. In my opinion every country wich doesn't sing in its own language has not to win because it's not bringing its own culture to se contest. When a song is good it transmitts in any case. Singing in english is only a business thing! This is Europe and each country has it's language. That's not the "anglophone song contest". I think compared to Croatia; Italy has higher chance to get higher points from the juries.

I think Italy will win because she will both get alot from televote and from jury while Croatia for example probably will get the most from televote but alot less from jury.
A warm hello from Croatia! You're right - unless we get so many televotes to propel us to the top (which was the case with Baby Lasagna at Dora's, he got them by a landslide more than any other contestant - and won :))
I feel the jury has always been a bit conservative and not so inclined towards novelties and fusions such as our song this year is, so my guess is that France has a big chance with them (good voice but not my choice, though) ; perhaps this is about to change now and we will write history? 🌿
Anyways, crossing fingers for our energetic Team Lasagna 🎉🎉🐾🐾 😸 🇭🇷 to win! I think they will be followed by Italy and Switzerland.
All politics totally aside, besides our neighbours Serbia and Slovenia, I personally like Israel's song very much.

Italy will win Eurovision 2024!
In this edition there are many beautiful songs and good singers, and therefore there is an embarrassment of choice. I therefore imagine that for this reason there will also be a lot of dispersion of votes, and this could give a great advantage to the Italian song. Since the nations of Northern Europe and the Mediterranean Sea almost always vote only for the geographically closest nations, the only ones who can determine the final winner are the Eastern European nations. Even if Angelina Mango gets the maximum of 12 points a few times, it is equally very difficult for her to get zero points, and let's remember that Italy is among the "top five" nations that will be able to access the final without passing the semi-final round.

Surprisingly, La Noia is only sung 8 times in the song actually
I think you forget some other moments when it is sung. There are 2 times when she sings 4 "la noia" in a row, with the mini characteristic choreography, but also the choruses with è la cumbia della noia (total), which she sings 3 times and has 4 la noia each time. So la noia is said 20 times in the song.

That's because you don't adore the song (try to be honest to yourself)...I've come across some others with the same claim: it's overrated because of Italy. This is the very first time my favourite wins Sanremo - I was completely hooked after the very first performance and I didn't know anything about her nor about her dad or whatever other "excuses". Simply said, you and these others who make such a claim (overrated because of Italy) don't get it; don't worry...it's not your fault.
Are you also considering the singer or just the song? The reason why it's a favorite is because of how good Angelina is of a performer, not just the song which some people are inevitably not going to like.

A parte Torino, in Italia non abbiamo un altra arena adatta ad ospitare l'eurovision. Strano caso unico paese d'Europa la cui capitale (Roma) non ha una location adatta ad ospitare un eurovision, strano ma vero.

I really like Angelina, but the song isn’t for me. I just don’t enjoy the melody at all.
Just look at Sanremo televote superfinal results - only 16%, compared to Geolier’s 60%.
I think “La Noia” is just not instant and immediate entry enough, to appeal to wider audience, just like it wasn’t at Sanremo. She will be Top 3 in the juries, but not so sure for the televote.
The public vote was very messy. Angelina only came second because this time the Geolier's massive fandom voted. Many also voted just because he was from the south and they saw it as a revenge against the north.
Geolier votes came from napolitan mafia !
