I’m pretty sure they can just cut out copyrighted sections of videos with the UA-cam editor. I believe in his Megamind video, there was a small section that got cut out
Robots was one of the movies that people gave too much hate towards for the past decade. The worldbuilding was very fleshed out, the message was ahead of its time for animation, and despite the armpit & fart jokes it’s actually kind of funny. The pop culture references were also not super outdated compared to other references, since they chose ones that actually lasted.
Not to mention it's message about upgrading obsolete machines is all too familiar with planned obsolescence and the exploitation of consumers over items like smartphones and computers.
The Peanuts Movie is the most wholesome movie I’ve ever seen. They captured the essence of the comics extremely well, and all the characters are berry likable. And that’s why it’s my favorite Blue Sky movie.
One thing I like in Rio is how they didn't make Blu incompetent. Because it would be easy to make him completely loser who Jewel has to constantly save and teach about living and parting, and who suddenly gets badass in the emotional climax of the third act. But no, he isn't useless, he isn't burden (beside the no flying thing of course) and he has quite a few moments. Like the time where he climbed on top of the arbor with Jewel or how he mimicked dog's barking to scare off a cat at the smugglers. But possibly most important the dance off scene. Where in more generic movie you would expect Jewel to be the one to initiate the dance with Blu, instead it's the other way around. I like it. It makes it more believable as to why she fell for him.
I love that the trolls are a slow burn, you know the date but everything seems normal, but then you get that long pause and then you just brace yourself for the madness
While I'll miss the original ending, I absolutely love this new one. It feels just like one of your old UA-cam Poops. And your singing was immaculate. A 1000/10 masterpiece. Thank you very much.
The original Ferdinand story was a beautiful short story about how even though Ferdinand appeared to be rough and wild, he didn't hurt anyone when given the chance. He just wanted to smell the flowers. He looked mean, but was actually super sweet.

It’s sad that a toxic fanbase forced Schaffrilias to destroy a perfectly crafted and well spoken review just so they could be internally satisfied that “everyone” loves Rio and they weren’t wrong
I hate the second Rio, but it’s terrible that the Rio fans (I actually didn’t think Rio had a fan base, I just thought it was popular for the songs) couldn’t take Schaffrillas’s opinions about it. As someone who loves Rio, getting pressed over someone’s opinions about it is extremely petty and ridiculous. Schaff has every right to not like it, he has different tastes in movies and that’s perfectly fine.
@@Miniduck9013ya I love Rio a lot as well but like I wasn’t shitting on him for not liking it cause I actually understand other peoples opinions and that I have my own.
bruh, i always loved Rio in my childhood but the sequel was kinda forgettable. Then i saw the movies again last year and dude, i almost cried. That movie is just so fucking good, it might not have the best story but personally it's just one of the best movies because of my childhood. It had it's flaws but overall it's just a gem for me. Then i saw Rio 2 and i puked.
