Correction: when you sing "do-ré-mi", those are the notes's names in the european system (Do= C, Ré= D, Mi=E etc): you should then call their correct name, like when you start playing B-C-D-E, it should be Si-Do-Ré-Mi... ;) Thanks anyway for the great content !
When you played those notes on the A-string, my brain lit up instantly. It's the Cure's song "Boys Don't Cry!"
I like your teaching approach. Purchased you book to support your efforts! Keep up the great work, cause you are an important teacher on UA-cam! Many students of guitar will benefit.
Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot!
@@rickysguitar Wonderfully done Ricky. I know UR doing Majors right now. Do U suppose that in the early days, they valued minors? i.e. , the alphabet begins with "A". Piano teaches "C Major" then it's counter-part "A minor". Hendrix posited "if 6 were 9" . What if C Maj was really A Major? Those old Guys drank wine- They could have forgot(I'm trying to make U laff!).
Brilliant. Easy. Nice one Laa.
great teacher
This is the one of the best explanations of this I have seen. The combination of
visuals, verbal, enthusiasm and hands on works so well. I am looking forward to exploring your channel.
Thank you very much!
Your teaching style is brilliant. Thank you!
Wow, thank you!
Best teacher on the web….by far. (I’ve tried MANY of them)
Cheers Rick!

Hi Ricky,

As always your ability to pass on guitar knowledge in away both new and season players can internalize is unmatched. Thanks for being you, just picked up a copy of your book on Amazon to help support the effort. Keep on rocking and teaching Ricky!!!
great lesson. this took me a long time to understand modes. once I realized that they were all variations, modes if you will of the major scale!!
your work has been massive for me, and the book is a wonderful resource. thank you!
also my condolences on the passing of HM the Queen.
❤️ from the colonies
Thanks so much..Brilliant…Just the best at explaining!
Love your lesson. The book is insanely easy to follow and simplifies some aspects of theory that I couldn't get.
Ricky.....you are ...a great tutor.....thankyou...Keep the great work going friend...michael🎸🎸
Easiest way to remember the major scale is just to remember interval 3-4 & 7-8 both are a semitone everything else is a tone. 😊
Thanks that helped and seeing u count the formula on the guitar helped
Awesome lesson 👍😎👍

How can we read Stuff notation easily while playing guitar.
Awesome sauce

Across the strings please?
The Maaygur scale 👍
Nar then! Wots ta sayin?
My way I say it is no sharps or flats between every body e-f b-c
7 notes in the alphabet. Where did the other 5 notes come from to make the 12th fret the octave ?
Pythagoras, the triangles dude went on a mystic journey to study with the Chaldeans, (same folks as the 3 wise men some say). They said "Here's a monochord", (1 stringed instrument). "Understand that and you'll understand the universe and nature of God". He worked out the ratios by dividing the string and came up with 12 tones. This is why we have 12 notes and therefore 12 keys. I also think this is why music is the most magical of the art forms. Pretty cool isn't it!
Brilliant thx
Hi Ricky I recently watched one ofyour videos and it was taling about the D min cchord...it was saying about which finger to put down first (or maybe which NOT to place first). Could you remind me of the advice, |It's a chord that I still struggle with! Thanks
{Whole-Whole-Half Whole. Whole-Whole-Half} - break it down, look for patterns; easier to remember (W-W-H- W W-W-H)
Is it the major scale if you play it in reverse . Starting on eight and going back to one?
Yes the Major scale descending. If you think of the root word for scale/scala , it means “ladder”.
Hi Ricky, this is Al again, you told me there is an icon like a cog. On my iPad I can’t seem to find it. I must be stupid, or something. Can you help me? Alan

Do you need glasses?
Have just ordered you're book . You are a brilliant music tutor..you make it fun ! Thank you
Thank you for supporting my work!
good teacher
So what you're saying is the c major scale is the first skill you should learn before any scale😎😎😎?
Eyup James! Not necessarily…it depends on your mission. If you want to play blues then it’s pentatonic scales first. However we use the framework of the Major scale to explain all other scales. Looks like I need to a video on it. 😂👍
@@rickysguitar so what you're saying is that I need to learn the major scales before I go on to the pentatonic scales😎😎😎?
Thank you for making this lesson and the pdf that goes with it for us Ricky.
The Golden Teacher, thanks! Cristal clear lesson
Cristal clear , thank you ! 🇦🇺
