So many tnx for your guidance.... Music is so sweet.....i am going to buy a cast iron kadai from indus veley... Your vedio is tooooo much helping hand for me❤
No need. When its surface is sticky or rusty, clean and heat the cookware and apply some oil and allow to cool down. Seasoning your cookware once a month helps protect it from rust and maintains a non-stick surface.
Very nice n informative video..tq for sharing..in this process u have boiled water with adding venigar, soda n liquid..but for dosa tawa how to season it.. please share for that too..
I followed the same steps as you've mentioned. After boiling, when i wiped it with tissue, a layer of rust was there. I tried cleaning the rust with oil and i had to use 5-6 tissues to get a clean surface. Will it happen everytime i wash the vessel??
First time, right? Don't worry about it. It will not happen every time. Some iron pan need more seasoning process. After every wash, dry the vessel immediately. Heating helps to dry the pan and apply oil and leave it like one day. If rust reappears, scrub it off with a steel scrub or brush and re-season it. Never leave the vessel soaked in water and always make sure to dry immediately after washing.
Thanks for a super informative video. i am new to cast iron and i have a question. how normal it is that when i applied oil to the hot pan to season it and used paper towel to remove extra oil from surface the paper towel got black. will this at some point stop or maybe i did something wrong?
Thanks for your comments. It's normal for the paper towel or cloth to turn black. After several use i wil diminish. If you're concerned that you may have done something wrong, you can repeat the seasoning process 3 or 4 times to ensure that your cast iron pan is properly seasoned.
@@AnnsPassions Hi, Thanks for this video. Same experience in the last part where I used a paper towel it also got black. My question is would the food I cook will taste rust and/or would also turn black?
@@jilsandie After cooking sour or acidic foods like tomatoes, vinegar-based sauces, or citrus in an iron pan, immediately transfer the food to another container to prevent changes in color and taste.
@jilsandie I recommend using the pan for deep or shallow frying for the first 2-3 uses. Mildly wash the pan after each use; this helps maintain the oil layer on the pan and prevents rusting.
All cooking oils can be used for seasoning cast iron. In India mustard oil is often used for seasoning iron pans. Mustard oil has a relatively high smoke point, making it suitable for the seasoning process. You can use any oil with high smoke points.
If the vessel is not properly cleaned after each use, leftover oils can carbonize during the next cooking session, leaving behind a black layer. It may require a deep clean and re-seasoning.

Is this needs to be done every time before cooking ?
Not every time. When the food starts to stick then only need re-seasoning.

does it matter what oil you use to season pan?
All cooking oils can be used for seasoning cast iron. In India mustard oil is often used for seasoning iron pans. Mustard oil has a relatively high smoke point, making it suitable for the seasoning process. You can use any oil with high smoke points.

Cast iron roti tawa same process?
Yes 😊 seasoning and maintaining tawa is quite similar. Water is not included in the cooking process for roti tawa, so need less maintenance.
Oil and onion price both are rising
Yes, you are right.
Why my after cooking carry black
If the vessel is not properly cleaned after each use, leftover oils can carbonize during the next cooking session, leaving behind a black layer. It may require a deep clean and re-seasoning.
