Welcome to younger Liliac! When this one was done, MeloDia was close to 16. Papa Liliac has been working with her voice since she was 8. He said she started to get a more rock voice and he let her evolve the way she wanted. It's cute to see her at 11 with her older brother Sam singing Stay. The youngest Justin, was around 10 and Ethan on rhythm guitar was about 12. That leaves Sam at 19 and Abigail at 18. They are now from 13 to 22. Their parents are Romanian born and immigrated to the US as children. They met each other at a church group and married out of High School. The rest is history! Liliac means bat in Romanian. I love seeing the vocal perspective because I analyze everything from a old musician perspective. This is when she was just finding DIO. She and the band is heavily influenced by DIO. Father wasn't allowed to hear secular music growing up, so it's a journey he's taken with his kids. It's fun to watch them progress more and more. They do awesome covers and fantastic originals. If you want future shock, check out Dear Father. Or maybe Their homage to Joan Jett. They did play for the DIO Cancer fundraiser playing The Last In Line which was the highlight of the show for me. Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath/DIO drummer) has said many times that MeloDia ( new stage name Romanian for Melody ) is the reincarnation of a female DIO. Loved your reaction/commentary. About 4 or 5 years ago my family and I are walking around Santa Monica, CA. When I hear some kick ass metal coming from the pier. We walk over and there's this band of kids just shredding their asses off. We stood and listened for a good 45 minutes just blown away by their talent. Been a fan of these guys ever since.
I am so glad that Melody is finally getting the recognition she deserves! And the rest of the band of course, but Melody’s voice is just something special.
I have not seen them in 2-3 years. My 1st time seeing this. Again, this vocalist made my eyes water. The band is really catching up to her talent. First time I saw a video of them I thought by now an established band would snatch her up and record an album. This band just needs a #1 with a bullet.

This song has so much energy and I love her voice. Liliac does a great cover of Crazy Train, too. It's worth a listen.
Great reaction this goes back to there Santa Monica pier days there is a live version where Stewart Copeland Police drummer jams with them on the pier. Every song they do cover or originals is phenomenal. Also note Wendy Dio felt she was the best voice to tribute The Last in Line for Cancer fundraiser for Ronnie James Dio birthday .Vinny Appici former Dio drummer gave them an unreleased version for the fundraiser.
Such a sick band, got to play guitar with Quite Frankly the Band opening for them in March. Everyone in liliac were fun to talk to and put on a rocking show 🤘
They're young in this, still are, but they do perform much better know. Like Last in the Line and other Dio covers, they have own songs too. Mars, Sail Away(last one is so beautiful).
You are a tad late to the ball lol. Liliac is an amazing group of youngsters. You have just opened a wonderful rock and roll rabbit hole. The talent of these kids is beyond amazing. All of their covers are outstanding and pay tasteful tribute to the original artist. Their original material is what really hooked me. Dive in and do some research into the phenomenon that is Liliac and you will not be disappointed. They are independent and quite humble and fan friendly. Wonderful family and wonderful artists. Looking forward to the inevitable deep dive you will surely be compelled to make. Welcome to the second coming of real rock and roll. If you wanna check more of them, I recommend their live video of Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart". Good showcase for both Melody's softer smoky vocals and some absolutely incredible banshee shrieks.

They have done an extended version of Dio's The Last in Line at the request of the Dio family.
These guys are great, i remember coming across them on youtube when they used to do basically street busking and stuff you should check some of their original songs
If you have not listened to The Warning you really should. They are a power rock trio of sisters from Monterrey, Mexico and they are on their way, tearing up the Internet! They covered this song when they were ages 9-14 and have just done another version with Alessia Cara singing in with them. But listen to their original songs "Choke" and "Evolve". This band reminds me of them but they don't do the screamo.

You should check out a band of sisters from Monterey Mexico called The Warning. They just reimagined Enter Sandman for the Metallica blacklist album.

Great reaction! They are just fearless when it comes to covering great classic metal, and they always kill it-super impressive! Their album of original stuff is really good, too!

I'm sitting here waiting to see Beth's reaction to Melody's voice, it has so much grit it almost sounds like she chain smokes a couple of packs a day (I think she is 19 btw). An amazing band I first heard a while ago, their cover of Dio's Holy Diver is awesome.
I am almost tempted to say that their rendition is better than the original. 😱

She's 19 now yeah, but the real wild bit is that this video is a few years old. She was like 15 or 16 when this was recorded.

Concur with RJ. Definitely listen to the LIVE version of Mars (2019 in Cumming Georgia); in my opinion their live version of this original song is far better than the recorded version.
Melody is 16 in this video. You should listen to "Mystery" and "Sail Away"

They are awesome! Very impressive especially for their ages! Rainbow in the Dark by Dio is my favorite cover of theirs. Everything they do is impressive.