I'm so glad Schaff changed his mind on Rio 2 and it's posted on the most normal and most bland day in April. Yessir this is the most normal video of all time
I’m not Brazilian but I do feel passionate about the first Rio. Also, although I can respect Schaff’s opinions I have an opposing opinion that “Rio an underrated gem” and Blue Sky’s one great movie (8-9/10). [Edit, now that Nimona exists Blue Sky has their one truly great movie]. I find Blu such a loveable protagonist. I think Jessie Eisenberg does fit the nervous but great spirited brainiac character while giving off good comedic performance and I legitimately don’t get why Schaff said overwise to that. I enjoy his journey learning to fly which I believe is metaphorical to finding his passion and expressing himself to not just Jewel but his bird species that he is insecure from. As for Jewel, while she is less focused on and seems arrogant on paper, I find her to be a more interesting and even more likeable than Blu. She has tragic conflict with the humans who took her family and has grown to fight for herself but remains lonely. She has the motivation to not like Blu due to him being connected with the humans. However Blu ultimately shows her that some humans can be trusted and she doesn’t have to fly alone Even though Schaffrillas thinks Blu and Jewel don’t have chemistry, I believe their chemistry consists of Blu metaphorically learning to fly based on Jewel’s skills as a wild and fierce bird. Furthermore Blu’s intellect helps him and Jewel get through conflict they face such as smugglers. Ultimately what really brings them together is them facing the conflict of smugglers and finding their grace from the cultural influence of the city and the local spiritual Birds and the animal friendly humans. Truth be told I can go on about this movie because it’s really something special in my eyes. I still have problems with it. I understand If some of you Brazilian’s consider certain themes of the movie a little stereotypical and some of the jokes are kinda cheesy. However for everything else I appreciate about this movie. It gives me the will to congratulate Blue Sky for making something this special. P.s I don’t like Rio 2 at all and I genuinely don’t get how Schaffrillas enjoys it ironically
Ok, this was the most elaborate April Fools joke ever and I will now gladly explain it to those confused So, the original video was taken down due to copyrighted music at the end. The music could easily be edited out but James was getting REALLY annoyed by all the comments complaining that he put Rio 2 (a movie he didn’t even like) above Rio 1. As a result, he wasn’t in a rush to edit the video and see all the annoying comments again Instead, he uploaded this video where the normal spot for Rio 2 was taken out and was instead placed at the end to be the ‘real best Blue Sky movie’ to spite all of the annoying commenters. That way anyone genuinely offended by James not hating Rio 2 can just assume it’s an April Fools joke
Ok, so I come back from getting some tea, and I forgot to pause the video. When I come back, and put my headphones on, I hear schaff singing whatever the hell he sings near 39:00.
I am so happy that you acknowledge Rio 2 as the masterpiece that it really is! The part when Solid Snake teamed up with Vito Corleone and took down Voldemort in Isengard was epic!
Ya know most UA-camrs would double down on their mistakes or just brush it under the table in the hopes that nobody remembers it, but you not only admitted your mistake, but decided to do an entire rerelease with the correction publicly showing off what you did wrong and how that phenomenal song changed your mind. True King behavior. Thank you.
Out of all these movies, I'm still rooting for Robots to get recognized like Megamind. It's like a fever dream for a non English speaker kid like me. Of course I didn't appreciate it enough until I found it again years later. I think Robots has charming characters, simple yet astoundingly unique storyline whose meanings still hold true till this day, and for a animation film at that time from a less well known studio, I think Robots is very underrated. Maybe not everyone will agree with me on the story but the art style is so god damn beautiful and timeless with a retro futuristic vibe to it. No other robot animation film is as unique as it I swear (even Well-E, yes)
idk how else to put it other than the difference is that walle isn't a movie "about robots" and i have no idea if that makes sense but im going with it 😭
I wholeheartedly agree with the ranking of Ice Age: Dawn of The Dinosaurs (2009) for the PS2. It is the best Blue Sky movie and fighting dinosaurs as a mammoth was the best idea ever conceived. Edit: the Buck gameplay was cool too, riding dinosaurs was awesome.
Watching Jonah Who rank Rio 2 as the second worst Blue Sky movie and then watching Schaff ironically rank it as the best movie ever made me realize how truly all over the place some UA-camrs can be when it comes to ranking animated kids movies.
@@AtlasBlizzard yeah, like they made Jewel unlikable, had an unnecessary audition, and boring kids that serve nothing to the plot. I understand Schaffrillas’ opinions, but how is the sequel better? I get that Jewel and Blu should’ve had more chemistry, but it’s still a perfectly fine movie. I agree with Schaff that the romance stuff is kinda annoying, but Rio is sorta a romance that works.
The Manny backstory scene of the first Ice Age is genuinely a core memory of mine. I can still remember being a kid and feeling moved in a way that I couldn’t describe. Thankfully, I only ever watched like half of one of the sequels, so I at least get to remember the movie in isolation.
