He always kills it live! Some people can produce in a studio with their electronics, but Jonny always brings it live! A great man and a great musician!
Can you relate to the music? That's all that really matters. I have seen Jonny Lang live many times and he delivers. Heart felt. I don't compare him to anyone. Just love what I hear.
This guy has to be the best modern blues player around right now....he's been playing three years my senior and I'm amazed that he's this goddamn good!
Jonny's music is AMAZING! What an awesome guitarist and vocalist! Any music like this makes me want to smile, walk down the street with a little pep in my step, and just have a positive outlook in general. So happy to have music like this in my life. Are you?? :-)
I was lucky to see Lang when he was 15 he was amazing, and had an amazing voice at his age, and just an amazing guitarist..Lang will always be known for his guitar and his soulful vocals, i concur with everything you say sir!
You probably haven't heard John Mayer's real guitar work, then. Look up his live performances here on UA-cam, especially his work with the John Mayer Trio or from his Where the Light Is DVD. I love both John and Jonny. :)
I like both Mayer and Jonny, I also like Clapton and Jimi why does it always have to be a competition with you people. It is music, and good music is good music..period.
@leatherwings007 Not in this one - those are real-deal Fender WRHB's and a Duncan P90 in the middle. He has since swapped out that same set up in his Blackburst and the Redbust CS thinlines to the Lawrences with the Duncan in the middle, still. This is his first Fender CS thinling...hasn't been seen out in many many years, so not sure if he swapped the p'ups in this one or not.
@Master6String Well put, it is quite annoying to read petty comments based on emotional distortions as to the abilities of various artists. Music is not a contest, it's art, and any who can rise above through fan devotion, whether large or small in scale, must have something to offer in that regard.
I completely believe that John Mayer's recognized inclusion into "blues" does indeed diminish the greatness of other players before him. He chose to sell out instead of pursuing greatness in jazz so that disqualifies him, and as to his ability, we may never know if he was technically great enough to stand amongst the greats, because he does not play blues. Maybe he'll surprise us like Hendrix did with a blues album that was freaking amazing.
me 2, but its a non-compare. Mayer is bluesy Pop/Rock/Adult. very well done, very polished. Lang is a bluesman period. Raw & dirty blues. I think Mayer is a more technical instrumentalist & Lang is the better vocalist. Both have beyond comprehension craftmanship and both at the top of my fav. list.
@Featherpen0517 im sorry but i must respectfully and completely disagree! the topic of him selling out is a complete other discussion but nothing about john mayer being recognized as a blues musician diminishes anything the greats have done. if you look at his work with his trio is all blues grove. infact he is the closest thing to bringing blues mainstream since SRV. he is versatile and to say he sold out is unfair.
Holy crap! This sounds better than the studio version, he is insanely good!
2:44-4:45 is exactly why he's the greatest live performer on the planet
He always kills it live! Some people can produce in a studio with their electronics, but Jonny always brings it live! A great man and a great musician!
Want a bad a** Jonny Lang the world should wake up and hear your GREATNESS

the tone that les paul in the intro is perfect...... its THE tone.
Ollie Townsend it's the great Paul Diethelm on rhythm guitar. That looks like his 1958 reissue LP. The tone on the intro is killer.

@NSoncrant24 I like your attitude ...good music is good music!! It's not a competition, it's harmony!!
That’s such an amazing song
@lapwiz apparently, the pickups are a Wilde Bill Lawrence L500L in the neck, an L500XL in the bridge, and a Seymour Duncan P90 in the middle

Agree with rentapec... the les paul tone rocks...awesome.
I like both Mayer and Jonny, I also like Clapton and Jimi why does it always have to be a competition with you people. It is music, and good music is good music..period.
Fantastic
I love that telecaster....yeah
Interesting pups on that thinline tele. two shiny humbs on the bridge and neck and a single coil in the middle position. I wonder what those are.
Dunno if you can download it, but this does look like it was played at Austin City Limits. I'm sure they have the dvd/tape on hand for a price maybe.
very well!!you are fantastic and magic!!kisses for you!!
@NSoncrant24 Loius Armstrong summed it up: "If it sounds good, It is good"!
if you don't give what you get then you get noting from life

That LP intro is totally bad-ass!

@Master6String Well put, it is quite annoying to read petty comments based on emotional distortions as to the abilities of various artists. @15000volts That's a giant heat sink, like you find on PCB's to help them run cooler. This one keeps his guitar from bursting into flames. ;-)
Make that sucker SCREAM boyo! Hell yeah!
I hope I'm invited.

@Master6String
Couldn't agree more!
This guy is pretty damn badass
Your comparing apples to oranges ... Jonny far supercedes John's talent !
Humble and very hot let alone talented uncompared. What a package! Ill take it!
hey i played guitar with that guy at the beginning.

John Mayer has sixteen accounts on YT
I Think he should turn like John Mayer

Don't you really mean 0:00-5:07?
Damn. Thought this was a New Radicals cover. fooled me.
No, tashman8, Gavin Degraw has a similar vocal sound to Jonny lang ;)