I have asked Elizabeth a few times, and she answered my question on a live stream, that she would love to check them out! Someday she will get to them. Reactors are starting to take more & more notice of Liliac, and nobody want's to be left behind! I also Want Rebecca to break down Melody's vocals too!

@@jonathanwatson5818 Rebecca Vocal athlete out of the UK. These ladies are vocal coaches, and are trained in that area. It's more about them analyzing Melody's vocals, then the all around performance by all. Dozens of reactors are already doing that. I would rather these coaches listen to the songs where Melo shines and shows her range, like Piece of my heart or Sail away, over Nothing or We are the children.
@@gman125 Yeah I've watched some of the vocal coaches videos, but We are the Children and Nothing also showcase that she can go soft and hard vocals and get up there. Mars, Piece of my Heart, and Sail Away would also be good but so would Dear Father.

I've only recently got into Liliac band. They were originally on a televised talent show in the US. But they've got their own following and everything now.

Totally threw my 2 cents in for that too!! :D I specifically recommended their cover of Enter Sandman. Liliac did a great 1:1 cover. The Warning & Alessia did a great reimagining that made it a whole other beast.
@@somejoshthing and 7 years ago they did their own straight cover of this while 8, 9 and 12 years old. got noticed by the metallica drummer and went viral. invited via Allessia Cara to do a collab for the 30th anniversary of the black album.

This was great Beth. This was I think about 3 years ago. They are much better now and have a ton of original songs on YT. I discovered them about the same time I discovered you, shortly after your first Bruce Dickinson review. Keep up the roaring!
You really want to hear Melody’s voice live? Watch their live “Another Piece of My Heart” from Georgia 2019. The girl has pipes. If you want to hear her range watch “Dear Father”.
When I first heard this band, both their cover’s and original I was so happy to know that the future of real Rock was safe. The fact that they started out in the Santa Monica and Venice Beach area, my home town just made me super happy. Now I can’t wait to see them live and in person next month here in SLC Utah.

I found these guys about a year ago and was very impressed right away. The lead singer is awesome. To me there is a lot of Lizzy Hale in her, just a heavier version. They do a lot of covers but do have some of their own original stuff that is very good. ...... Oh and by the way loved seeing you headbang.

Melody definitely has an incredible voice. Their cover of Holy diver, and Symphony of destruction are really good.
Melody is their bread and butter right now. But they are all so talented I can see all of them having successful careers if they ever go their separate ways in the future.
I was SO excited when I saw this come across my notifications--been waiting forever for Liliac to break in to the more "mainstream" reaction scene, and especially glad it was you to hear her first!
Melody's voice is so freaking amazing, and this is just the tip of the iceberg--their covers of Dio and other 80's bands are just as top notch (you should hear Crazy Train and Last in Line!), and their originals are even better.

I agree with Immortal628...Their deal is off the chain. My favorite of their originals is Sail Away. You have to give that a listen. I agree with my wife, they should get some kind of award for that song.

Awsome reaction, I loved it! Your observations, about pronounciation and vocal style, are perfectly right. It comes from the singer's idol RJ Dio. Melody (her real name, not nickname) repeats everytime that her rock vocal model is Dio.
I'd like you to see them growing, this video has more than 3 years. Meanwhile, they released two original albums and lots of covers. All are fantastic, you won't be disappointed, anything you pick. I recommend the covers they made after Dio (Holy Diver, Last in line), Janice Joplin or Joan Jett. Also tremendous originals, like Nothing or Sail away.
Melody‘s real name is Melody Judith Cristea , The nickname MeloDio was given to her by Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath and Dio’s drummer) and Melody changed it to MeloDia , Which is a translation of her name in Romanian which she now uses as her stage name

The official Mars live video was done 1 year after this. Melody was only 17 on that one. She has had some serious chops for years now.
This was the first song I heard them perform. It came up in my feed and I thought "Why not?" Good and solid, nice and tight and then Melody's vocals blew my hair back. The rest is history

I love your hair flips-rock on girl. Her tone is amazing considering how young she is. All of them are really good. My guess is their parents love rock and give them total support and love. Yes being their neighbor would be great. Free concerts.... Rock on girl! Hey Beth, no put downs. You are cool.
Their father is their manager, music producer, and videographer. He was producing music before the band got started. The mother handles the merchandising. Their father had his own brief singing career in the early to late 2000s. The parents are still young (very early 40s). Some of the covers they do are even older than the parents.
I thought this was going to be a recent video but it's not. They've gotten so much better since this came out. You should do something more recent.