I love how you had to edit the footage of “Just Can’t Wait to be King” and overlap it with cut-ins to avoid copyright but I barely noticed it until the end of the song cause of how well it fit with ur beautiful song and those life changing lyrics
The exact moment I realized Robots was a BlueSky film, and that you claimed you didn't feel passionately about any of these films, I knew you'd go back on it lmao
I’m still mad that Disney closed Blue Sky Studios. I thought they were a really good animation studio. The first Ice Age movies, Robots, The Peanuts Movie, Spies in Disguise and Rio are really good. They had so much potential.
I know the whole daughter cliche thing was annoying in ice age, but as someone who lived through and is still living through them, It’s actually comforting… the whole 5 movies played a role in my life and I love them for it
For me, Buck saved everything. I like Ice Age 5 only because Buck"s in it. Even in Buck Wild adventures, he is the only good thing in it, despite the bad animation. As always, Buck saves the day!
My heart and soul hurt for any of the ice age criticisms 🥲 It was my childhood and I couldnt bear to see him trash talk my comfort movie so I had to skip it My mom said ice age 1 was my first movie and I kid you not- I watched that over and over and over like a psychopath child the whole day and laughed a lot I don't really like other movies from the series other than ice age 1,2 and 4 but I gotta defend my childhood memories
@@SD-Teru Yeah he was a litle harsh on them. I didn't like how he tore them apart either. And I'm sorry you didn't realy like Ice Age 3. Of course, I am very fond of Ice 1, I love it, I always did, it's beautiful and incredible emotional. I think it's the only Ice Age I cried while watching it (besides the scene in Ice 3 where Sid says his goodbyes to his dino "children")but nothing can defeat Buck. He is the BEST, and will be the BEST thing about Ice Age. When I think of Ice Age, the first thing to come to mind, it's Buck.
@PumpkinHead1021 The only thing that's realy BAD about Buck Wild it's the animation. Sure, it realy sucks that the original actors besides Pegg didn't return, but maybe somehow it could've worked if the animation was good. But yeah. It's not. The animation from 2022 it's worse than it was in 2002 when Ice Age first came out. Dishonor on Disney, and dishonor on whoever was in charge of animating Buck Wild. They destroyed Buck's own show and that's a CRIME
@@SD-Teru yeah, same here. As a kid, I loved ice age. it was just fun to watch. i watched the first four like three or four times on dvd and i never got tired of it. Maybe the criticism was valid but the child in me did not take it well 🥲
Río is waaay better in the latin spanish version (the one with the local phrases, not the neutral spanish one), voice acting is really cool, it really sells the characters.
Really my only criticism of the Peanuts movie is the Red Baron sequences. They were just bland and didn't really add anything to the movie. Otherwise, easily my favorite Blue Sky movie, and one of my favorite animated movies overall! Beautiful, faithfully adapted style and animation, genuine moments, and a heartfelt story and characters culminate in a very well done film!
Yeah, it's my favorite Blue Sky movie as well. I rewatched it recently and man it's as good as I remembered. It's a real wholesome and heartfelt movie. It's one of those movies that I can rewatch over and over and not get tired of it.
I remember watching Ice Age The Meltdown once, and my parents came home, and my mother saw a bit of it and asked "Is this Lion King?" I don't know what to think of that. I just think it's funny.

I watched spies in disguise because of your original ranking vid. Its actually really good. I'd love a whole series set in that spy universe exploring different outlandish conceptual technology.
I do consider Nimona Blue Sky’s creation, since It was 75% made by them before shut down then finished with some company support but keeping the original directors and other Blue Sky employees Given it’s positive reviews from critics and audiences it’s safe to say Blue Sky finally has an objectively great movie. Schaffrillas even gave it an 8/10 It may not be their Spiderverse but (like Mitchell’s Vs The Machines) Nimona is a better movie with a female protagonist than Dreamwork’s has ever done. Blue Sky and Sony outdid Dreamwork’s In this regard. Sorry, I love Dreamwork’s but I wish they would make a movie with a female protagonists that’s actually really good. Ruby Gilman is not one of those movies.
