    Products I Recommend And Use:
    I get asked this all the time...which beginner guitars do I recommend?
    Electric Guitar: Yamaha Pacifica. The most versatile electric guitar for the beginner and beyond. they do rock, blues, jazz and metal and anything else you can think of! I LOVE them!
    amzn.to/3gecQ8R
    Acoustic Guitar: Cort AF510 - These have a folk sized body, which is a smaller sized body better for lady chests, and coffee bellies. I've sold lots of these guitars to students and they're impressively well put together. I always have a bunch in when I teach my live guitar classes at my music school.

    🤯🤯🤯Those are the 14 minutes that I never understood in my life. Now I finally know why the blue note or bendings slides e.t.c. just a connector to continue playing over the whole neck. Thank you very much for these 14 minutes which I have been looking for since I was 12 years old.

    I've always called this idiosyncrasy the "B string offset", applied when crossing from 3rd string to the 2nd string, or vice-versa. It's such an important thing for frustrated guitarists to understand. I've never thought about string pairs before & not sure why I would need to, but I appreciate different conceptualizations. Enjoying your videos.

    keeping the string trees lubricated and the nut slots and saddles can help -
    also,
    before tightening up each string -
    when putting on new guitar strings -( yet still snug )
    on your strat / tele type guitars
    you can press down on each of the strings
    about ½ cm
    past
    the edge of the saddle towards the neck
    also just past the nut
    press down on the string towards the first fret -
    SRV
    his
    guitar tech
    explained this in a video on UA-cam
    < mojo tone >
    hopefully this can be helpful for some folks
    depending on folks playing style and guitar

    What a great way to start a Sunday morning of guitar practice. Ricky, you really do demystify the guitar for us. Watching you do this makes all the little pieces fit together. Thanks so much for doing this. Hoping for a second book soon!

    Thanks Ricky, got a question for your previous video on modes, what I'm curious about is when would you use a certain mode?
    For example D Dorian is 2nd mode of C Major, but in what situation would that be used and why?
    Anyone know?
    Thankyou

    • @rickysguitar
      @rickysguitar  Рік тому +1

      Eyup Raj! For modes think "Moods". Music is the language of emotion. You use modes to create specific emotional connections with the listener. I did a video on hearing the modes and how we associate them emotionally. ua-cam.com/video/1Vf9_OVr3yM/v-deo.html

    Wouldn`t it be a lot easier if the guitar would be tuned all in 4ths?? That third between the G string and the B string sucks.

    • @rickysguitar
      @rickysguitar  Рік тому +2

      Some folks like P4 tuning. Not me...I love that dumb kink in the tuning. Because human beings love patterns and habitually stick to them it means you end up playing "habits" not music. That kink is an obstacle that disrupts your thinking and in doing so forces you to be creative. It's worth trying P4 tuning if you have a spare guitar knocking about just to understand the fretboard a little better. BUT, you'll notice your easy to hold D and A shapes have gone.

    • @rongallipoli7701
      @rongallipoli7701 Рік тому +1

      the G-B string pair is very useful for constructing chords! Figure out the fingering for some minor chords on a guitar tuned all in 4ths and you'll see why the 'kink' is there...
