If they are getting sprayed by what I would think are high pressure hoses, it would be hard for the pirates to use their guns while someone else could unhook the ladder and bring the ladder up onto the ship so they can't retrieve it.

@@GeoBGO Just because they don't have clear line of sight doesn't mean they can't shoot you, especially if they notice the ladder is being messed with and pull away to get a line of sight. Not to mention if one of them jumps on the ladder while the person is trying to get it off it's going to be much harder if not impossible to get it off in time because of the added weight of an adult weighing it down. And by that point it's too late for the person fumbling with the ladder to get to safety, the pirates will be up the ladder before they can even make it halfway back to deck. And at that point worst case scenario is the ladder guy gets shot in the back and killed, best case they are taken hostage which is explicitly what the captain wanted to avoid in the first place.

I would be at the ladder, Its only one boat, the first one, i take as hostage and take his weapon. Or just lift the ladder cause those guys don't have much weight :) They have probably just one ladder so you could take the ladder as soon as it hooked up. I believe this movie is what gave NATO countries ships to have the right to use contracted "security" to use lethal force against piracy attempts. The whole world was tired of it, Russia sent their navy out destroy piracy before the time this movie was made.