What about Monsters Vs. Aliens? They had a female protagonist. Was that not good? Wait, why are you even concerned about what the protagonist has either a peepee or Va jay jay? This is why movies are starting to become dumb. Because you people are totally concerned with stupid social justice than entertainment that movies should be made for🤦♂️
@@astro_9707 Hey, same guy but different account speaking here. A lot of stuff younger me said on that "FinalMountain" account doesn't hold up. I realise I was a bit harsh on Dreamwork's with that comment. Nowadays, I'd say Dreamwork does have well written supporting female characters like Fiona, Tigress. As well as some good ones from their hit tv shows like Pidge from Voltron. They just sometimes fall flat with films that attempt feminine themes and/or a female protagonist (i.e Monster Vs Aliens or Teenage Kraken). Hopefully they will succeed with this in future films. Also Wild Robot does look interesting. And I'm tempted to read the book myself.
I wrote this comment on the original video so I’ll say it again to preserve it: I love that Schaff (or the editor for the _Rio_ section) used the _Angry Birds_ version of Nigel’s villain song. That’s still really cool.
so even though the original ending of this video is gone and is replaced with an (admittedly brilliant) shitpost, I do want to say that it really sucks that Bluesky never got to finish Nimona _as bluesky_ now the film is out. it would have been their spiderverse, its such an amazing film which now serves as a swansong to a studio which was finally getting somewhere rather than a jumping off point for potentially more amazing projects. Nimona is that 10 out of 10, that massive high point that bluesky needed. and they never really got it. and I think thats a shame.
In order to accept the peanuts' move as one of the best animated films is the fact that it stuck with the original characters' design and behaviors that were seen in the specials and the comics years ago. The fact that the only thing they changed was snoopy's love interest and that random pop song at the end of the movie really showed how far the animators were willing to go to keep the story original with out boring the people watching. And also the red barron was a conflict with snoopy in the comics and specials but they made it more interesting
The Rio 2 section do be funny, but I miss the section about him bringing up Nimona. It felt good to see it get some recognition, and I did wanna see see how he reacted to it being picked up by Netflix
Glad to see u changed ur mind about Rio 2, I was rly mad when u rated it at the bottom in the first rating, but now I’m glad u saw because it’s a freakin mastermpiece, like it makes puss in boots 2 look puny. Everything about it was perfect, glad to see u saw it too 😊
this was actually my first schaff video so im happy to watch it again. I'm a big blue sky person for personal reasons and watching somebody who doesn't know anything about the studio review the movies is so funny and heartwarming. also it introduced to one of my favorite youtube channels! so sucks for you, no prank here.
Blue Sky is everything you say it is, but I gotta say, Ice Age 1 is one of the most underappreciated movies of all time artistically speaking. The story and characters are genuinely really wonderful, and the humor is WAY better than people remember. Like I dont think people even realize how genuinely funny the movie is
I'm kinda sad no one ever highlights the humans in Ice Age 1, and how the franchise itself kinda forgets they exist, because they are one of my favorite parts of early 2000's animation.
What I like so much about Ice Age 1 is that the movie wasn't afraid to show a dark and sad premise for the audience. The scene where they enter the cave with the cave paintings and where Manny cries because he lost his family (at least that's what he thought) is a really heartfelt moment. Not only that, that's why Manny gets the realization why he had to protect the baby and bring him back to his family. Love how this movie has good comedy and heartfelt moments into it. Love this movie to the bottom of my heart.
Just in case no one knows, the Rio 2 segment is Schaff quoting one of his old YTPs that was a mashup of Nostalgic Critic Disneycember (and Dreamworks) reviews.
Rio 2 was so good of a masterpiece that Disney didn’t want Nimona to take that elusive best Blue Sky film spot, so they scrapped the movie and even the studio because how can any other film compete with Rio 2 (besides Nimona)?. At least Nimona was uncancelled by Netflix of all places. (So I unironcally hope the Nimona is a good film.)
35:48 I love how Schaff is just parodying that Nostalgic Critic line that was used for Home on the Range in his Disney ranking video. I have no idea where that line is from but it’s gold that he sounds exactly like NC saying it
I always loved Epic. It's a generic story, yes, but the distance between Mary Jane and her father just feels so real and genuine. And the whole hidden world aspect, while it is very generic of course, is just a bunch of fun.
The rio 2 bit is a refrence to a nostalgia critic ytp called "doug walker's glowing review of shark tale" schaff did a while back, brings back memories actually
The explanation of what happens in Rio 2, is so incredibly accurate, that it’s shocking! I remember it vividly now!!! Amazing! Thank you for reminding me of this fantastic piece of art
I love how, rather than simply reuploading the original video with the copyrighted music at the end removed, james completely removed the rio 2 section of the vid and redid the entire ending to him meme praising it as an april fools day joke. I bet the people who originally criticized him for ranking rio 2 over the original despite not liking it as much as the original must REALLY like this "fixed" vid
Ice Age is remarkable in that it has a gradual downward slope of becoming less and less grounded until it becomes completely ridiculous, in the least fun way possible, while trying to play it off like the series was always like that.
Schaff has seen the light. Whoever doesn’t have Rio 2 in their top 10 best movies are deluded in their minds! Rio 2 is a classic that will be adored for years to come

When I watched Nimona on Netflix, I actually forgot that Blue Sky was working on it and was pleasantly surprised to see them in the credits
There's an alternate universe out there where Blue Sky actually released Nimona, and somehow singlehandedly save themselves from oblivion.
I still wonder to this day what they would’ve done afterwards. Probably another Ice Age movie, if we’re to be honest
@@silashurd3597 Ice Age 7 or 8 (I've lost count) and then probably robots 2 if we were lucky
As a kid those jokes were iconic, so they did their job well. I quote them to this day. "AUNT FAAAAAAANNY"

It’s also VERY well animated in a big budgeted way! Love that movie so much as it’s genuinely a great film!

Nimona is good af, it has great animation, story, humor, and the funniest character name of all time, Ambrocious Goldenloin
I also love that name, but it can't beat the magnificent names in Lake Michigan Monster
Yeah, and the fact that Ambrocious is voiced by Eugene Lee Yang from Try Guys is a win-win.
as a brazilian, i genuinely think Rio is a really really good movie and i love it
the brazilian VA for this movie is so fire, you have no idea
However Blu ultimately shows her that some humans can be trusted and she doesn’t have to fly alone
Even though Schaffrillas thinks Blu and Jewel don’t have chemistry, I believe their chemistry consists of Blu metaphorically learning to fly based on Jewel’s skills as a wild and fierce bird.

Ok, this was the most elaborate April Fools joke ever and I will now gladly explain it to those confused
So, the original video was taken down due to copyrighted music at the end. The music could easily be edited out but James was getting REALLY annoyed by all the comments complaining that he put Rio 2 (a movie he didn’t even like) above Rio 1. As a result, he wasn’t in a rush to edit the video and see all the annoying comments again
Instead, he uploaded this video where the normal spot for Rio 2 was taken out and was instead placed at the end to be the ‘real best Blue Sky movie’ to spite all of the annoying commenters. That way anyone genuinely offended by James not hating Rio 2 can just assume it’s an April Fools joke

so even though the original ending of this video is gone and is replaced with an (admittedly brilliant) shitpost, I do want to say that it really sucks that Bluesky never got to finish Nimona _as bluesky_ now the film is out. it would have been their spiderverse, its such an amazing film which now serves as a swansong to a studio which was finally getting somewhere rather than a jumping off point for potentially more amazing projects.
